When we think of cacao, we think of chocolate, right? However, did you know that cacao extract has moisturizing properties?

I was sent this Cacao Moist and Mild Cream from BENTON for review purposes, but I’m excited to try a cacao product that’s not greasy and heavy like typical cocoa butters.

Cacao, otherwise known as cocoa, is high in antioxidants and blocks harmful free radicals in the body. The exotic bean also contains omega 6 fatty acids which helps in cellular healing (hello, beautiful skin)!

Benton’s Story

“Benton is inspired by and named after the movie ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’ in which Benjamin Button grows younger with time…It may just be a fictional movie, but wouldn’t most people have the same desire to be young again? Benton desires to restore your skin back to its original, healthy recipes, rather than to give temporary effects with harmful ingredients. Benton presents freshly made products by sticking to small batch production.”

Price: $16

Size: 50g

Shelf life: 6 months

Scent: None

Claims:

  • Lightweight texture
  • Suitable for summer
  • Moist finish
  • Water-oil balance
  • Mild formula

Ingredients:

Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Extract, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Water,   Sorbitan Olivate,

1,2-Hexanediol,  Pentylene Glycol, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Extract,  Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract, Pulsatilla Koreana Extract,   Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate,   Polyglutamic Acid, Madecassoside, Beta-Glucan,  Carbomer, Arginine, Xanthan Gum

I noticed that the cream was very lightweight. It seemed to literally melt from my body heat into a watery essence which would be appropriate for summetime (not so much for colder seasons when skin gets drier).

As you can see, the cream gave my skin a dewy complexion (which is totally different from a greasy feeling and appearance).

Overall, this cream is extremely lightweight and appropriate for all skin types. As an eczema sufferer, I found that the cream did little for my flaky patches but did wonders on my face. Plus, the fact that the cream is made from natural ingredients and unscented is a huge plus for those with sensitive skin like me.

[Review] Esfolio Berry Mix Sun Cream – Asian Beauty Obsessed

by Lina Clémence May 29, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

I got this from my recent YesStyle Haul! If you’ve been reading my posts for years, you know from my time in Taiwan that Esfolio is one of my all-time favorite companies. I bought their sheet masks religiously while I was in Taiwan and now I can find them pretty frequently at my local Marshall’s or TJ-Maxx.

Anyway, when I saw this I couldn’t resist trying it out! I was in need of a sunscreen anyway and this called my name. Here’s the packaging with the ingredients:

I think it’s great that they list the percentages for each fruit/plant extract that they promote – sometimes when they promote certain ingredients and they don’t list how much is in the product I feel slightly skeptical. I like the transparency here! I put the ingredients that they are promoting in their ad for the product in bold.

Here’s the list of ingredients more clearly:

Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Fruit Extract (9.56%), Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Fruit Extract (9.56%), Fragaria Ananassa (Strawberry) Fruit Extract (9.56%), Rubus Fruticosus (Blackberry) Fruit Extract (9.56%), Vaccinium Angustifolium (Blueberry) Fruit Extract (9.56%), Euterpe Oleracea (Acai) Fruit Extract (9.56%), Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Dipropylene Glycol, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Glycerin, Dimethicone, 4-Methylbenzylidene Camphor, Octocrylene, Niacinamide, Cetearyl Alcohol, Stearic Acid, Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate, Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine, 1,2-Hexanediol, Sorbitan Stearate, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Polysorbate 60, Hydroxyacetophenone, Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate, Adenosine, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Arginine, Ethylhexylglycerin, Aluminum Hydroxide, Disodium EDTA, Xanthan Gum, Chlorphenesin, Fragrance

Besides the fruit extracts, I like seeing Niacinamide in there for evening out my skin tone and calming my skin down. I also like that “fragrance” is the last ingredient in there – it’s true, too, there isn’t much of a scent to this product.

Also, the front of the box advertises that 57.36% of the product is the “Berry Mix” and if you add up the percentages in the list, it’s true.

It’s called a sun cream and it feels like one! When I put it on, it reminds me of a light moisturizer – my skin feels softer after application. It does give my normal-type skin a nice, soft glow, so I think this would be great for dry- to normal-types but I would be a little hesitant to recommend it to oily-skin types because I would worry it would be a bit too glowy for them.

It has both UVA & UVB protection. This Sun Cream by Esfolio is one of four in their Sun Cream line – this one is called “Anti-Wrinkle” and comes in a pink tube, but they also have other versions:

They promote that they don’t use water as a filler in their ingredients, and instead use their extracts – which is true. They say there’s no white cast – I didn’t experience any! I took pictures on very sunny days and you can’t tell I’m wearing it. It doesn’t feel oily, it feels more like a light moisturizer, so I’d agree with their statements – even the “NO high cost”, haha!

I’ve been using this daily for about a week now, and I’ve been really liking it. It didn’t break me out and it plays well with my foundations so far. It keeps my skin moisturized, to boot!

I bought this on YesStyle for $5.72 (original listing price is $15.90 – as of right now it’s still on sale!). This is such a bargain that I’ll definitely be buying this again! Love the ingredients, love the product!

Hope this helped!! ❤

P.S. I’ve been a long-time customer of YesStyle (I’m talking years) and I’ve got a discount for you if you’d like use them! Use “ABOBSESSED20” to get 5% off your order!
