This post is long overdue but I can’t wait to share my thoughts and swatches of the NARS Afterglow Lipstick! If you’re a fan of a wearable every day formula, you are going to want this in your makeup routine. I’ve been obsessed with the high shine finish and how nourishing it feels on my lips. Read on for more photos and my thoughts!

NARS Afterglow Sensual Shine Lipstick

Many of NARS new releases are in this pretty rose gold color instead of the classic rubber black finish. I love this modern take as it provides more of a feminine energy and makes it feel fun instead of professional. The tube of this lipstick is a bit different from traditional lipsticks as it’s much thinner. The tip is also slanted which I like as it provides a more precise application.

Formula

Everyone is sporting a shiny lip these days and you can get color, shine AND hydration with the NARS Afterglow Sensual Shine Lipstick. Each of these shades has a medium color payoff, a beautiful natural shine, and also hydration for your lips. There’s no stickiness at all and no scent so it’s a very comfortable wear. The formula also includes many nourishing and hydrating ingredients such as mango butter and shea butter!

888 Dolce Vita

Starting off with my favorite shade, NARS 888 Dolce Vita. This dusty rose is the perfect natural lip color for me. This formula glides right over the lips and I like keeping this shade in my purse for touch ups!

208 Devotion

This shade looks similar to Dolce Vita in the tube but applies much more like a brown! I like wearing this more in the fall and winter. It’s interesting that even though it looks very similar to Dolce Vita in the photo, the color is so different when swatched or on the lips. This shade also glides nicely over my lips and provides a pretty shine.

777 Orgasm

Even though Orgasm is NAR’s iconic shade, I couldn’t get this to work on my lips. Light pink shades tend not to be flattering for me. For some reason, this shade also accentuates any dry flakes and really settles into my lip lines. The color looks gorgeous on the models though and maybe if your natural lip colors are lighter, it could be more suitable for you.

Menurutku ini salah satu obat totol jerawat dengan
ingredients yang cukup lengkap lho. Salicylic Acid dan Sulfur telah terbukti dapat
meredakan jerawat, ditambah dengan ingredients seperti Kaolin, Lactobionic
Acid, dan Niacinamide membuat produk ini lebih efektif meredakan dan merawat
kulit berjerawat. Sedikit info, Lactobionic Acid (PHA) merupakan active-ingredients namun molekulnya
lebih besar sehingga lebih gentle dan aman untuk kulit sensitive. Jadi enggak
heran kalau ada sensasi cekit-cekit sedikit pada jerawat setelah di totolin
obat jerawat ini.

Teksturnya ada 2 lapisan terpisah, yaitu air dan endapan
bubuk pink. Cara penggunaannya DILARANG DI KOCOK. Biarkan bubuk warna pink nya
mengendap dan cairan diatasnya terlihat jernih. Pokoknya lebih baik jangan di
kocok-kocok.

Waktu pemakaiannya aku sarankan digunakan pada malam hari
agar tidak menganggu aktifitas. Ada sensasi semriwing tapi minimal banget sih,
hampir tidak terasa kalau dikulitku. Pada jerawat yang sedang meradang tidak
perih ataupun pedih. Kalau biasanya obat totol jerawat Sulfur tuh suka rontok
di bantal kan ya, tapi untuk NOERA Acne Drying Lotion enggak mudah rontok. Pagi

satu malam. Aku sudah pakai ini sekitar 2 bulanan dan ak bakal bilang ini oke

Bantu Knot Out Tutorial | No-Heat Curls

I love playing with Paisley’s hair, but I’m always looking for ways to create cute hairstyles using as little heat as possible. This Bantu Knot Out hairstyle delivered on both counts and will last for a couple of days. Bonus!

This hairstyle actually takes some prepping before you start, so Paisley’s Bantu knots had been sitting for a couple of days. Remember to keep hydrating as you go. To prevent fluffing and puffy, I highly recommend the Hairitage “Take Your Vitamins” Argan Oil. You want to rub and twist the hair out in the OPPOSITE direction that you twisted the hair into the knots. The Argan Oil is also great for keeping the scalp hydrated so try to work it in as much as you can. Don’t forget to really take your time when you’re twisting out the Bantu knots. Grab your tools and let’s get started!

Items Needed: Hair Pick, Hairitage “Take Your Vitamins” Argan Oil, Hairitage “To The Max” – Maximum Hold Styling Gel

Time Requirement: 10-15 minutes

Skill Level: Medium

Bantu Knot Out Tutorial | No-Heat Curls

  • Begin with bantu knots all over the head – Paisley’s had been sitting for a couple of days.

  • Apply an argan oil to the hair to keep it moisturized as the knots come out.

  • Begin to untwist the hair while running the oil through it (keeps the hair from immediately puffing out, and adds TONS of moisture!) – Twist the hair out in the OPPOSITE direction that you twisted the hair into the knots

  • Slowly and carefully separate the hair, depending on the size of the knot, you’ll likely get 3-5 curls out of each knot.

  • Continue this process of releasing the knots and separating the curls all over the head.

  • Since the scalp is very exposed, now is a perfect time to add some of the argan oil to the scalp (if needed) for extra moisture and hydration

  • Once all of the knots are released, use a hair pick to to loosen up the part lines down at the root of the hair.

  • Leave the curls free, or part the hair and pin back a section of hair by the face to take the look to the next level!

Conclusion

Once all the knots are out, use a hair pick to loosen up the part lines at the root of the hair so you can hide those lines. Be sure to stay close to the root – if you go out to the ends, you risk the curls getting too puffy. You’ll get adorable corkscrew curls that you can leave free, or part the hair and pin back a
section of hair by the face to take the look to the next level! Use some To The Max styling gel by

Make the style last by putting the hair up into a pineapple and covering with a head wrap at night. Over the next few days, the curls will loosen and get puffier for a whole new look!

Industry reacts to Senate panel approval of OTC Reform Bill with key provisions for sunscreens

Last week, the US Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee unanimously advanced S.2292, the Over-the-Counter Monograph Drug User Fee Amendments Act. The bipartisan bill includes provisions to accelerate the review of innovative over-the-counter (OTC) products, including sunscreen filters that are already approved in other countries but are currently unavailable to US consumers.

Industry and medical community welcome regulatory updates

The legislation, which reauthorizes FDA’s OTC Monograph User Fee Program (OMUFA), was met with strong support from cosmetics and personal care product industry stakeholders and public health advocates. emphasized the bill’s public health significance.

In a statement to CosmeticsDesign US, Jane Yoo, MD, Assistant Clinical Professor, Department of Dermatology at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai shared, “It’s clear that more needs to be done to address this pressing public health issue and making new sunscreen innovations accessible here in the US does just that.”

She added, “I’m encouraged by the proposed legislation and its recent revisions, [as] it holds great promise in improving patient outcomes and protecting the skin health of people, young and old, as well as those of diverse backgrounds and skin types across the country.”

Carl D’Ruiz, Head NA Beauty & Care Science Advocacy and Business Development at dsm-firmenich, highlighted the bill’s broader implications for global competitiveness.

“H.R. 4273 reauthorizes the FDA’s OTC user fee program, enabling more timely review of innovations, including advanced sunscreens that align with global standards,” he said. “These reforms will not only enhance product safety and efficacy, but also strengthen the US position in the global health and wellness market.”

Support for modern testing and faster sunscreen filter approvals

S.2292 includes language to expand FDA’s use of non-animal testing methods and allow historical data to be considered in sunscreen filter reviews, which are welcome changes for industry trade organizations.

“The Personal Care Products Council (PCPC) and our member companies applaud the…HELP Committee on the passage of S.2292,” PCPC stated in a press statement. “We also commend the committee’s commitment to advancing non-clinical testing methods… and moving away from outdated and inhumane animal testing requirements.”

The statement added, “These critical improvements will accelerate US consumers’ access to the most advanced, effective and safest sunscreen UV filters and strengthen global competitiveness.”

CHPA urges final clarification on GRAS/E standards

The Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA) also praised the bill’s provisions, but urged lawmakers to include clarification on the “Generally Recognized as Safe and Effective” (GRAS/E) standard in the final version of the legislation.

“CHPA applauds Senators…and the Senate HELP Committee for advancing bipartisan policies that promote innovation, safety, and access across the self-care space,” the organization said in a media statement. “While today’s progress on this legislation in the Senate is meaningful, it’s imperative Congress take action to ensure this bill reaches its full potential by including clarification of the Generally Recognized as Safe and Effective (GRAS/E) standard.”

According to CHPA, the lack of regulatory clarity under the current GRAS/E framework continues to impede innovation in the OTC monograph system. The organization cited the withdrawn but noted amendment from Senator Andy Kim (D-NJ) as a signal that further action is expected during House-Senate negotiations.

The 7 Best Sustainable Linen Trousers

After having “high-waisted 100% linen trousers on my wishlist for years, I finally decided to take the plunge an invest in a quality, sustainable pair this summer. Since I already spent hours of research vetting brands for my own purposes, I thought I’d share my findings with you too.

In this guide, you’ll find a curated list of more sustainable linen trousers. I know how much time it takes to vet through dozens of brands and hundreds of products, so I’ve done that work for you.

Here’s what “sustainable linen trousers” means to me:

I know the word sustainable gets thrown around all the time and you may have become suspicious of that term. While there is no single agreed-upon definition, I’ve been researching, writing about, and working in this space for 10 years — and this is how I interpret the term for linen trousers. And for the record, this isn’t all or nothing! The more elements a brand has, the better — it’s not that if a brand is missing one item from the list, it’s “unsustainable.”

Sustainable linen trousers means:

Made with 100% linen

Where possible I avoid blends with synthetic fibers (like polyester) which are derived from fossil fuels. I even prefer a 100% linen fabric over a linen-cotton blend, because single-fiber fabrics are also easier to recycle at the end of their life.

Organic or OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 Certified

Natural fibers can still be grown with synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, and herbicides. So organic is preferable, though admittedly rare when it comes to linen. That means for linen, I’ll look for the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification, which tests products for 100+ common harmful substances including heavy metals, Azo dyes, and formaldehyde.

Quality construction

This may be difficult to determine online, so I’ll look to reviews for this. If in person or trying the garment on, look for even stitching and reinforced or strong seams, especially at stress points (like the crotch area). The trousers should fit well: they shouldn’t pull or pucker, they shouldn’t bunch in the back, and you’ll want to be able to sit and move comfortably. Keep in mind, though, that trousers are usually made with mass-produced sizing systems. So even a quality pair may not fit perfectly — that’s what tailors are for!

Lower-impact dyes and dyeing processes

This includes dyes that require less water in the dyeing process, dyes with few to no toxic chemicals, and dyeing processes that minimize or eliminate effluent. Undyed linen can also be beautiful.

Fair labor

Ethics are part of sustainability — does the brand consider safe labor conditions, ensure worker rights, and fair wages? What specifics do they give and how do they ensure those standards are being met?

My Picks for More Sustainable Linen Trousers

Again, the sustainability journey isn’t all or nothing — these are elements I look for when checking brands but a brand may not meet every single element. Sustainability in your own life is also about finding trousers that you actually enjoy wearing and that suit your style too.

So if choosing between a brand that meets 100% of the criteria but you won’t actually wear their trouesrs often because they’re not your style vs. a brand that meets 70% of the criteria but you’ll wear those a hundred times, I would go with the latter.

1. The RealReal

(Secondhand First!)

Part of a holistic approach to sustainable fashion is a secondhand first mindset. After exploring what we have, choosing pre-loved is our next best bet.

I found a number of 100% linen trousers in popular brands like Reformation and Faithfull the Brand on The RealReal. Before adding to bag, check the measurements (though these are sometimes inaccurate on secondhand sites) in addition to the size and double check that the item condition is something you feel comfortable with. ThredUp is another solid option with their 100% Linen filter!

2. Eileen Fisher

Size Range: XXS – 3XL

Eileen Fisher is a classic slow fashion option with a number of effortless linen trousers in classic fits. My pick would be their linen wide-leg trousers, which are pictured in their undyed option.

The New York-based brand’s trousers are made in Fair Trade Certified™ factories from organic linen. Additionally, the fabric is bluesign® APPROVED —a certification vetting for safe chemicals.

I also love that Eileen Fisher has several circularity programs in place, including their RENEW resale offering and “Waste No More” program.

3. Everlane

Size Range: 00-16

Everlane has several options for linen trousers (just go to the Fabric filter and select “Linen”) but for 100% linen, you can go for either The Linen Easy Pant (elastic waist) or The Linen Way-High® Drape Pant (non-elastic waist). I bought the drape pant because it could easily be dressed up for an evening out!

Both options are made with 100% European Flax™ Linen, which is extracted with a mechanical process for a lower impact and zero-waste operation.

4. notPERFECTLINEN

Size Range: XS – XXL

A Lithuanian brand known for their made-on-demand linen garments, notPERFECTLINEN is a slow fashion brand with trousers made with OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified linen.

For a casual option, you could opt for these trousers with an elastic waistband. The label also offers a non-elastic high-waisted pair that could be more versatile. All styles come in a diverse array of color and print options.

Because the pieces are crafted on a pre-order basis, you may just have to wait a bit for your pieces!

5. Nettle Studios

Size Range: XS – 5XL

Natural doesn’t have to mean boring — San Francisco-based Nettle Studios has 100% linen trousers come in a variety of fun hues like lilac and chartreuse. The pants are even dyed locally in California!

What stands out most about this slow fashion brand, though, is their attention to inclusivity and thoughtful sizing. Not only do their easy-fit linen trousers come in sizes up to 5XL, but they offer four (!!) different inseam lengths.

6. Reformation

Size Range: 0-12 | some styles available in extended sizes (12-24) and petite sizing

Sustainable fashion staple Reformation has several options for 100% linen trousers in a range of styles, from loose and carefree to tailored and elevated.

But it’s not just about the materials — Reformation has an impressive climate plan, a roadmap to circularity, and is a member of the Fair Labor Association. If you want to really nerd out on this stuff, you can see their progress via the brand’s annual reports.

7. Magic Linen

Size Range: XS – XL

Another option for wide-leg linen trousers is Magic Linen. Made with 100% linen, their OEKO-TEX Standard 100 trousers are perfect for everything from lounging at home to dressing up on your summer vacation.

The trousers are made with mid-weight linen and are stone-washed for a broken-in feel from the first wear. I have linen bedsheets and curtains from Magic Linen that are both fantastic quality — and by the look of their 4.9-star shop rating, the garments seem to measure up just as well.

Keep in mind that linen is a natural fabric with “flaws” — like wrinkles — that add to its character! While I wouldn’t recommend linen for a work blazer, it can be beautiful in a trouser worn on a summer day or elevated with a strappy sandal and blouse for night.

To lengthen the life of your linen garments, wash on cold in a gentle cycle and hang-dry whenever you can.

LISBON – The Fierce Diaries

Holla from Lisbon my loves! Hope you are all just being fabulous.

This year has been my year for sure… I can only say it’s only going to get better and I can only be grateful for what has happened and everything that will be coming in the near future.

I have worked so hard for everything that I own and everything that I have been able to provide for myself and one of the things I treasure the most isn’t materialistic but more of an experience and that is to travel to anywhere I put my mind to.

So far I have been ticking places off my bucket list, starting with Australia and wow was that the trip of a lifetime, then it was Tokyo, Japan, Lisbon , Portugal and South Africa (which I am dying to go back to). Plus so much more that’s on my list that is materialistic and if you follow me on Instagram you would know that I have achieved something I am absolutely proud of which is my beautiful new home! Ahhhhh it’s still surreal knowing that I own a home now at the age of 29! YAY anyway more about that later.

So Lisbon is a dream, I’ve been dreaming of visiting the city for the longest time and have been seeing soo many stunning photos from the city through other travel bloggers and it’s breathtaking. I have to admit walking up and down hose hills wasn’t easy. But the scenery and seeing all the gorgeous tiles on the buildings was worth it.

I wore this dress to one of the most iconic places in Lisbon ,Palacio dos Marqueses de Fornteira , which the owners live in it still, the garden is open all day and you can just visit when you want to without a guide, but if you do want to see the inside of the Palacio dos Marqueses de Fornteira you will need a tour guide and they do close by 2 pm.

I wore this dress that I got from Likely and so many of you kept asking me on where to get it. Likely is one of the many brands that I love to shop from Shopbop. Other similar brands would be OPT, Keepsake, Free People and Rahi.

Shackle on my feet..Happy Air Max Day!

Shackles on my feet won’t let me dance….

Recently I posted a pic on my facebook and a follower mention how the look would be so much more on point if I wore heels.  I proceeded to tell her to each their own but heels were no longer my thing especially with severe arthritis I received after healing from a nasty ass fall ten years ago. After several surgeries, months of rehab and shots, my theme song for recovery was easily the song, Shackle on my feet.

Now when it comes to my shoe selection, sneakers are right up there with my ankle boots. Rightfully so, the perfect pair of kicks will not only keep you comfortable all day long but level up your entire look. Some of my favorite style influencers rock sneakers in a high fashion kind of ways like the ever fashionable Shiona Turni,  Solonge, and  Tracy Ellis Ross.

And today, I had to join the rest of the world and celebrate Nike Air Max Day.
