Scenic road trips that deserve to be on your bucket list

by Lina Clémence August 2, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

We don’t always take road trips to escape. Sometimes, we take them to feel more present, to discover hidden gems, and to make unforgettable memories. As writer Angela N. Blount once said, “Sometimes the most scenic roads in life are the detours you didn’t mean to take.”

In rural Philippines, where every curve in the road may reveal a mountain, a scenic cliff, or a coastline, road trips are more than a way to travel; they’re a chance to reconnect with nature, with friends, or even with yourself.  This is the kind of thrill that only a road trip can offer — an adventure that will stay with you for a long time.

And with PLDT Home’s One Mega Giveaway (OMG) promo, your next adventure could come with a brand-new Toyota Fortuner, ₱1 million in cash, or free fiber internet for life.

Before we tell you how, let’s talk about where to go. Here are four road trips from Manila that are scenic, soul-stirring, and full of moments that you’ll never forget.

1. SCTEX and Halsema Highway: Baguio and beyond

Also known as the Baguio-Bontoc Road or Mountain Trail, the Halsema Highway climbs steadily from the lowlands of La Trinidad, leaving behind the hustle and bustle of urban life. Once dubbed the “death highway,” Halsema is now a stunning route through the Cordillera mountains.

The journey begins on the outskirts of Baguio City. As your Toyota Fortuner navigates the winding ascent, you’ll see the landscape transforming: terraced mountainsides sculpted by indigenous hands over centuries cascade down. During planting season, these terraces mirror the sky in pools of water; during harvest, they turn golden in celebration of abundance.

Stop at Atok, Benguet’s Highest Point marker. On clear days, Mt. Pulag, the country’s third-highest peak, looms in the distance, its summit often haloed with a sea of clouds that locals call the “playground of the gods.”

The true magic of the Halsema Highway isn’t just in its breathtaking vistas, but in the intimate glimpses of mountain life it offers. Indigenous Igorot communities continue their ways alongside the modern road, women in traditional garb carry baskets of produce on their heads.

By the time you reach Sagada or Bontoc, you’ve traversed not just a highway but a living museum of Philippine highland culture, where the past and present coexist in balance.

SCTEX Highway Central Luzon

2. SCTEX to Clark: A short but satisfying drive

You can also make a quick escape to Central Luzon’s rich culture with a trip to Clark, Pampanga.. Take Skyway 3, then North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), continue on to SCTEX, and exit at Clark North for a smooth two-hour drive depending on traffic.

After exploring golf courses, high-end integrated resorts, and shopping malls in Clark, indulge in Pampanga’s cultural and natural attractions, including famous Kapampangan restaurants — artist and chef Claude Tayag’s Bale Dutung, which now has a walk-in restaurant in addition to the private dining, reservations-only section. Then check out where Claude took Anthony Bourdain to introduce him to Kapampangan cuisine: Aling Lucing (for sisig) and ARlyns Carinderia (for papaitan).

3. The Tanay-Infanta Road: The Sierra Madre’s secret pass

Some of the most rewarding journeys are those less traveled, and the road from Tanay, Rizal, to Infanta, Quezon, remains one of Luzon’s best-kept secrets. This route cuts through the heart of the Sierra Madre mountain range, the longest in the Philippines– offering a breathtaking transition from the outskirts of Metro Manila to the wild Pacific coast.

The adventure begins in the rolling hills of Tanay, where weekend motorcyclists gather at viewpoints overlooking the Laguna de Bay. As you continue, Manila’s sprawl disappears behind you, replaced by increasingly dense forests, and the air grows noticeably cooler and fresher.

Indigenous Dumagat communities, who have called these mountains home for centuries, maintain small settlements along the route where traditional crafts and mountain foods can sometimes be purchased from roadside stands.

The true drama of this journey comes at Bantakay Falls and the series of hairpin turns known locally as “Magnetic Hill.” As you descend toward Infanta, Quezon, the view gives way to coconut plantations, and eventually, the vast Pacific Ocean.

Mayon Volcano

4. Pan-Philippine Highway: Bicolandia’s coastal escape

A road trip through the Bicol region offers more than just the perfect view of Mayon Volcano—it’s a slow-burning adventure that builds with every kilometer. In Legazpi City, the iconic cone-shaped volcano looms dramatically in the backdrop. If you want to go further, follow the Pan-Philippine Highway south through lush coconut plantations and sleepy fishing towns toward the province of Sorsogon.

The drive itself is a visual feast: rice paddies that stretch endlessly on one side, while glimpses of the Pacific Ocean peek out from winding coastal roads. Stop by Bacon District for panoramic sea cliffs, then detour to the quaint town of Donsol, where you can swim with whale sharks (butanding) during peak season. Cap off your journey in Matnog, where pink sand beaches and crystal-clear waters await.

It’s a soul-soothing escape deep into the heart of southern Luzon, where every stop is a reminder that sometimes, the best trips are the ones less hyped.

Drive a Toyota Fortuner on your next road trip

What if upgrading your internet could also upgrade your travel bucket list — and your entire life? PLDT Home One Mega Giveaway (OMG) Promo is back in its second year. New subscribers of PLDT Home Fiber automatically get a chance to win OMG-worthy prizes that go way beyond fast internet.

You can’t help but say OMG! to these prizes: one brand new 2025 Toyota Fortuner, ₱1 million in cash, and free fiber broadband For Life. There will also be 10 winners of ₱100,000 in cash, and 10 free fiber broadband for one year. Winners will be drawn in August.

Jo Malone London Amber Labdanum Cologne Intense Review

by Lina Clémence August 2, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Jo Malone London is on fire at the moment – another launch arrived last week and this time it’s Amber Labdanum Cologne Intense. My goodness, it’s moody! I’m not so much of an oud fan but there is something about this note arrangement that is really rather sumptuous and enticing. I’m always a sucker for someone wearing Amber Lavender – that floral kick is irresistible in a masculine setting but Amber Labdanum is a level up with bitter orange and vanilla wrapping the amber labdanum.

I’m genuinely not familiar with the roasted oakwood note – I’m not sure I can even pull it out of the line up – but there is a roundedness to this fragrance that makes it so smooth, warm and remarkably sensual. Amber Labdanum Cologne Intense is indeed intense with a rush of everything all at once in the beginning and a lighter and brighter reveal as the wear goes on.

I find it leaning heavily towards traditional masculine fragrances and to be honest, I’d probably find myself heavily leaning into a neck doused in this. You know that somehow almost all men look sexy in black tie? Well, I think we can say that Amber Labdanum is the olfactory tuxedo that will universally super-charge our menfolk and that’s not something to dismiss. A little goes a very long way with Amber Labdanum Cologne Intense – I used the tiniest spray in the crook of my arm and found it lasted the entire day. Not cheap at £164, and in fact, it’s a Harrods exclusive HERE, but as I say, you don’t need much because it’s here for a good time and a long time 🙂

How I Get That Smooth, Bouncy Look for Cheap

by Lina Clémence August 2, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Nothing beats the feeling of fresh, bouncy, smooth hair that moves like it has its own attitude. I’m talking blowout hair. That swish you see in hair commercials? Yeah, that. And the best part? You can totally get that look at home without booking a salon appointment.

So, What’s a Blowout Anyway?

A blowout is when you use a blow dryer and a brush to stretch, smooth, and shape your hair. No flat iron. No curling wand. Just your hands, some heat, and the right technique. When done right, it gives you body and shine, —even if you’re in your third day of dry shampoo and haven’t washed your hair since… let’s not talk about it.

Why Bother With a Blowout?

Because it makes your hair look amazing. Period. You get instant volume, a sleek finish, and it can last for days—like, 3 to 5 if you sleep cute and don’t get caught in the rain. It works for all hair types too. Straight, wavy, frizzy—there’s a blowout version for all of us. If you’re tired of your hair falling flat five minutes after styling it, this is your new secret weapon.

What You’ll Need to Blowout Hair

Tools I Swear By:

  • A round brush (for volume) or a paddle brush (for smoothness).
  • A blow dryer with a concentrator nozzle. The nozzle’s not optional. It helps you focus the airflow and cut down on frizz.
  • Sectioning clips.
  • You could also throw in some rollers if you’re feeling fancy or want more shape.

Products That Actually Do Something:

  • Heat protectant. Non-negotiable. Your ends will thank you later.
  • Volumizing mousse or something with a little grit.
  • A texture spray or hairspray to lock everything in place once you’re done.

Okay, Let’s Do This – Step-by-Step

1. Start Clean-ish

Wash and condition your hair. Nothing too heavy. Towel-dry, then go in with your heat protectant and whatever styling product you’re using. I like leave in conditioner with a heat protectant because it conditions while protecting my hair.

2. Rough Dry

Blast your hair with the dryer until it’s about 80% dry. No brush yet. This isn’t about technique—it’s just about getting most of the water out fast. Bonus: it gives your roots a natural lift.

3. Section Like a Pro (or Try To)

Split your hair into 4 to 6 sections depending on how thick it is. Clip everything up and work one section at a time. This is how you avoid that half-curly-half-wet mess I used to end up with when I rushed things.

4. Pull, Roll, Repeat

Take your brush and start from root to ends, pulling the hair tight and rolling it under at the bottom if you want a little curl or bounce. Aim the dryer down the hair shaft. Always. That’s how you get shine and not fluff.

5. Seal It With Cool

When each section is dry, blast it with the cool shot. It sets the shape and makes everything smoother. Don’t skip it. It actually makes a difference.

Want Your Blowout to Look Salon-Level? Try These Tips

  • Smaller sections = better results. I know, it takes longer. But it’s worth it.
  • Play with your dryer’s settings. Ionic on for sleekness. Off if you want more volume.
  • Clip each section in pin curls after you dry it and let it cool. It sets the shape better. Think of it like baking—let it rest.

What Could Go Wrong? (And How to Save It)

  • Frizz? Try using a narrower nozzle or go down a notch on heat.
  • Roots flat? Flip your head while drying and lift the hair with your brush.
  • Still damp after 20 minutes? You skipped rough drying. Keeping It Cute for Days

Want that blowout to survive your sleep habits? Here’s what I do:

  • Sleep with your hair in a loose high pony or bun using a silk scrunchie.
  • Use a satin pillowcase or bonnet. Regular cotton? Nah. It’ll suck the moisture out and kill your vibe.
  • Dry shampoo and a quick fluff with the dryer can bring it back to life by day three.

Also, I go into more detail in my night hair care post, if you need sleep-proofing tips that don’t involve sleeping like a statue.

Switch It Up

Want smooth and straight? Paddle brush it. Want bounce and movement? Use a round brush. You can even finish the look with a curling wand or rollers if you’re going for that blowout-meets-glam vibe. I do that when I want to fake a “professional” blowout for date night.

Is It Bad for My Hair?

Only if you’re doing it all the time with no heat protection. Be smart. Use good products. Don’t crank your dryer to the highest setting every single time. Deep condition in between and your hair will be fine.

Speaking of which, if you’re into hair health (which, let’s be honest, you should be), you might like my post on healthy hair care for natural or relaxed hair.

Quick Q&A Time

How long does a blowout last?
Three to five days, depending on how you treat it and your hair type. If you’re oily or live in a humid place, keep that dry shampoo handy.

Can I blowout wet hair?
Not straight out of the shower, no. Let it air dry a bit or rough dry it until it’s almost dry before you go in with the brush.

Round vs. paddle brush—what’s better?
Depends what you want. Round gives you body and shape. Paddle gives you that sleek, straight finish. I honestly switch depending on my mood.

Sahabat Miss V Millenial – mytipscantik.com

by Lina Clémence August 1, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

I think you ladies know what I’m talking about right?

Semakin aktif beraktifitas, maka semakin lembap area kewanitaan. Akibatnya?

I really don’t have time untuk godok daun sirih hahaha I mean who have time for that these days? That’s why aku seneng banget pake Absolute Hypoallergenic.

Photo Diary – Let’s talk beauty

by Lina Clémence August 1, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Back in 2020 / 2021 I really fell back in love with Cornwall, before that I thought I was over living here, it felt too remote (it still does at times), and I was yearning for city life. Being unable to leave the county for so long made us appreciate what we have right on our doorstep. We made the most of Cornwall being quiet (again) by exploring the local area and getting out walking. I noticed throughout 2021/2022 that I was going out less and less, to a point where I was avoiding leaving the house. So I made a pact with myself that, even if it was just a short walk around my neighbourhood, that I would try to get out as often as I could. Not setting any set rules or even committing to going out daily, just that I would try very hard to leave the house as regularly as I could.

Cornwall Fowey 2021

Cornish Skies

Cornwall Coast 2021

Photography gave me that reason to go out, I had forgotten how much I loved taking pictures, and being stuck at home had taken away the joy for me, but on my walks I started to take my camera with me, and it worked, I stayed out longer than I thought I would, and I began to appreciate my local area.

The photos in this post were taken on my journey to better mental health. Although as I write this in my mental health is not 100%, and I still find it hard some days to leave the house, but I know that I’m not alone in feeling like that. My camera is still my creative outlet, and I need to remember just to do my best and when the world starts to feel too busy those are the moments that I need to remember to slow down and not take in all the negative noise.

To The Beach

Exeter Spring 2021

Some things that make me happy are, the Flamingo ice cream van at the top of Fistral beach in Newquay which has the best vegan raspberry ripple! I can’t resist, it is well worth a visit if you’re ever in the neighbourhood. Oh, & Sprout Health Food Shop has the cutest courtyard where you can have a coffee, and they serve amazing Vegan food. It is such a peaceful space, and it feels like you’re on the Amalfi Coast not Newquay.

May 2021Spring in Cornwall

The Lawn Club ManchesterI do pop up to Manchester to see family, It’s nice to have an excuse to leave the county and enjoy one of my favourite cities. We always try to visit a couple of times a year, we always squeeze in a trip in August, as we got married in Manchester 17 years ago (and lived there for many years). We love visiting all our favourite places and seeing how the city has changed in the last 20+ years.

It is a place that always gets my creative juices flowing, and I leave feeling energised and full of ideas. Although the drive up from Cornwall can be a trek, it is always well worth braving the M5/M6! Especially knowing that my favourite tea shop, Bird and Blend is there, as well as Fig & Sparrow ( the best Matcha Latte in Manchester!). I soak up all the hustle and bustle, visit every coffee shop, museum, and bar that I have time for. Then by the time I leave to head back to the quietness of Cornwall, I am ready for the peace and quiet (and a beach). Best of both worlds .

Exploring Manchester City

Summer in Cornwall 2021
Charlestown Cornwall
Moody Skies Cornwall

I think it is impossible to take a bad photo of Cornwall, its landscapes, pretty towns and villages and stunning coastline make for an endless subject. I never get bored with taking pictures of the same cottages, beaches, and coffee shops. But there is nothing like not being able to go further than your local area for discovering hidden gems that you might have overlooked before. Even after living here for 10 years, there are still so many places on my list that I have not visited yet, and this Summer I fully intend to tick some off. Cornwall has so many secret spots to swim, and also river swimming is popular, and I want to do more of both this year.

White Cottage Cornwall

If you have any recommendations of things to do in Cornwall that are a little different or not to be missed. I would love to hear them.

Review: Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Drop | Memorable Days : Beauty Blog

by Lina Clémence August 1, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

I have been using the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Drop for a long time. You can purchase it now at Dot Dot Skin. This is a low-irritant vitamin C serum that contains 5% vitamin C (L-Ascorbic acid) inside. It is created with stabilised pure Vitamin C to treat dead skin cells, dull skin tone and enlarged pores. This will help to lighten hyper-pigmentation, lighten dark marks from acne and to brighten your skin. It is free of alcohol and is fully vegan. I have been using this for many months.

PACKAGING
It comes in a very simple clean packaging but with a useful pump. I normally store this in the fridge so it doesn’t oxidise that quick. It should be white when you just open the serum.

Review Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Drop
Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Drop

INGREDIENTS
Water, Propylen Glycol, Ascorbic Acid, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Centella Asiatica Extract, Citrus Junos Fruit Extract, Illicium Verum(Anise) Fruit Extract, Citrus Paradisi(Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Nelumbium Speciosum Flower Extract, Paeonia Suffruticosa Root Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Polysorbate 60, Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli) Extract, Chaenomeles Sinensis Fruit Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, Sodium Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Disodium EDTA, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Camellia Sinensis Callus Culture Extract, Larix Europaea Wood Extract, Chrysanthellum Indicum Extract, Rheum Palmatum Root Extract, Asarum Sieboldi Root Extract, Quercus Mongolia Leaf Extract, Persicaria Hydropiper Extract, Corydalis Turtschaninovii Root Extract, Coptis Chinensis Root Extract, Magnolia Obovata Bark Extract, Lysine HCL, Proline, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Acetyl Methionine, Theanine, Lecithin, Acetyl Glutamine, SH-Olgopeptide-1, SH-Olgopeptide-2, SH-Polypeptide-1, SH-Polypeptide-9, SH-Polypeptide-11, Bacillus/Soybean/Folic Acid Ferment Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Caprylyl Glycol, Butylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol.

TEXTURE
It has a light formula, it is not sticky, it sinks in fast. It can sting a little bit if you have never tried vitamin C before, for me it was alright. It stung at the beginning, but if you use it every single day, your skin will get used to it. It doesn’t really have a scent to it, there is no fragrance inside.

klairs freshly juiced vitamin c drop

MY OPNION
This Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Drop does help fading dark marks from acne. It is slightly visible after using it for 6 months, but you should not expect results after 1-2 months. This can take at least half year to a year until you see a bit of results, keep on using it every single day.

You can purchase it at www.dotdotskin.com and it’s sold for €29.95 there.

La Roche‑Posay Anthelios UVAIR Daily SPF50+ Review

by Lina Clémence August 1, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

*Links marked with asterisks are affiliate links, these help Ree with running costs of the blog

If you’ve followed me for years, you know I’ve always liked La Roche‑Posay sunscreens, however, the new La Roche‑Posay Anthelios UVAIR Daily SPF50+ takes it to the next level and I think it truly stands in a league of its own. Here’s what you need to know.

My Review of La Roche-Posay Anthelios UVAir Daily Fluid SPF50+

La Roche‑Posay Anthelios UVAIR Daily SPF50+ Texture

Texture & Application – Ultra-Light, Serum-Like Feel

The texture of this sunscreen is where it really shines. It’s:

  • Ultra-light and fluid
  • Immediately invisible
  • Non-sticky and non-greasy
  • Weightless on the skin

When I apply it, it sinks in straight away with literally no rubbing in required. It leaves absolutely no white cast, not even for a second. There’s no chalkiness, no residue, and absolutely no heaviness.

It’s the kind of SPF you want to apply, and for me, that makes all the difference in daily use.

Performance: How It Wears Through the Day

I find this SPF keeps me hydrated all day. It genuinely feels like a hydrating serum and there’s no tightness or dryness, even after hours of wear.

Oil Control

Despite its hydrating benefits, it also plays well with oil-prone areas. I find my T-zone stays balanced, and there’s no midday greasiness, which is a major win.

Makeup Compatibility

It sits beautifully under makeup. There’s no pilling, no clumping, no weird texture issues. Whether I wear a light skin tint or a full foundation, this SPF acts almost like a primer and it gives a smooth, hydrated base that grips product well.

Packaging

It comes in a slimline plastic bottle with a precise nozzle tip. It’s easy to control how much you dispense, and I love how compact and mess-free it is. Perfect for throwing in a handbag or travel bag

My Honest Thoughts – Is It Worth It?

In a word: yes. I’ve tested countless daily sunscreens over the years, and while La Roche-Posay has always been a favourite, this formula is easily their most elegant and wearable yet.

It gives me everything I want in a daily SPF:

  • High-level protection
  • Skincare-level hydration
  • No white cast
  • No greasy feel
  • Works beautifully under makeup

It’s a sunscreen I look forward to applying and that says it all.

Final Verdict

If you’ve struggled to find a daily SPF that feels like skincare, offers serious protection, and actually fits into your makeup routine, La Roche-Posay Anthelios UVAIR Daily SPF50+ is absolutely worth a look.

It’s light, hydrating, invisible, and effective, everything a modern sunscreen should be.

The Rootist Haircare | Review

by Lina Clémence August 1, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

I’ve been on a hair growth journey these last few months and a brand that has been helping me keep my hair strong and well-cared for is The Rootist*. From the founder of Farmacy Beauty and recently available at Sephora, I’ve been trying out many of their offerings. I wanted to dive in and focus on my favourites from the brand I’ve tried so far when it comes to clarifying my scalp and helping my hair in between washes.

If you’re new to the brand: as the name implies, The Rootist believes that healthy hair can be achieved through caring for your scalp, hair, and roots – where the healthiest hair forms. Thanks to their Rootbiomic Ferment, a proprietary multivitamin superfood designed to transform hair from root to tip, you can expect reinvigorated roots, a hydrated, balanced scalp and strong, healthy locks. Their products are scientifically formulated, vegan, cruelty-free and made without parabens, phthalates and silicones.

The Rootist AHA + ACV Pre-Shampoo Scalp Clarifying Rinse

From the Clarify Collection, the AHA + ACV Pre-Shampoo Scalp Clarifying Rinse has been doing wonders to help deep clean my scalp before hopping in the shower. I apply it to my scalp using the nozzle tip in different sections from the hairline to the crown. I then leave it on for about 10 minutes, rinse it off and follow up with a shampoo and conditioner. I’ve noticed since starting use that I can go longer between washes as it helps lift any excess oil.
The Rootist Clarify Balancing Serum for Oily Scalp

Post-showering, I’ve been applying the Clarify Balancing Serum for Oily Scalp to, you guessed it… my scalp! This is the most lightweight scalp treatment I have ever tried – it does not feel greasy whatsoever, and better yet, it’s a leave-on treatment. I apply two full droppers to my scalp, massaging it using my fingertips. It contains salicylic acid and helps exfoliate and tackle excess oil. It also has chlorella which hydrates, soothes and rebalances the scalp. Best part? It smells so fresh!
The Rootist BioBrew Fermented Strengthening Serum

To show my ends a bit of TLC, I also reach for the BioBrew Fermented Strengthening Serum which helps control frizz, boost shine, and repair damage while protecting from heat. This bi-phase serum requires a good shake to mix the concoction. I focus this more on my ends on clean wet hair, but it can also be used on the scalp. I find it has helped my hair texture and my hair is more shiny since I started incorporating this into my routine.
The Rootist Clarify Dry Shampoo Powder

Lastly, I’ve been going a day longer than usual not washing my hair, and I owe big thanks to the Clarify Dry Shampoo Powder. What I love about this dry shampoo is that it is talc-free and comes in a brush format, and a refill is also available. This helps absorb oil and sweat, a perfect on-the-go companion for those leading an active lifestyle. I dab the brush on my scalp and massage the powder in with my fingertips to refresh my roots and give them some volume. This product is also ferment-infused and leaves my hair looking and smelling amazing.

Have you heard of The Rootist? I would definitely recommend their products. They are a game-changer for any hair care routine!

Saya dan Koleksi Kosmetik yang Sudah Lama Nggak Terpakai. Akhirnya ya Harus Direlakan~

by Lina Clémence July 31, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Halo, Mimoyoja readers!

Masih menuhin 2 pouch kosmetik nih. Gol saya, kalau mereka habis saya mau reduksi koleksi produk make-up jadi 1 pouch kecil aja. Benar-benar super sedikit, tapi berkualitas.

Kalau ditanya, apakah saya sekarang nggak nimbun barang lagi? Hmm, sedang berusaha untuk nggak melakukannya sih, haha. Tapi saya masih susah mengontrol diri untuk nggak mengoleksi wewangian. Iya, selama pandemi koleksi saya makin banyak.

The Comeback of Retro Accessories in Modern Fashion

by Lina Clémence July 31, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Accessories can be a means of injecting flair and personality into an otherwise straightforward wardrobe. In recent times, a certain kind of accessory has enjoyed a surge in popularity. Increasingly, we’re turning to retro items that evoke a certain time or place. But exactly what’s behind this trend, and how can we make the best of it?

Why Retro Accessories Are Trending Again

The right retro accessory can speak to a fondness for a particular point in time. If you grew up in the 70s, 80s, or 90s, then you might derive a sense of comfort and nostalgia from wearing accessories from those periods. Certain vintage styles resonate with modern movements, like the green movement. It’s also worth noting that retro accessories can be a source of interest and personality, quite apart from the things we might associate them with.

Iconic Retro Watches: Style That Stands the Test of Time

Classic watches from the ’60s and ’70s have a particular virtue: they’re established as high-quality and dependable. If the model in question has been worn by a famous name, like Sean Connery or Princess Diana, then it might command even more prestige and attention. The pre-owned watch market is packed with value, provided that you know where to look for it.

Statement Jewellery: Chunky Rings and Bold Earrings

In some cases, the styles and sensibilities of bygone years can work perfectly alongside those of today. You might think of the larger-than-life rings and earrings of the 70s and 80s, which can provide a pleasing contrast against twenty-first-century minimalism. You might go for a series of nostalgia-evoking bracelets or necklaces and pair them with something classic, like a little black dress.

Classic Sunglasses Styles That Never Go Out of Fashion

Some designs have transcended the eras they came from and gone on to be regarded as timeless classics. For example, the ‘Aviator’ sunglasses were originally designed in the 1930s as a means of protecting pilots’ eyes from any angle. Their appeal and functionality were such that they became widely adopted, not just by pilots, but by everyone.

The Rise of Retro Bags: Functional and Fashionable

Handbags have a tendency to change dramatically over the years. Several designs have established themselves as worthwhile, however. These include Louis Vuitton’s ‘Neverfull’ tote bag, the ‘Baguette’ by Fendi, and the Re-nylon by Prada. Each might form a key part of a modern wardrobe.

Incorporating Retro Accessories Without Overdoing It

It’s easy to go overboard when you’re working retro elements into your wardrobe. For a sense of balance, it’s a good idea to bring these elements in gradually and to stop before things go overboard. Don’t be afraid to cut your losses and sell (or return) an item that doesn’t quite work!
