the raeviewer – a premier blog for skin care and cosmetics from an esthetician’s point of view: REVIEW

by Lina Clémence July 4, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

As I shared recently, I have moved back to San Diego and have been settling in. I have made it my mission since going back to esthetician school to discover the best in affordable skin care and beauty because I want you to know that beautiful skin is achievable regardless of budget. I have worked with dermatologists (professionally and personally) so here I’ll be weighing in on the budget buys that are actually worth the money. And yes, I purchased all these products myself

Sometimes people ask me if I use anything affordable and it makes me laugh. Not because I’m being snooty, but because I realized I should probably talk about my budget beauty staples more often! I’ve partnered with Walmart to share my go-to products, especially because they offer next day delivery so I don’t even have to go to the store. I keep my beauty stash stocked with these essentials and have repurchased them again and again::

  1. Neutrogena Hydroboost Gel-Cream was recommended by my dermatologist Dr. Chiu for use after she gave me the most intense (and most effective) chemical peel I’ve ever experienced. My skin was basically raw. Since it was so fresh, sensitive, fragile, and easily irritated, she told me I needed something gentle and simple, without any actives, to soothe and calm. I only like the Gel-Cream from the HydroBoost line because it feels the most comfortable on my skin. I still use this any time my skin is freaking out and also before going to the gym since it doesn’t clog my pores.
  2. Differin Adapalene 0.01% Acne Treatment is a product that was once RX only, but now it’s available at Walmart for the lowest price I could find at $10.88 on rollback. My dermatologist had prescribed me a different big brand name adapalene topical treatment, and I paid an arm and a leg, even with my insurance. The Differen works almost as well for a fraction of the cost! Since my break outs are usually limited to period week, I tend to use the Differin as a spot treatment instead of all over the face. It works really well on wrinkles and fine lines as well, so it is a great multi-tasking skin care booster that you can treat as a serum.
  3. Clean and Clear Night Relaxing Cleansing Wipes smell heavenly, a hint of lavender. I have been using these for two years, and my dermatologist gave me the green light to keep using them. No break outs, even when I fall asleep without rinsing after on those very rare drunken nights. These wipes are so thick and fully saturated but not dripping wet. I find a lot of wipes too dry or too greasy. These are just right! Although they’re oil free, they are able remove all traces of waterproof mascara without stinging my eyes.

  4. Dove Body Wash Mousse with Rose Oil is something I decided to try because my friend Sabrina of The Beauty Look Book raved about it. I have extremely dry body skin so I normally stay away from foaming products, but I find this hydrating. The whipped formula is fun to use, quite plush and velvety which makes it a convenient double for shaving cream. It smells like a heavenly rose garden. This is, by far, the best affordable body cleansing product that I’ve ever tried! I plan to try the Argan Oil one next.
  5. L’Oreal Lash Paradise Waterproof Mascara is the best mascara under $10. Since it holds curl, lengthens, and doesn’t clump, I hoard this and use this on all my brides and bridesmaids. A lot of waterproof mascaras tend to flake off after drying, but this one does not. I test a lot of mascaras, but this is the best on the market for the price! I actually wear the regular (non-waterproof) on my lower lashes every day in the wintertime, but now that it’s summer I stick to the waterproof one.
  6. Beautyblender Micro Mini Sponges were a surprise find! I had no idea that Walmart carried them, so I was thrilled to get these discounted. I think these tiny ones are underrated because they are versatile and much easier to keep clean than the full-sized one. I use them for concealer, foundation, and contour. Once I received my order and was sure the quality was the same as all the other Beautyblender minis in my collection, I ordered a few more sets to keep in bridal kit. They’re way easier to keep clean and I find the size, when damp, expands to the perfect size for smaller faces.
  7. Eylure False Lashes are some of the very best in the business. I like all their natural styles and keep them well stocked in my kit, but their bigger layered styles suit my eye shape best. These Vegas Nay by Eylure Grand Glamour false eyelashes are only $4 which I think are quite a steal, making them my go-to pair for day to day wear. They’re light enough where I can wear them all day, but pretty enough where I can wear them alone or with eyeshadow.

The following products are new to my collection but they earned a two thumbs up:

  1. L’oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Les Macarons Scented Liquid Lipsticks in Mon Caramel, Guava Crush, and Praline de Paris. I don’t recommend drinking or eating while wearing these, but I absolutely LOVE the way they look on. I slowly build three layers, using my middle finger to firmly press the formula into my lips as it dries down. It helps the color adhere to the lips, creating texture and volume in a way that looks natural (without having to draw outside the lip lines).
  2. L’Oreal Infallible Waterproof Full Coverage Concealer is something I keep in my bridal kit lately. I use it like a foundation, since it is waterproof, and blend it out thoroughly on top of the Hydroboost Gel-Cream in addition to a hydrating primer if necessary. It works really well as a cream contour as well. I am highly impressed by this concealer and use it on myself! It reminds me of Tarte’s Shape Tape, but it blends out just as well and doesn’t oxidize whatsoever and is significantly more affordable. I mix shades Vanilla and Cashew with my Micro Mini Sponges by Beautyblender to create a seamless blend.
  3. Real Techniques Everyday Essentials Makeup Set is raved about by everyone online, so I finally caved. I use them mostly for cream products like foundation, concealer, and highlighter blush. Normally I find that synthetic brushes are a pain to wash, but these were a breeze. I really enjoy the largest fluffy brush for layering on base products and the smaller powder brush for concealer or highlighter. The construction of the brushes is top notch for the price and will be purchasing more in the future!
  4. Essie Gel Couture Nail Polish in Sheer Fantasy was a random splurge. Since I am an esthetician and touch people’s faces and skin, I no longer get acrylic nails and do my own manicures at home. I now prefer sheers since they are easy to apply and remove. Two thin coats of Sheer Fantasy exceeded all my expectations. The color is a slightly milky pale pink-nude, softening the appearance of my rather stark nail line. My nails look polished with minimal effort!
  5. Essie Gel Couture Platinum Grade Top Coat caught my eye while browsing through the gel polish colors. I wasn’t going to bother with the top coat since I change my polish every four days now to keep my nails short and pristine, but wow, it is an excellent dupe for the Chanel Gel Top Coat! I’m super impressed!! It dries quickly and it looks glossy without feeling thick or goopy. The glossy effect fades noticeably after four days, but I wash my hands constantly and use chalk when during my barbell work outs.
  6. Maybelline Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter in Molten Peach is another beauty buy that was influenced by Sabrina. I am not sure I love this as a highlighter but it does make for a beautiful eyeshadow! There are some larger silver shimmer particles that make it pop on my lids. I put it on my lower lash lines in my Best of Budget Beauty Buys Video for a brightening effect.
  7. EcoTools Bristle Bath Brush is my latest bath time essential because it keeps my back acne at bay. The summer skin struggle is real! I really enjoy backless tops, but racebacks and sports bras tend to trap sweat and clog pores. The bristles of this brush are soft but exfoliate the skin well so I use it every day now. My shoulder mobility is somewhat limited from sleeping on my right shoulder, so the long handle of the brush helps me reach the areas of my upper back that are difficult to scrub with a handheld loofa.

I am a creature of habit, but I keep an open mind and am always willing to try new products, especially skin care now that my complexion is calm and clear. I’d love to know any budget beauty buys that you can’t live without, so please let me know what you think I should try next in the comments!

New Prada Beauty Launches – The Beauty Look Book

by Lina Clémence July 3, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

I have a roundup review of some new Prada Beauty launches. They just launched a new Light Glowing Lip Oil Stick ($50 each) and Light Glowing Highlighter Powder ($90 each). I also have some quick swatches of the Dimensions Multi-Effect Eyeshadow Palettes ($85 each) I’ve tested in today’s post. All the items are refillable. I picked mine up from Nordstrom but you can also find the launches at Sephora and Prada Beauty.

Light Glowing Lip Oil Stick

New Prada Lip Oil Stick Review

There are four shades of the Prada Light Glowing Lip Oil Stick available in the US (I think other countries might have a few more shades). I picked up the tinted ones and love the formula. They’re smooth, comfortable, hydrating and feel ultra luxurious on the lips. The pigment is very sheer though and gives the lips a barely there tint. You can definitely bring out the color with a coordinating lip pencil, but on their own they are so sheer, I don’t know that the lack of pigment justifies the steep price tag. The formula is also very soft. While I didn’t experience any breakage due to the softness, they have shifted from the base a little after application so there are dents on the sides of the lip balm from the packaging.

  • U016 is a light pink
  • U018 is also a light pink, but slightly deeper
  • U019 is a soft brown

New Prada Lip Oil Stick Review swatches

I am happy with the splurges although given my darker lip tone I would have skipped U016 if I had known how sheer it would be on my lips. If you prefer something with more pigment the Hydrating Lip Balm has better color payoff (I really like the Shade Guava). Or I would recommend opting for any of the YSL tinted balms like the Candy Glow or Candy Glaze (also still spendy but not quite as expensive).

Since these are balmy oils and sheer the lasting power isn’t going to be long with these but they are easy to reapply without a mirror.

Light Glowing Highlighter Powder

Prada Light Glowing Highlighter Powder

I did a poll on whether or not you were interested in the new Light Glowing Highlighter Powders and most of you were turned off by the steep price tag. I do think the price is outrageous but I was really impressed with these highlighters. The colors are just SO beautiful with the perfect amount of glow. I love all three and think the texture and pigment is SO stunning, I nearly forgot about the sticker shock after swatching these.

Prada Light Glowing Highlighter Powder swatches

1 Champagne is a light cool champagne on my golden olive skin, if you have light or fair skin tones I think this won’t look as pink on you as it does my skin

Prada Light Glowing Highlighter Powder 1 Champagne

2 Pink is a stunning soft cool pink

Prada Light Glowing Highlighter Powder 2 Pink

3 Deep is a soft bronzed shimmer, it’s a skin but better tone on me

I am still struggling with some texture and dry patches on my face so it did emphasize my texture a little bit, but with a lighter hand and good blending I really love how they look on the skin. Are they worth $90? I don’t think so, but I am still very happy with the splurge. Below wearing the following lip and cheek combos, also wearing:

Light Glowing Highlighter Shade 1 Champagne and Glowing Lip Oil Stick 016 Rose, quick note, I applied the highlighter with a heavier hand to show the color, but for normal makeup wear I would combine this with a regular blush or bronzer and apply the highlighter just as a softer highlight

Dimensions Multi-Effect Eyeshadow Palettes

Prada Dimensions Multi-Effect Eyeshadow Palettes

Last we have a look at the Prada Dimensions Multi-Effect Eyeshadow Palettes. These are super finely milled palettes with an ultra smooth texture. They remind me of the eyeshadows from Surratt and Cle de Peau with the soft powdery almost creamy texture. I think the color combinations are SO beautiful but I have very dry eyelids so this kind of texture tends to look dry on my eyes if I pack the color on. Each palette has a good mix of finishes. I think the tones are beautiful and well thought out.

I had such high hopes for Peony but the colors match my skin tone so closely I cannot see any color payoff on my eyes. Pansy shows up better but still gives a very natural eye look. Primula has the best color payoff. I really wanted to love at least one of these for an everyday look but in the time I’ve had them I haven’t reached for very much.

Based on the feedback I’ve received from most of you it appears I’m in the minority with my eyelid area being dry, so if your eyelids are normal or oily I think these should wear very well on you.

  • 06 Pulp has a rosewood matte, shimmery champagne, satiny yellow beige and sheer reddish pink matte
  • 07 Peony has the most beautiful mix of soft neutrals, I really wish these showed up on my skin tone
  • 08 Pansy has a dusty rose pink, soft satin tan, light warm pink, shimmery champagne with a duochrome shift
  • 09 Primula has a dusty caramel tan, deep brown, brick brown and brown with green shift

Prada Dimensions Multi-Effect Eyeshadow Palettes

New Prada Light Glowing Highlighting Powder and Lip Oil Stick Review

Overall really love the highlighters, lip oil sticks are really pretty but so sheer I don’t know how I feel about the splurge. Eyeshadows aren’t bad, but the formula and colors aren’t something I am super in love with.

Available at Nordstrom, Sephora and Prada Beauty.

Best Tinted Sunscreens 2025 for Glowy, Protected Skin | SPF Skin Tints Round-Up

If you’re looking for the best skin tints with SPF, you’re in the right place! I’ve tested so many over the past few months, and I’ve pulled together a list of the top performers that truly deliver on both glow and protection. Whether you want sheer coverage, a radiant finish, or skincare-meets-makeup multitasking, these tinted sunscreens are absolute standouts.

Best Tinted Sunscreens

Best Tinted Sunscreens 2025
Best Tinted Sunscreens 2025

From lightweight tinted mineral SPFs to hydrating serum-style tints, here’s the best of the best, all tried and tested by yours truly.

Best Tinted Sunscreens 2025: Dr Sam's
Best Tinted Sunscreens 2025: Dr Sam’s

Best for: Skincare-first makeup lovers
SPF: 50
Finish: Dewy buildable coverage

If you’re after a skin tint with SPF that actually feels like skincare, this is it. Dr Sam’s always nails the formulas, and Gossamer Tint is no exception. It is fragrance-free, non-comedogenic, and kind to sensitive skin. The tint gives really good coverage but skin still stays looking like skin.

Read my Dr Sam’s review here.

Best Tinted Sunscreens 2025: MERIT
Best Tinted Sunscreens 2025: MERIT

Best for: Everyday minimalist makeup
SPF: 50
Finish: Soft satin

I was so excited to try this one, and it didn’t disappoint. It has a silky and smooth texture. It is liquidy but not overly runny and it feels very creamy on the skin. It leaves a second-skin finish that’s slightly blurring but not heavy.

My full Merit review is here.

Best Tinted Sunscreens 2025: Naked Sundays
Best Tinted Sunscreens 2025: Naked Sundays

Best for: Full coverage SPF lovers
SPF: 50
Finish: Glowy

This is one of the most makeup-like products in the round-up, so if you want SPF with coverage, this one’s a winner. The texture is really nice. It is thin and liquidy and spreads over the skin effortlessly. It feels super lightweight on the skin yet is really hydrating and comfortable and is boosted with peptides, so ideal for mature skin.

Check out the Naked Sundays review.

Best Tinted Sunscreens 2025: ILIA
Best Tinted Sunscreens 2025: ILIA

Best for: Dewy, plumped skin
SPF: 30
Finish: Super dewy

This is one of the OGs of the tinted SPF skin tint category and still a top pick. It’s packed with skincare ingredients (niacinamide, squalane, hyaluronic acid), and gives such a hydrated finish. Ideal for dry or mature skin andI think this gives a good medium coverage. You can build it up, but it gets dewier the more you apply, so I actually prefer a light layer for more of a weightless feel.

See my ILIA review with swatches.

Best Tinted Sunscreens 2025: Ultra Violette
Best Tinted Sunscreens 2025: Ultra Violette

Best for: High SPF meets radiant sheer coverage
SPF: 50
Finish: Luminous and sheer

This one is a game-changer if you love glowy skin. It has a serum-like texture and gives a hint of coverage and feels ultra-light. It is the perfect base if you want to skip foundation and just use a touch of concealer, as it gives you really juicy, healthy looking skin.

Check out my full Ultra Violette Future Fluid review.

Best Tinted Sunscreens 2025: Kopari
Best Tinted Sunscreens 2025: Kopari

Best for: A no-makeup day with a natural glow
SPF: 50
Finish: Sheer and glowy, yet not slippery or shiny

I was really surprised by how much I loved this one! It’s super lightweight, blends in beautifully without any chalkiness, and leaves skin looking fresh and dewy. It’s not overly tinted but gives a soft blur, just enough to even everything out. And although it gives a glow, it actually feels fairly matte on the skin, which is great for the hot summer months.

Read my full Kopari review here.

Best Tinted Sunscreens 2025: Kate Somerville
Best Tinted Sunscreens 2025: Kate Somerville

Best for: Glowy skin with added skincare benefits
SPF: 50
Finish: Illuminating

This is one of the most glow-boosting and perfecting SPFs that doesn’t technically have any coverage that I’ve tried. It has lovely skin perfecting pigments that subtly improve the appearance of your complexion without actually delivering any coverage as such. It layers well over skincare or under makeup. Perfect for dry or dull skin days!

Read my Full Kate Somerville HydraKate SPF50 review.

Final Thoughts: Which Tinted Sunscreen is Best for You?

If you’re wondering which skin tint with SPF is right for you, here’s a quick summary to help narrow it down:

Dr Sam’s Flawless Gossamer Tint, MERIT The Uniform, and Naked Sundays Peptide Foundation all give the most foundation-like finish, with proper coverage and a more polished look. ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint also offers impressive coverage and that perfected-skin feel, although it’s SPF30 rather than SPF50.

If you prefer a more lightweight approach, Ultra Violette Future Fluid and Kate Somerville HydraKate don’t offer much coverage as such, but they do a brilliant job of smoothing and perfecting the look of the skin, making them ideal for no-makeup makeup days.

For a sheer tint Kopari Bright As Day is a great choice even if you have oily skin. It evens and warms up the skin tone ever so slightly, with a soft radiant finish that surprisingly feels quite matte on the skin. It’s great if you want something minimal but still fresh and glowy looking.

Whatever your preference; high coverage, dewy glow, or sheer and natural, there’s a tinted sunscreen here to suit your skin and your style. And remember, whichever one you choose, always apply enough for full protection (and don’t forget to reapply if you’re out and about!).

Perfect Corp: AI and 3D tech for increasingly accurate skin diagnosis

by Lina Clémence June 30, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Following the example of virtual makeup tests, in-depth skin diagnosis based on digital technologies is getting widely used in skincare. Through this approach, brands can determine accurate profiles to make tailor-made recommendations and offer customized experiences.

A rising adoption rate

“In the makeup segment, we have reached very high use acceptance levels. We are now working with most major companies, including Dior and Estée Lauder. In skincare, it is being confirmed as an underlying trend. Analyzing the skin with our tools helps both build trust between the brand and customers and sell more products,” claims Sylvain Delteil, GM Europe & VP Business Development at Perfect Corp.

The global leader relies on deep learning technologies to obtain a high-definition diagnosis and formulate customized recommendations. Based on face pictures taken in real time by the user, various criteria are analyzed, including wrinkles, firmness, hydration, and even dark circles. The parameters are validated by dermatologists. Then, with the analysis, brands offer a tailor-made routine that meets the specific needs identified for each user.

On their websites, in stores or on mobile apps, many brands have already chosen this service to appeal to their customers.

“Some of our clients have integrated our interfaces to their websites, like Maison Valmont, whose conversion rate has increased threefold. The same goes for Clarins, Caudalie, Avène and Cétaphil. Each brand offers its own unique experience according to its DNA. Holidermie, at the Bon Marché department store in Paris, and the new Amazon personal hygiene and beauty products store in Milan, Italy, both chose physical points of sale. And in Germany, Douglas offers a skin type analysis on its mobile app,” explains Delteil.

A new 3D step

To go even further with recommendations, Perfect Corp. has just introduced a new analysis technology with a 180-degree view of the face. This new version will result in more accurate evaluations from different angles, and on the two sides of the face.

“The video recreates the face mask in 3D to refine recommendations, get a broader picture, target lateral concerns, and offer comprehensive treatments. The tool offers brands information, then they are free to show it to their customers, or not. They can also use it as a before/after material to monitor improvements in the long term after using the products recommended,” says Delteil.

A conversational assistant

If the online diagnosis step contributes to fill in consumers’ baskets on websites or as part of a drive-to-store strategy, brands’ new approach to reach new customers now takes the form of a chatbot, a real AI interactive consultant. Perfect Corp’s Beauty Agent provides customized beauty advice at any time, by instantaneously analyzing face features and the skin condition, based only on a selfie. Plus, it can direct website visitors towards the diagnosis service.

“It helps connect with a person that had not come for that reason in the first place. With Clara, a similar type of conversational interface, Clarins boasts very high satisfaction levels. So these are new potential customers,” claims Delteil.

Offering an experience based on customized advice with tailor-made analysis helps brands create a special customer relationship, which naturally has an impact on their image and business results. This approach is getting widely used, driven by constant access to digital technologies.

“These high-definition tools are becoming accessible with lightweight technologies like iPads or smartphones, whose updates are very fast and regular. The idea is to connect worlds and help the brands joining the movement to replicate the customer contact experienced in stores. There is an underlying trend that is urging us to adopt these tools,” concludes Delteil.

Bellabeautebar’s Ocean Jewel Palette is inspired by the beauty found in the ocean and the abalone shell. There are 7 multichrome shimmers, one of which is a holochrome, and 11 buttery mattes. There is also a sequin matte and a duochrome shimmer. Please be aware, Bellabeautebar does include talc in their eyeshadow formulations.

I put together this entire makeup look featuring the Bellabeautebar Ocean Jewel Palette in 20 minutes. It’s an ethereal look I wore to yoga on Sunday morning.

For the monochromatic pink look above, featuring Mother of Pearl from the Bellabeautebar Ocean Jewel Palette, I applied my blush a little differently than usual. Instead of focusing on the apples of my cheeks, I swept it along the tops of my cheekbones, closer to my eyes.

After applying my blush and foundation, I tried using the Danessa Myricks Universal Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder all over my face with my fingertips. It was supposed to blur everything out, but on me, it just caked up, emphasized texture, and made things worse.

While this balm powder works beautifully as an eye primer, I personally cannot use it across my whole face on top of other products, even though it is marketed for that. I really dislike the look and feel of a cakey base. Thankfully, the Huda Beauty Pound Cake Loose Easy Bake powder never cakes on me and continues to be a reliable favorite.

Real Talk: I’m Finally Obsessed With My Brows

Let’s get real. I’m in love with my current brow routine. Brows have always been a bit of a challenge for me. Mine are definitely sisters, not twins, and I’ve spent years trying to get them to cooperate. On top of that, my natural brow color always looked too ashy and faded, more like a muted medium brown than the rich, deep tone I wanted to match my black and vibrant hair colors.

The product that changed everything for me is the RefectoCil Hair Tinting Kit in Blue-Black. It pairs perfectly with my dyed blue-black and cool-toned neon pink hair, giving my brows the bold, defined look they were missing.

These days, my routine is blissfully simple. I swipe on a heavy-duty brow glue to hold the hairs in place, and that’s it. Occasionally, I’ll use Silk Naturals Tour eyeshadow (use my code CORDELIA to save at Silk Naturals) to fill in a few spots for extra definition, but most of the time, it’s just glue and go.

Minimal effort with maximum payoff. Finally, my brows feel like they truly belong on my face.

Blush Brush Obsession

RMS Beauty Skin2Skin Powder Blush Brush Review by Cordelia Frost, indie makeup expert
Em Cosmetics Baroque and Seraph blushes shown with RMS Skin2Skin Powder Blush Brushes

I am completely obsessed with the RMS Beauty Skin2Skin Powder Blush Brush. For the first time ever, I’m not applying blush with a heavy hand. This brush gives me the perfect soft flush of color every time. It’s made with synthetic fibers and has a soft dome shape that gently deposits pigment without disturbing the foundation underneath.

Right now, I’m actively paring down my brush collection, but I still keep two of these on hand. They’re the only tool I want to use with powder blush. For cream products, I reach for the Half Magic Baby Paw Blush Brush, which I also adore.

That said, there are two drawbacks to the RMS Skin2Skin Powder Blush Brush in my opinion. First, the handle is way too thick and chunky for my taste. It feels clunky in the hand and doesn’t match the sleek luxury aesthetic I expect at this price point. Second, the price itself. At $45, it’s steep. I did buy mine during a sale, which helped, but I would feel better about the investment if the design felt more refined.

Despite that, the performance is unmatched, and for me, that’s why I keep reaching for the RMS Beauty Skin2Skin Powder Blush Brush.

It’s Monday Here’s What To Smile About Today in the World of Makeup

by Lina Clémence June 27, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Happy Monday, friends! It’s Monday and there isn’t a lot to smile about today but it’s ok. I got you. I hope had a good weekend, I hope you aren’t sweating too hard today, and I hope your walking around in 96 degree weather with a full beat on your face that isn’t melting off because that’s what you deserve. I know things are a little chaotic but if you want my sand pit is pretty comfy and we can all just stick our heads in it for a little while and pretend things are copacetic.

If it all goes well I should be posting this while fighting off tourists in Chinatown to get my hair cut. No, I’m not doing a pixie cut. But I’m taking several inches off because it needs it and my waves are looking like I put my hand in an electric socket as I screamed, “IT’S ALIVE!” Ya know, wavy hair+heat=holy freaking airball! Oh P.S. That made me think of Sting! We should all watch the Bride together. Who wants to do a online watch party with me? How hot sauce was he in that movie?

Anyway, here’s a few things to smile about in the world of makeup as we struggle through the chaos of the world. Guess who’s back? Back again!

Stains! Well, not really but E.L.F. is thinking of making that happen. Sheer For It Blush Lip + Cheek Tint are five bucks and available in five shade selections. I told you I had reasons to smile for you! You gotta smile so you can dot this new stain on the apples of your cheeks and get that doll-like look we all know and love (or am the only one stuck in my doll skin makeup era?). If you don’t like them on cheeks you can use them on your lips too! In this heat, I’m always up for a long-wearing cheek stain.

I’m throwing out there and you can disagree but I don’t hate Tarte x Dunkin. I don’t even drink coffee but these cute charms they did for the Maracuja Collection have me in a chokehold! How adorable? Don’t buy them on Ulta’s website though as you can both for $27 with free shipping on Tiktok shop! Super deal!

You know what I hope? I hope that Christmas in July isn’t a thing this year. I hope we actually get some cool Fall Collections! The last few years we haven’t and as a Fall baby that loves autumn I really love the colors of the season and adore makeup collections that feature them! We’re off to promising start as Lancome just dropped their Idôle Café Crush Nude Eyeshadow Palette and it’s stunning! Take my money! This screams warm, cozy eye looks! If you can’t smile at this palette I’ve failed you, my friends.

I can’t save you if you aren’t smiling to ear to ear at the fact Essence now has a collection of Juicy Bomb Body Mists! Inspired by their bestselling lipglosses and available in four fragrances these cute body mists look like an oversized lipgloss!

What’s making you smile in makeup today?

Meroda Cosmetics Changing Foundation Review – Does the Changing Foundation Really Work? | Makeup Savvy

by Lina Clémence June 26, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

AD This is a paid for ad in partnership Meroda Cosmetics

When it comes to finding the correct foundation for your skin tone I think we can unanimously agree that it’s often a tedious process. We have all been there; swatching a brand new foundation for the first time only to realise it’s a few shades too light or dark, making it an instantly unusable product.

So when I heard about the cruelty-free and vegan friendly Meroda Cosmetics Changing Foundation that adapts to your skin colour I was instantly intrigued and had to try it out for myself!

Not only does this unique foundation adapt perfectly to fair to medium skin tones but hides redness and blemishes with a light to medium coverage.

Hello to never experiencing a failed foundation shopping trip again!

Meroda Cosmetics Changing Foundation Swatches

Foundation Application

Finding my correct foundation shade over the years has been tricky, so tricky I have a drawer of redundant foundations gathering dusk. So to say when I got my hands on the Meroda Cosmetics Changing Foundation I was hopeful would be an understatement.

On first application using the ultra-soft 2-in-1 Build & Conceal Brush, I immediately noticed the almost white foundation start to quickly adapt to my skin tone with the pigment within the formula changing to something light in colour, similar to my natural skin colour, with subtle yellow undertones to give a healthy-looking glow.

When a foundation matches seamlessly with the skin it is a thing of beauty and I can truly say once a full face application of the Changing Foundation had been applied, I was suitably impressed with how my skin looked! Not only did the foundation match my neck but all redness to my complexion was gone without a heavy, cakey look to the skin.

Meroda Cosmetics Changing Foundation Results

Formulation

As for the formula which boasts an spf 15, the application feels almost effortless whether you opt to use the 2-in-1 brush, which I must say I love due to the fact it has a smaller end ideal for getting around the sides of the nose and the under eyes, or simply use your fingers. With a slightly creamy gel-like feel Meroda’s Changing Foundation glides over the skin, blending seamlessly while changing to your correct foundation shade.

It’s also worth noting my skin didn’t feel weighed down or uncomfortable, I’m sure the fact that this foundation is suitable for sensitive skin also helps here.

Foundation Wear Time

Another important factor when it comes to foundation is how the formula wears on the skin during the day. I like to believe my skin type is a good indicator of how well a foundation will last as with combination skin I deal with a bit of everything – from an oily T-zone that can cause some foundation to breakdown throughout the dry to dry patches that a lot of formulas like to cling to. However, I am happy to report that Meroda Cosmetics Changing Foundation with its waterproof formulation fairs extremely well when it comes to staying power with a full day of even wear that still looks fresh even towards the end of the day.

Overall Thoughts

Had I come across the Meroda Cosmetics Changing Foundation sooner I would have saved myself a lot of time and money over the years in my constant attempt to find my right colour match. But alas, at least we now have such a foundation!

I believe this is one of the best options if you have fair to medium skin with yellow undertones and you can’t go wrong with the matching 2-in-1 brush either – that thing is super soft and blends seamlessly!

Have you tried the Meroda Cosmetics Changing Foundation before? Let me know in the comments!

Suki And Poppy’s Guide To Wellness

by Lina Clémence June 25, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Take a moment and think about your best friend. (Ah, now isn’t this nice?) What’s funny about best friends is that more often than not, the two people involved are quite different. Earlybird workout warriors befriend snooze button loyalists, skincare fanatics connect with skincare nihilists, Carrie and Charlotte, you get the picture. So it’s no surprise that best friends Suki Waterhouse and Poppy Jamie take two different roads to skincare, fitness, and sleep hygiene. But the through line that keeps them connected? For one, it’s an appreciation for gratitude, which led them to launching an app called WithGratitude to celebrate it. “A friend who lives in London—I live in LA—and I started sending each other 10 things that we were grateful for every single day. Then Poppy and I started doing the same, and it turned into a massive habit purely from us enjoying it,” says Suki, who outside of building apps, balances a life of touring, acting, and being a mom. On the heels of the app’s launch, ITG caught up with Suki and Poppy to chat about all things skincare, fitness, and of course, gratitude. Their guide to living well below.

Skincare

Poppy Jamie: Suki’s the queen of skincare. You just have to look at her to know that. I can literally see my face in her skin because she’s so glowy.

Suki Waterhouse: I’m a complete skincare junkie, but I’m really into iS Clinical and Biologique Recherche, even though they have literally the smelliest products on Earth. If I’m wearing any Biologique products, my mom will literally tell me to get out of her car because I stink. [Laughs] But I’ve probably used iS Clinical products the longest. I love wearing the Active serum at night and Pro-Heal serum during the day.

During the pandemic, I got very into facial massages and even did an hour long class with FaceGym. They train you and then you can give yourself a completely lifted face with just your hands. It’s incredible. Also, this amazing lady at Biologique told me that we should be cleansing for at least a minute and that blew my mind because I throw my cleanser on and off quickly most of the time. And I will admit that I’ve ignored my neck and my chest. For some reason, there’s a mental block and I just cannot get around to cleansing—and generally applying skincare—there. That’s the next stage for me. Otherwise, I’m going to have a very different-looking face and neck.

PJ: Personally, I’m obsessed with drinking electrolytes. They’ve really helped my skin. And if I’m being honest, I historically have had terrible digestion—and magnesium has been super helpful—but electrolytes have been an absolute game changer with that, too.

SW: Anne Hathaway and I have the same movement coach, Dani—shout out to him, and I found out which brand of electrolytes she takes. It’s called Pique. I obviously then ordered a stack for myself and my skin looks more glowy and all around feels better.

Sleep hygiene

SW: Sleep is Poppy’s big thing. Me? I’m terrible. I’ll fall asleep on the couch in a furry jacket with my shoes on. But Poppy does not play around. She’s going to get eight hours or bust. When we go on a trip together, I’m under a strict regimen.

PJ: It’s all about the wind down. When I’ve had a really busy day and I’m answering emails late at night or I’m watching a really intense program, I’m too wired to fall asleep. I always say you have to treat yourself like a baby. You would never put a baby in its crib and say, ‘Sleep now.’ You would give the baby a bath, read them a story, and give them a bottle. So to wind down, I make Cuddle [Poppy is a co-founder of the brand], a hot chocolate mix with magnesium, which is literally the queen for sleep. Making the drink is also a good way to train my brain into knowing that when I do this certain activity, it’s time for bed.

SW: Cuddle’s also the most delicious thing ever. It’s helped me a lot and is something that I actually look forward to drinking before going to sleep every night. And, of course, Poppy’s right about treating yourself like a baby. I think about that a lot now that I have a baby of my own. The amount of time we put into soothing her and putting her into a cozy state before going to sleep has made me go, ‘Oh my God. This would be great for me.

Gratitude

SW: I don’t have that many rituals in my life, but I find so much pleasure and a sense of peace when I do. And just through the nature of everyone having busy lives, I don’t always know what’s going on with some of the people closest to me. By writing gratitude lists, not only do I have a daily ritual but I’ve also found that it is actually a way to create deeper conversations with people. Sometimes Poppy will see my list on WithGratitude and call me to ask about something I wrote down, like if I’m grateful for resolving some kind of conflict. I feel really deeply connected to the journey that she is on as a person more so than ever before. My empathy for everyone has just grown.

PJ: We’ve been doing writing lists for a year and I haven’t missed a day. It was maybe after two or three months that I realized it was also fundamentally changing the way I think and look at my life. Naturally, we look to the negative, right? Humans are wired to spot danger, and so of course, our brains want to worry about any and all potential threats. To have a practice that forces you to look for the blessings in your life, it really does have an effect on you. I could have the worst day on record, but when I make my gratitude list, I can always find something good, which then allows me to change my perspective and recognize my own resilience.

Plus, aside from making me feel grateful to have friends like Suki reaching out about something I wrote, there’s actual science to doing something like this with your friends. You’re way more likely to turn up to the gym if your friend tells you to meet them there at 10AM because you don’t want to let them down and you’re held accountable. The same applies here.

Fitness

SW: I always feel much better when I hang out or spend the day with Poppy. She always tells me that we have to go outside for an hour every day and she really enforces going for a walk, which I’m not great at. I’m definitely the one that will roll out of bed, order a coffee, not drink any water, go to the studio for eight hours, and not see the sunlight all day. She’s horrified by that.

PJ: The morning walk is critical because none of us get enough vitamin D. It’s so important that you see the daylight during that first hour of your day because it sets your circadian rhythm in motion, which then affects your sleep, too. It also refreshes your mind. I always feel better when I start my day that way. I’m more creative, more productive, and better at processing my thoughts. No one’s walking enough in LA either, but for me, 10,000 steps is a good number to focus on.
