Over the many years of posting recipes, I have created a few recipes using more than just nature’s wrinkle remedies and trying out anti aging ingredients from Lotion Crafter. From a stable form of vitamin C to a lip line eraser, I’ve covered a lot of ground. I thought it might be helpful to round up all the special recipe additives so you can address your most pending skin concerns.

I’ve discovered a lot of new and effective ingredients and have posted quite a few recipes targeting different areas of concern. I’m not done yet but I thought since the summer is coming to a close I’d summarize what we’ve worked with so far to help organize recipes containing anti aging ingredients from Lotion Crafter.

Plus, I made a chart below that includes the percentage, solubility and purpose of each of these ingredients. Just this morning I was remaking my own face oil and vitamin C serum and realized how nice it would be to have this information handy so I didn’t have to grab my computer and search for each product! Hope this helps you-It’s going to make my life much easier!

CoEnzyme Q10 Q-MAX

Q-MAX can penetrate the cell layers of the skin and may lessen the depth of wrinkles due to photo aging, as well as epithelial cell turnover. It serves as a coenzyme vital to production of energy within cells. It is also a very powerful antioxidant or free radical scavenger.

Q MAX is soluble in oil so it works well in face oils. It can make up 1-3% of your product. 3% is 18 drops per 1 ounce. Q MAX is a bright orange liquid that is easy to add to your formulation. It should not be exposed to temperatures over 104°F so if you are adding it to a balm you’ll need to add it once your balm has cooled. It’s shelf life is 1 year.

Wrinkle Defense:

Wrinkle Defense relaxes facial tension leading to a reduction in superficial facial lines and wrinkles with regular use. It restores and repairs and helps revive and maintain the skin’s youthful appearance.

Wrinkle Defense is water soluble so it’s perfect for water based toners and serums. You can add it to the water phase of a cream. It should make up 9% of your formulation. This is roughly 1/2 a teaspoon per 1 ounce. Wrinkle Defense is sensitive to heat and should not be heated above 104°F. It’s shelf life is 1 year.

Recipe Containing Wrinkle Defense:

Hyaluronic Acid, HA-OLEO

HA OLEO can easily release the HA molecule to penetrate into the skin and nourish the skin from inside. Hyaluronic acid’s main claim to fame is that it rehydrates the skin leaving it plump and youthful.

HA-OLEO is oil soluble and has a melting point of 162°F and will need to be heated at that temperature to properly combine it with other ingredients. Since it’s a solid substance at room temperature, it will need to be in a solid product like a balm. It should make up only .1-2% of your product. 2% of 1 ounce is a little less than 1/8 tsp. It’s best to save this ingredient for larger formulations since its percentage is quite small and its balm like consistency makes it impossible to use drops.

CO2llageneer

Co2llageneer is an anti-aging and firming ingredient that stimulates the synthesis of a high-quality collagen to increase elasticity and firmness in the skin, helping to remodel the facial contour.

Co2llageneer is only soluble in oils and should make up .5-2% of a product. For 2% of 1 ounce you would add 15 drops. It can be heated to temps up to 167°F or simply added to a face oil.

Bakuchiol, 99%

Bakuchiol modulates retinoid-binding and metabolizing genes.  It significantly improves multiple dermal and dermo-epidermal junction genes/proteins.  Bakuchiol stimulates Collagen I, III and IV and is clinically proven to reduce multiple signs of aging, including roughness and dryness, fine lines and wrinkles and improvement in skin tone, elasticity and firmness, increasing radiance and brightness.

Bakuchiol is soluble in oil and should make up .1-.5% of a product. It should not be heated above 167°F so if you add it to a balm, I would add it after removing your mixture from the heat. It comes in a liquid making it easy to add to any oil based product. .5% of 1 ounce is 3 drops.

Linefill

Linefill reduces the visible signs of aging around the mouth as well as the lips themselves. It can improve wrinkles and the loss of facial volume, restore facial contours, improve hydration and plump the lips.

Linefill is sensitive to heat and should not be exposed to temps over 104°F. It is soluble in oil and should make up 1-3% of a product. 3% of 1 ounce is .18 teaspoon which is a little over 1/8 tsp. or 18 drops.

Linefill is easy to work with since it is a liquid and can be combined with other anti aging ingredients such as hilurlip for a potent anti aging lip product. It is a great addition to a lip balm!

It’s shelf life is 2 years.

Hilurlip

Hilurlip increases lip volume, enhances moisture and smooths vertical lip lines above the lips. I have used this ingredient on and off and seen how it smooths vertical lip lines personally.

Hilurlip should not be exposed to temps over 140°F and should make up 1-3% of a product. 3% of 1 ounce is .18 teaspoon or a little over 1/8 teaspoon. Hilurlip is a gel and can be tricky to get that small of an amount since you cannot administer it in drops.

Hilurlip is oil soluble and can be added to balms but should not be added during the heating phase. I add it after the balm has slightly cooled. I have also added it to an oil based roll on but had a little trouble mixing it thoroughly with the other oils. While Hilurlip can be tricky to work with, it’s worth it.

It’s shelf life is 24 months.

Vitamin C 3 Glyceryl Ascorbate

Vitamin C 3 Glyceryl Ascorbate is a vitamin C derivative that is more stable than powder-derived vitamin C alternatives.  It is a powerful antioxidant that blocks UV damage, brightens the skin and improves skin regeneration. It also reduces the appearance of sun spots, conditions and moisturizes the skin and enhances collagen production for improved elasticity.

This vitamin C is soluble only in water. It is a great addition to hyaluronic acid, Aloe Vera or even witch hazel. It can make up 2-10% of the product. 10% of 1 ounce is a little over 1/2 a teaspoon. It is heat sensitive and should not be exposed to temps over 104°F.

Eyedeline

Eyedeline is meant to address all areas of concern around the eye area. It helps reduce under eye bags and dark circles. It also boosts collagen and elastin synthesis and decreases the formation of advanced glycation, an age causing chemical reaction.

It can be added at 1-4% of a product and is water soluble. 4% of 1 ounce is 24 drops. It is heat sensitive and should not be exposed to temps above 104°F.

It’s shelf life is 12 months.

More recipes are to come using all of these ingredients. I feel that if you buy the ingredient, you should have more than one recipe to use them for. I also have more Lotion Crafter ingredients coming including something to address stretch marks, a neck serum and a chest serum that targets hyperpigmentation.

If you do not reside in the United States, no worries! I contacted Lotion Crafter and found out that they ship internationally! However, Lotion Crafter has very large minimums on orders to Australia (1,000 AUD) and the U.K. (£135) to comply with those countries regulations.

I hope this post is helpful. I wrote all the posts and I feel like it’s a lot to keep straight. Perhaps this will help you also figure out which recipes you’d like to make and which you don’t need.

xx, Jenni
