Spring is here, and we’re officially stepping into the season of sunshine, fresh blooms, and—of course—perfect accessories. With weddings, garden parties, concerts, and outdoor events filling up our calendars, it’s time to refresh our wardrobes with pieces that scream effortless chic. Plus, let’s be real—vacation season is in full swing, and you know I’ve got the cutest travel-friendly finds just for you.

The return of maximalism—layered jewelry, mix-and-match textures, and bold color blocking in shades like cherry red, cobalt blue, and lime green.

This season, we’re saying yes to bold hues and statement accessories that bring all the joy. Whether it’s a chunky necklace, or playful earrings, spring is about embracing fun fashion. And honestly? It’s time to stop pinning and start wearing the looks we’ve been dreaming about in our pinterest boards. Let’s romanticize our closets and step into spring as our most confident, stylish selves.

1

Spring Shoes

Trending Now: Mesh ballet flats, sporty-chic sneakers in pastel shades, and chunky-soled sandals that give height without the pain.

2

Spring Accessories

Sunglasses: Tinted lenses in soft pinks and blues, vintage-inspired oval frames, and futuristic wraparound sunglasses.

3

Spring Purses

Trending Now: Beaded bags, oversized totes in unexpected hues like butter yellow and pistachio, and sculptural handbags that double as art pieces.

Too Hot to Handle – Garment Workers in the Era of Extreme Heat – WARDROBE CRISIS with Clare Press

by Lina Clémence July 30, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

We’ve all had tough days at work, right? But I’m going to bet your last one didn’t involve multiple colleagues fainting from heat stress.

My guest this week is researcher and academic Cara Schulte, author of an important new report, for Climate Rights International, that looks into the effects of the effects of extreme heat on garment workers in Bangladesh.

These don’t stop at the physical. Workers describe feeling mentally unwell, anxious, hopeless even desperate as both temperatures and humidity climb. And as climate change accelerates, we can only expect conditions to get gnarlier.

So what can fashion do about all this?

Listen to find out about the role of education; how pregnant women are impacted; how heat is linked to violence; why drinking fizzy pop won’t help; how working hours, low wages, audits and PPE come into it; and practical action to improve things that would make a difference today.

Cara’s ultimate message: “When we think about sustainability in fashion, it’s not just about materials and recycling – it has to be about people.”

Essential listening for anyone who produces in the Global South, or buys clothing made there.

Thank you for listening to Wardrobe Crisis.

written by Lina Clémence

With so many different shopping neighborhoods and designer stores to explore, one might ask the question, “Where do I even begin?” Known for its innovative and artisanal fashion scene, Buenos Aires certainly has it all. However, there are a few specialties that any curious shopper must know about. This blog post will serve as a guide to navigating exactly when to invest in designer products.

Leather ! From jackets to shoes, the city is filled with Argentine leather designers and their original pieces. For example, Nimes is a Buenos Aires natural leather brand with artisanal bags and clothing to choose from. Silvia y Mario, a leather atelier well known for its custom leather jackets.

Margie Plus River Island Tweed

by Lina Clémence July 30, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

I absolutely loved the look of a refined matching tweed set. The whole set gives me very clueless meets Princes Catherine realness. I got this jacket in a size US 20 and the skirt in a size 18 as my chest is large and I usually have to size up in my tops and jackets. I love River Islands plus size section because it offers a mix of both bold pieces and super on trend pieces to have us looking our best. I opted to wear my jacket off the shoulders and pin the bottom edges together for a twist on the classic look.

Margie Plus Fashion Nova Two Piece

by Lina Clémence July 30, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Everyone knows that I am a huge fan of bold colors and have been totally feeling purple hues these days. I love that it is December in LA and this is the kind of outfits I get to rock on those warm days. Not only was the color a huge plus for me but the whole look is completely stretch! This specific Fashion Nova set I got in a size 3x since I knew the set was meant to be skin tight and ran a little small. I opted to do matching heels and go full Laker girl with a pop of color.

Midlife Lately – July 2025

by Lina Clémence July 30, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Midlife lately – heading away

Sunday

We had a fabulous evening and a rather late night as you can tell by my pallid complexion here. As you can probably see we were now at the airport. Back in the cold days of winter when we saw that the dates for our two events in the south were so close together we decided that we’d fill the in-between days with a little break in Dorset or Devon or somewhere like that. When I started looking though it turned out that even with travel it was going to cost less for us to have five nights in Turkey than on the south coast.

We’ve talked a lot about personal geography on here in the past. You may remember that it was a project that my eldest brother introduced me to, of working out which places mean the most to you. Some hold key memories even though you know you’ll never return there, others have an ongoing place in your life simply because you love them and so you keep going back and Turkey is one of those places for us. This time we decided to try Bodrum.

Me+Em Travel Co-ords SS19 (this year’s version now in the sale here); Nike VaporMax trainers SS18

I’ve been to Bodrum before. Back in 1992 I had my first honeymoon there and I wasn’t sure how it would feel to go back, however the flights aligned so well with the few days we had available that somehow it felt meant to be. Back then I chose Turkey because my brother and his then girlfriend had spent a summer travelling through the country and returned with so many stories filled with Eastern promise that I couldn’t wait to see it for myself. At the time I was working on a travel magazine at the BBC called World, we covered all kinds of intrepid travel destinations and my colleagues were distinctly unimpressed that I was going somewhere so ordinary but my heart was set on it – plus we didn’t have the budget to go to Sarawak!

Anyway here we were, just married, snapped by an enterprising street photographer as we were going into a nightclub and as it was the only photo we were going to get of the two of us together, we bought it on the way out. Those of you who’ve been reading for a while know how things panned out, my first husband died a long time ago and I’m not going to go into it again here – but at this moment in May 1992, I was full of hope for the future.

John and Nikki Guria

Monday

Back to 2025 and Turkey for me is the only place other than home that soothes my soul. I love the fact that its difference in culture and terrain makes it feel as though you’ve really left Europe even though you’ve often only flown as far as Greece. When I’m somewhere that I don’t want to be such as the dentist’s chair, this is where I go to in my mind – I lie back in the water in Turkey looking up at a blue sky framed with bougainvillea and feel the contrast of the cool, silky water with the dry warmth on my face.

We spent our first day doing nothing more than this… oh apart from a Facetime call with the youngest so that we could sit with him while he tried repeatedly to log onto onto Leeds University’s crashing website as the degree results went live. I’ll tell you more about that in next week’s post though.

Midlife Lately - July 2025

Later we wandered out to the harbour… (this outfit is navy blue by the way, the setting sun makes it look black)…

… to a little restaurant called Trafo that had been recommended to us. It was hidden up a quiet ginnel next to the castle and we were the only non-Turkish people there. It sits up above the tourist drag with a stunning 180 view out over the sea. The food was basic but delicious – it’s a simple place, not one for you if you’re a foodie who likes complicated dishes but if you’re looking for down to earth Turkish food then it’s a wonderful spot.
