REESON Beauty Lid Elixir Review - OG Nude & Toasted Cinnamon

I am thrilled to be able to say that REESON Beauty Lid Elixir is now available in a brand new shade, Toasted Cinnamon. This means the sell-out original shade which was previously called Universal has now been named OG Nude. Here’s what you need to know.

What is REESON Beauty Lid Elixir?

REESON Beauty Lid Elixir Eye Serum-Tint
REESON Beauty Lid Elixir Eye Serum-Tint

I basically made Lid Elixir for me because I have wanted smoother, more youthful looking eye lids for the longest time and there wasn’t anything out there that I felt would do the job.

Like the Bronzing Balm and the Highlighter Duo, the REESON Beauty Lid Elixir is a skincare-makeup hybrid product, and a truly skincare-first formula. It is a peptide packed serum-tint designed to treat the eye lids. The challenge was to add long lasting, crease resistant colour and soft shine. But we did it. Lid Elixir took over 3 years to formulate!

  • A first of its kind peptide-packed serum-tint
  • Designed to smooth eyelids and deliver a wash of sheer, glossy colour
  • Univeral shade that suits all skin tones
  • Formulated with active ingredients to help skin feel brighter, plumped and hydrated
  • Targeted active ingredients like Matrixyl Synthe 6 and Gatuline Link n Lift work to boost collagen and elastin synthesis, and to visibly reduce imperfections on the eyelids
  • Works to improve the appearance of eyelids both instantly and over time
  • Crease-proof once set
  • Vegan and cruelty-free
  • Non-comedogenic
  • Now available in 2 shades NEW Toasted Cinnamon and OG Nude (previously named Universal)

MATRIXYL SYNTHE 6 – powerful peptide also known as Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38. Studies have shown it improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, and dullness

GATULINE LINK N LIFT – Horse Chestnut Extract works to stimulate cellular dynamism of fibroblasts. Studies show that it reconnects the epidermis with the dermis to reinforce the skin’s structure and reduce wrinkles

SODIUM HYALURONATE – form of Hyaluronic Acid with a smaller molecular size, it helps to plump and firm the delicate eye area, smooths the appearance of the eye lids, and provides long-lasting hydration for an elastic skin surface

SQUALANE – helps maintain moisture in the skin, leaving skin feeling supple and more comfortable. Boosting hydration can help your skin to appear more vibrant and healthier.

Apply a tiny amount of Lid Elixir directly on to the lids with with either fingertips or a small brush.. You can tap to blend out the edges or blend with a brush. For extra smoothing, try to keep lids closed and still for a few seconds to allow the formula to set.

I like to use it alone, however, you can apply other eye makeup on top as long as you have allowed it to completely dry.

Where to buy it

The REESON Beauty Lid Elixir is £29 and available in Toasted Cinnamon and OG Nude (previously Universal) now:

What is the difference between OG Nude and Toasted Cinnamon?

OG Nude (formerly known as Universal) is a neutral, pinky-beige shade designed to suit all skin tones. Toasted Cinnamon is a warm, cinnamon-toned nude also developed to suit all skin tones but with a touch more warmth and richness. Toasted Cinnamon is ideal for a summery, bronzed look.

Has the original shade changed in formula?

No. Only the name has changed. The OG Nude shade has the exact same silky serum texture and neutral undertone as the original “Universal” shade.

Which Lid Elixir shade is best for my skin tone?

Both shades have been designed to work with a range of skin tones. They are buildable and flattering, so it’s safe to experiment!

Can I wear Lid Elixir with eyeshadow?

Yes! Lid Elixir works beautifully on its own or as a glossy topper over powder or cream shadows. Just let it set for a few seconds before layering.

Where can I buy the new Toasted Cinnamon shade?

Both Toasted Cinnamon and OG Nude are available to shop directly at REESON Beauty and via links in this post.

Acure Ultra Hydrating Shampoo | Review

by Lina Clémence June 22, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

One of the most common questions people have is can a budget shampoo give you great results. I’ve tried many of natural shampoo brands throughout the years, and in my experience, it is often not the price that shows how effective the product is. It’s the ingredients as well as brand’s commitment to keep its products effective, affordable, and accessible.

All of this can be said about Acure. This is a brand that I come back when I want something true and tested. Something that I know works for my hair, and does not break the bank. Out of all the shampoos I’ve tried from their clean hair care range, I probably repurchased the Ultra Hydrating Shampoo the most often. A rich and nurturing ingredient list is what I find very appealing: aloe vera, argan oil, pumpkin seed oil as the first ingredients, with a bunch of herbal extracts following.

Acure Clean Ultra Hydrating shampoo

I know some say that you don’t need a natural shampoo to foam for it to clean your hair well. However, I mostly find the opposite to be true. I like my shampoos foamy, and the Ultra Hydrating shampoo does not fall short on the foaming part. Another thing I find lovely is its delicious scent. Super subjective, I know, but it gives me a smooth lemon cake vibe, which I love. As for the “hydrating” part, there definitely are more hydrating natural shampoos out there. But this one won’t dry out my hair, leave them bouncy and happy. So, if you’re looking for a result like this, my bet is you’ll like it as much as I do.

Acure Ultra Hydrating shampoo retails for $9.99, and you can find it at stores like Target, Amazon, or their website.

Have you tried Acure shampoos? Which one is your favorite?

Shoppers Swear This Serum Is ‘Skin Plumping in a Bottle’

by Lina Clémence June 21, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

SkinMedica, backed by the makers of Botox Cosmetic and so many other in-office treatments we love, is one of the most beloved skin-care brands of dermatologists. They, and millions of users, especially love the brand’s HA5 Rejuvenating Hydrator ($184, $147), a serum packed with peptides, vitamin E and the brand’s proprietary blend of five hyaluronic acids. Now the leveled-up version is here: HA⁵® Hydra Collagen Replenish + Restore Hydrator ($192, $154). This update contains SkinMedica’s patented collagen complex that makes it an even more effective skin-plumper than its famous predecessor and delivers double the skin-quenching hydration. The result? Fine lines and wrinkles are noticeably finer, and skin is softer, smoother and firmer overall.

Before its launch last year, Omaha, NE dermatologist Joel Schlessinger, MD told NewBeauty HA⁵® Hydra Collagen Replenish + Restore Hydrator was a launch he was “excited about.” “It builds upon the original HA5 formula and includes five forms of hyaluronic acid (two times more than the original),” Dr. Schlessinger explains. “It also offers both immediate and longer-lasting hydration for up to 48 hours. Additionally, this formula is silicone-free, which is something that people seem to be increasingly looking for in their skin-care formulas.”

BUY NOW – $192 $154

Since its debut, it’s clear this new treatment has exceeded shoppers’ expectations, which were already high. In a clinical study, participants said the HA5 Hydra Collagen Replenish + Restore Hydrator made their skin look approximately three years younger after 12 weeks. The vast majority (93 percent) of participants also reported their skin looked “visibly plumper” in that same time frame. “I see the fine lines disappearing,” says one reviewer. “It makes your skin look plumper than the original [and] the hydration definitely lasts longer,” notes another. A third raves: “My pores are much less visible and overall skin is smooth and even-toned.” A fourth comments: “Don’t let the price tag scare you. It’s worth every penny.”

Speaking of price tags, right now HA⁵® Hydra Collagen Replenish + Restore Hydrator’s is marked down, thanks to the SkinMedica Anniversary Sale where all SkinMedica products are 20 percent off, now through June 24. Plus, you’ll receive a free gift with purchase when you spend $300 or more (available while supplies last). Trust me, there’s never been a better time to invest in SkinMedica’s professional-grade skin care. Below, our picks of the most-loved, most-recommended formulas by SkinMedica.

Evolution

by Lina Clémence June 20, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Oh hello! I’ve missed this space, even if it’s taken me months to find the time to sit and write again. Time has been a scarce resource, and while I have tried to be better at managing my time, I’ve underestimated the time I’ve needed to spend in the kitchen.

If you are unaware, I presently run a commercial kitchen making treats for pets (dogs, mainly). Not ever having operated a commercial kitchen before, it has been a steep learning curve, especially once we took the steps to take ourselves out of the home kitchen, and into a commercial space. That said, it has been very rewarding, and I would not have it any other way at this point in time! 🙂

What the long hours and late nights at work has meant is that I have had far less time to spend on an extensive skincare routine; and if I’m to be honest, it hasn’t been all that bad! In fact, it has taught me a few things about excesses.

Is Salt Water Good For Curly Hair?

by Lina Clémence June 19, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

There are so many different hair care products designed to give a beachy waves, or beachy curled effect, as if you’ve been swimming in the sea, for an effortless wavy, textured look.

If you have naturally curly hair, is salt water good for curly hair? What happens if you swim in the ocean (or a saltwater pool), with curly hair?

Could it cause your curls to get damaged? I’m going to explain the effects of salt water for curly hair, so keep on reading…

Is Salt Water Good For Curly Hair?

Why Does Salt Water Make Hair Curly?

Whenever you go into the ocean, or you swim in a saltwater pool, you’ll notice how your hair becomes wavy or curly, as it begins to dry.

How curly your hair becomes, depends on your natural hair type, and if you naturally have a curl/wave pattern.

Saltwater can enhance your natural curl within your hair, as the salt within the water draws moisture out of the hair shaft.

This then makes the hair strands slightly rougher and more prone to clumping together, to give you that “beachy” hair look.

Minerals within the saltwater creates a light coating on the hair, which gives the beachy texture and definition, to create a beachy and tousled effect.

Pros and Cons Of Salt Water For Your Hair

You do have some benefits from saltwater, like giving you a beachy, textured effect and volume, making waves and curls look more defined.

You’ll notice that the minerals within seawater can give you a mild cleansing effect, and potentially stimulate your scalp.

However, there are a number of downsides of saltwater for your hair. The salt is very drying for all hair types, and can strip the hair of its natural oils, which can lead to frizz, brittleness and potential damage – especially if you have dry hair or color treated hair in the first place.

The mineral buildup can make your hair feel stiff, or dull overtime, so I’d recommend using a clarifying shampoo after going in saltwater, to cleanse your hair of impurities, and any salt build-up, to keep your hair as clean as possible.

How To Protect Your Curls When Swimming In Salt Water

Is Salt Water Good For Curly Hair?

Salt water can enhance your curls, as the salt draws out moisture, which gives your hair both definition and texture, while the minerals can add a little hold.

When it comes to the downsides, saltwater has a drying effect on your curls, and curlier hair tends to be naturally drier than straight hair, and this can lead to an increase in frizz, tangles, and a loss of moisture, which can then lead to your curls becoming brittle, and more prone to breakage.

If you are going in saltwater, ensure you use a clarifying shampoo to cleanse your hair of the salt, but also make sure you use intensively hydrating haircare products to recoup any lost moisture, to keep your hair hydrated and healthy.

How To Protect Your Curls When Swimming In Salt Water

If you’re going to be swimming in salt water, you can start by pre-wetting your hair with fresh water first, as this will help reduce moisture loss and keep your curls hydrated, and healthy.

Apply a leave-in conditioner or a lightweight hair oil (like Moroccan Oil), as it’ll act as a protective barrier, against potential saltwater damage.

After swimming, rinse your hair immediately, to remove any salt residue, as this will help to restore moisture levels, preventing extra dehydration (and damage).

You could also follow up with a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo and hydrating curly hair friendly conditioner to replace any lost moisture.

Seasonal Wellness and Allergies | Maple Holistics

by Lina Clémence June 18, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Introduction

Springtime brings us endless blooms, warmer weather, new signs of life and tremendous shades of green as the trees begin to awake from their sleep. However, as beautiful as Spring can be, it also comes with its challenges. Allergies caused by pollen, pet dander and dust seem to become an overwhelming nuisance and these seasonal changes can often interfere with our skin and overall wellness. That said, you can always find light at the end of the tunnel by using a few hacks and making simple routine changes that make a world of difference as we transition into the warmer months.

How To Sniff Out The Problem

We often mistake allergies for the flu.

As we come out of Winter, it can be easy to mistake your sniffles and sneezes as the beginning stages of a cold or flu, but often the real issue at hand is caused by allergies. The common symptoms of allergies usually include watery eyes, a runny nose and an itchy sneeze that never seems to go away. Being able to tell the difference between allergies and a flu can make a huge impact on your overall wellness and comfort, and here’s exactly how you can do just that.

1. Understanding your allergies

Like most issues in life, there is often a root cause behind them, and allergies are no different. Typically, allergies are your body’s response to harmless substances such as pollen, dust and mold, all of which commonly occur during the Spring. Everybody’s body is their own, and people have different triggers which impacts the way their body reacts to these substances. This is why it’s important to understand your triggers in order to avoid any unwanted sniffles and irritation.

2. Allergy vs. Cold: Spotting the Difference

Although allergies and colds manifest with similar symptoms like sneezing, a runny nose and congestion, it’s generally quite easy to tell them apart. The easiest way to spot the difference is by looking at the timeline. If your symptoms last longer than a week, then it’s most likely allergies that are plaguing your wellness. An allergic reaction is usually accompanied by sneezing and itchy eyes, but minus the fever, lethargy and body aches that are attached to the common cold or flu.

3. Common Allergy Triggers

Certain nuts can trigger allergies.

As we mentioned before, the biggest culprits responsible for those nasty allergies are pollen, pet dander, mold and dust. They have a negative effect on your wellness and so an allergic reaction is your body’s way of staving off these substances. Certain foods such as nuts, eggs, and shellfish may also trigger allergic reactions. Performing a simple blood test through your healthcare provider can help you find out if you have any allergies, and also help you to understand your triggers and avoid them wherever possible.

The Power of Prevention

Now that we’ve determined that getting to know your specific triggers and allergies is the best way to beat your allergies, it can also be helpful to know that prevention is better than treatment when it comes to your allergies.

1. How to Allergy-Proof Your Home

Preventing the onset of allergies starts in your home, where you’re likely to spend a lot of your time. The air that you’re breathing can have a huge impact on your wellness, so clearing the air in your home is a great place to start. You can make a small investment in an air purifier which helps to trap dust and pollen or make use of plants with air-purifying properties such as snakeplants, lilly flax or spekboom potplants. In addition to clearing the air, keep the windows closed during windy days, regularly wash your bedding in hot water to eliminate dust mites and use an allergy-proof pillowcase to avoid triggering an influx of the sniffles.

2. Nutrition and Lifestyle Hacks

Healthy food, healthy body.

Your diet plays a huge role in your wellness, skin health and it also affects your body’s ability to fight off allergies. This is why it’s important to eat plenty of foods that are rich in antioxidants. Leafy greens, berries, wholegrains, nuts, seeds and vegetables are all types of food that can give your body an antioxidant boost from within. Furthermore, drinking an appropriate amount of water everyday makes a big difference, and staying clear of processed, oily and fatty foods are amazing, yet simple lifestyle hacks that can improve your overall wellness.

3. Staying Ahead of Allergy Season

They say that those who fail to plan, plan to fail, and the same can be said for allergy season. We know that prevention is the best form of medicine, and so preparing for allergy season can help you fight off your symptoms before they even arrive. To manage allergies, it’s important to avoid known triggers when possible, use medications like antihistamines and nasal sprays, and keep living spaces clean to reduce exposure to allergens. In some cases, allergy shots may be recommended to help improve your wellness.

Kitchen Cabinet Cures

If you missed the prevention stage, and you’re playing catchup with your allergies and seasonal wellness, fear not, because there are many items and treatments you can use, which may already be in your home. Many common ingredients, like honey, turmeric, and apple cider vinegar, have anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting properties that can help reduce your symptoms.

1. Keep The Sniffles At Bay With Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar.

Apple cider vinegar is a powerful home remedy that can be used for a number of things, including your overall wellness, skincare and allergic reactions. When it comes to allergies, the water vapor created from adding apple cider vinegar to boiling water can be especially beneficial. Inhaling the vapor can help remove mucus and clear out your nasal passages. While this doesn’t completely cure your allergies, it certainly makes breathing a little easier.

2. A Spoonful of Honey The Sniffles Away

Ancient cultures have been using honey as a natural remedy long before modern humans, and still today it can play a huge role in your wellness routine. Honey, potentially has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. A spoonful of honey a day can help you build up a tolerance towards pollen, however the best way to do this is to start in the winter before spring and its multitude of pollen arrives. Finally, honey can also be helpful in clearing the throat and nasal passages.

3. Spice Away The Sneeze – Turmeric tea

Much like honey, turmeric is a powerful natural remedy that humans have used for centuries. You can easily add it to your diet as a spice, or boost your seasonal wellness by drinking it as a tea. It can help reduce symptoms of a sore throat, water eyes and help to clear congestion. Spice away your sneeze with turmeric and help keep your body balanced and your allergies at bay.

Essential Oils for Easy Breathing

Essential oils can be a potent weapon in your arsenal when fighting off seasonal allergies. They are derived from natural substances like leaves, twigs and the flowers of certain plants. Certain essential oils can help make breathing through allergies more comfortable as well as having the added benefit of aiding in soothing your senses.

1. Peppermint Essential Oil

Not only is peppermint essential oil known for its cooling, soothing effects, but it also can help clear congestion and make breathing more comfortable. Adding a few drops of this oil to your diffuser can help to ease your sinuses and clear your air passages. Many people also use it topically, first diluting it with an appropriate carrier oil and then applying it directly to the chest area in order to open up your airways more effectively.

2. Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender.

Calm your allergies with lavender.

Lavender essential oil is popular for its calming, floral fragrance and is a staple amongst aromatherapy enthusiasts. However, it can also be used for enhancing your overall wellness routines, thanks to its medicinal properties.  Inhaling lavender oil can reduce sneezing, congestion, and other allergy symptoms. The best way to use it for fighting off allergies is to diffuse lavender in your bedroom for a peaceful night’s sleep, free from bothersome symptoms.

3. Eucalyptus Essential Oil

Eucalyptus essential oil has long been considered as a natural remedy for respiratory issues and it’s because of that that it can be used in the fight against allergies. It has a woody, herbaceous scent and helps open the airways and reduce mucus buildup. When diffused or used in a steam inhalation, eucalyptus oil can provide relief from allergy-related congestion, allowing you to breathe easier.

Conclusion

As we make the shift out of winter and the spring blooms become more abundant, allergies can become an irritating side effect on our wellness. However, by recognizing your triggers and incorporating preventative measures, along with natural remedies from your kitchen and essential oils, you can significantly reduce the impact of allergies on your daily life. Remember, prevention is always the best strategy, but there are plenty of ways to ease symptoms if they do arise. So, embrace the beauty of Spring without the discomfort of seasonal allergies, and let your body thrive with the right care and attention.

Medicube Zero Pore Pad 2.0 – Is it worth the hype ? Review on Indian Medium Skin – MAKEUPHOLIC WORLD

by Lina Clémence June 17, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

I had been struggling with large, open pores for quite some time and had tried numerous methods to reduce their appearance without much success. It was a frustrating experience as I couldn’t find a solution that effectively minimized the size of my pores. I experimented with various skincare products and routines, but nothing seemed to provide the results I was looking for.

Then, I came across the Medicube Zero Pore Pads and decided to give them a try based on the promising reviews and ingredients they contained.

The Medicube Zero Pore Pads are designed to exfoliate and refine pores, making them perfect for individuals who are concerned about enlarged pores, seeking smoother skin texture, dealing with excess oiliness, or facing issues with blackheads and whiteheads. The Medicube Zero Pore Pads 2.0 are dual-textured facial toner pads designed to exfoliate the skin and minimize the appearance of pores. They contain 4.5% Lactic Acid AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) and 0.45% Salicylic Acid BHA (beta hydroxy acid). The AHA and BHA ingredients work to gently exfoliate the skin, removing dead skin cells and impurities, while also helping to control oil production and prevent clogged pores.

Ingredients

Water, methylpropanediol, trometamine, lactic acid, alcohol denat., 1,2-hexanediol, panthenol, glycereth-26, salicylic acid, ammonium acrylic acrylicqudimethyltaurate/VP, copolymer, betaine, trehalose, polyglyceryl-10 laurate, ethylhexylglycerin, glycerin, allanemia that. Toin, Polyglyceron yl-10 Myristate, Disodium EDTA, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Betaine Salicylate, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Zest Oil, Lime Zest Oil (Lemon), Citrus Citrus Peel Oil Grandis (Grapefruit), Citrus Aurantium Bergamo Fruit Oil IA (Bergamote) ), leaf oil of rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary). Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Vitis Vinifera Fruit Extract (Grape), Aurantifolia Citrus Fruit Extract (Lime), Citrus Lime (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Pyrus Malus Fruit Extract (Apple), Aurantium Dulcis Citrus Fruit Extract (Orange), Ethyl Hide exanediol, extract from Centella Asiatica, Slix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Origanum vulgar Leaf Extract, Chamaecyparis Obtusa Leaf Extract, Lactobacillus/Soy Ferment Extract, Cinnamomum Cassia Bark Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Oleracea Extract, Oleracea Extract, Oleracea enothera Biennese is (primrose) Flower Extract, Pinus Palustris Leaf Extract, Ulmm us Davidiana Root Extract, Pueraria Lobata Root Extract, Limonene

How to use them

These pads are intended to be used after cleansing, with the user leaving the pad on the skin for 5 to 10 minutes before gently patting in the remaining essence. They are formulated to be suitable for all skin types, and are designed to improve skin texture, minimize pores, and promote a smoother, clearer complexion.

I absolutely adore the Medicube Zero Pore Pads 2.0! These little pads have become a staple in my skincare routine, and for good reason. They work wonders on my skin by gently exfoliating and effectively controlling oil production, while also minimizing my pores. What I love most about these pads is how easy they are to use – simply apply after cleansing and leave on for 5 to 10 minutes before patting in the remaining essence. They are incredibly gentle and have not caused any irritation to my sensitive skin. I’ve noticed a significant improvement in the texture and clarity of my skin since incorporating them into my routine.

The result is a smooth and refreshed complexion that I can’t get enough of. I am adding before and afer pictures of my face and after pictures are taken after a month’s use

One of the things I appreciate about these pads is that they don’t hve any strong fragrance. It felt lavender-citrusy to me, not overpowering. The double-sided, durable design ensures that I get the most out of each pad. Additionally, the non-sticky formula is a bonus that I appreciate. The single pad notably cover both the face and neck, and they have also shown good results in reducing recurring acne bumps and improving pore size. I use these pads about 2-3 times a week, usually at night after cleansing my face and patting it dry. I make sure to skip using them on days when I use Retinol or after I’ve had hydra facials or skin PRP treatments. While some may be tempted to refrigerate the product for a cooling effect, it’s essential to note that this could lead to premature drying of the toner essence. Additionally, caution is advised when using it alongside other actives to avoid potential irritation. When incorporating the toner pads into your routine, it’s advisable to streamline your skincare regimen and refrain from using conflicting products. I personally used the Hyaluronic acid followed by Estee Lauder ANR OR Clarins Double Serum OR Shesha Ayurveda Kumkumadi Cream alongside the toner pads. For optimal results, users should have some experience with similar products, such as Pixi Glow Tonic, prior to using the Medicube Zero Pore Pad 2.0.

Overall, the Medicube Zero Pore Pads 2.0 are formulated to provide an effective solution for exfoliation and pore care, helping users achieve a healthier and more radiant skin appearance. I wouldn’t say pores can completely disappear, But it does blur them to a great extent almost invisible unless under closer proximity. If you’re on the hunt for a quick and effective solution to tackle enlarged pores or oily skin, I wholeheartedly recommend giving the Medicube Zero Pore Pads 2.0 a try. Buy here

A Few Days in London

by Lina Clémence June 16, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

We popped to London last October to see one of my favourite humans, Fran Lebowitz. She was doing a speaking tour and I managed to get tickets for the Barbican, amazing venue and what a hilarious night. If you haven’t heard of Fran Lebowitz, you have to check her out, if you have a dry sense of humour you will love her.

Whilst we were up seeing Fran Lebowitz, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to have a city break and stayed 4 nights at the Hoxton Shepherds Bush, which you can read all about here, if you’re interested. We used it as a base to explore London, we haven’t been in the capital for almost 10 years, which is wild considering how often we used to visit. It had been so long that everything felt new and exciting, so much had changed whilst so much was also the same (if you know what I mean). We didn’t have the best weather, but we managed to dodge the rain and for me unpredictable weather means you can visit more cafés, pubs and shops. Am I right?

As we were based in Shepherds Bush we spent most mornings in the Notting Hill area, always love it around here, the properties are stunning and there are so many streets off the beaten track that are quieter and fun to explore. I always like to veer off the main drag and see what hidden gems I can find, and there are fewer crowds so you get some time to meander and take it all in. The pastel coloured houses in this area are just so cute, and I challenge anyone not to daydream about what it would be like to afford to live that kind of life, it would be wonderful.

We did stop by Spitalfields, which is always hectic but well worth a visit. There are so many wonderful food stalls and spots to get coffee. We had pad tai and a cheeky coffee from the pretty pink Grind van. We were there during half-term, so would like to go again on a quieter weekday to be able to try more of the vendors and really see what was on offer, it was quite crowded, but still a vibe.

We walked around this area for a while, going in some of the shops (my husband bought a lovely puffer jacket from the new Rains store) and we soaked up the atmosphere and rich history. There are so many historical buildings, alongside some very, very modern ones. I recognised so many places from my favourite, Pretty City London book.

Taking photos of classic and unusual cars is one of my favourite things to do, I love cars and wherever I am I seem to spot them. London had so many, lots of colourful and expensive cars, as well as lots of old classics too, I might have to do a whole post dedicated to them, but I have included a few of my faves in this post, the pink McLaren at St Pancras Station, the blue, grey and green Porsche Taycans and the cute mint green fiat 500. They can make a photo look so much more interesting.

One thing London has in abundance are pretty shop windows and facades with so much history and detail. I think the old style ones are beautiful and so interesting. Around every corner, there is so much to notice and take in, you could simply wander up and down the streets all day and never get bored or run out of places to see.

St Pancreas is such a beautiful landmark, the train station and the hotel and both stunning, also just over the road is Origins Coffee Shop (underneath the British Library) it’s small but if you manage to get a seat in the window it is ideally positioned for some serious people watching. The coffee is 10/10, so too is the matcha, and they offer a small but delicious section of cakes, cookies and treats.

Alongside all the car photos I took, I just couldn’t resist taking lots of pictures of all the cute Notting Hill houses, they are colourful and charming. Every single street in this neighbourhood is stunning and so well looked after, it is easy to see why it is such a popular destination not only for tourists but also to live. It has a village feel even though it is in a major city.

What part of London do you tend to stay in, explore? Let me know if you have any recommendations of places to see and your top places to eat / drink?
