From June 8th–10th, Curated Cutting returned to Milbon Academy for another incredible weekend of classes in NYC. This time, we introduced a brand-new format: for the first time ever, our classes included prep, giving students a complete, start-to-finish look into how Anh Co Tran creates his signature lived-in haircuts. The weekend was led by Anh and lead educator, Daniel Kim.
In response to past student feedback, Anh combined the styling and advanced cutting classes into a cohesive experience called Mastery Classes. The two new classes were Mastery Class 1: Long Movement and Med-length Shag and Mastery Class II: Neo-bob and Soft Pixie. Rather than teaching cutting and styling separately, this format allowed stylists to understand the full process, from clean sectioning and product prep to the final styling techniques that bring a haircut to life. Anh chose cuts for their adaptability across hair types and client needs, making it a must-know for salon professionals looking to expand their skillset.
The energy throughout the weekend was high, with stylists feeling inspired, supported, and ready to take what they learned back behind the chair. One attendee shared how clearly everything was explained—step by step—and how they left the class feeling confident to try dry cutting for the first time. “I can go into the salon tomorrow and give someone a dry cut,” they said. “This experience was absolutely amazing.”
Another student, Alexandra, reflected on how the class helped shift their mindset around problem-solving in a haircut. “Learning how to remove weight properly and fix heaviness gave me the confidence I used to lack,” they said. “I really ingested a lot of information in a very short period of time.”
From mastering fringe to understanding structure and balance, each moment of the weekend was focused on equipping stylists with tools they can actually use, with clarity, intention, and creativity.
