KEMASAN & KEGUNAAN

      Kemasannya sendiri seperti ini:

review skintific 5x ceramide moisturizer

skintific 5x ceramide

Setelah Penggunaan Pada Kulit Berminyak

Well, i should say i love this moisturizer!

Kalau lembabnya ya ngga usah ditanya lagi sih, lembab banget dan bertahan cukup lama (biasanya aku pakai malam aja, tapi siangpun kulit tetap terasa bouncy). Kulit berminyaknya masih normal aja sih kaya biasa, tapi ngga memicu minyak berlebih.

Loving it so far!

Setelah Penggunaan Pada Kulit Kering

As a test, besokkannya ngga aku pakai dulu selama 2 hari.

It works super nicely on both my oily skin and my husband’s dry skin!

REVIEW KESELURUHAN

Pro:

+ mudah diratakan keseluruh wajah.

+ ngga bikin lengket atau greasy.

+ mudah menyerap.

+ melembabkan banget!

+ cooling sensationnya enak banget terutama kalau kulitku lagi gatel dan sensitif.

+ kulit berasa lebih halus.

+ calming.

+ ada spatulanya.

+ teksturnya gel, cocok buat kulitku.

+ ampuh buat melembabkan dry spot

+ tetap terjaga kelembapan kulit walaupun makainya ngga rutin

+ suamiku ngga complain, berarti teksturnya enak dikulit dia

Cons:

Apa cushionnya?? Anyway, sekian dulu reviewku kali ini, hope you guys find this article useful. See you guys on my next post!

Love,

Auzola

20 Iconic ‘80s Hairstyles | Rush Hair & Beauty

by Lina Clémence June 15, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

The 1980s were an era characterised by bold and daring fashion choices, particularly when it came to hairstyles. This decade showcased looks defined by volume, perms, and unforgettable texture. The hairstyles of the time offered great versatility, adaptable to various lengths, textures, and face shapes. Today, these styles can be modernised or kept retro to capture that authentic 80s vibe.

The 80s celebrated individuality, featuring everything from punk-inspired spikes to voluminous curls. This makes 80s-inspired hairstyles an excellent choice for anyone looking to stand out.

Why 80s Hairstyles Are Popular Again

The hairstyles of the 1980s are characterised by boldness and volume, packed with texture, and focused on self-expression and individuality. In this blog, we will explore modern interpretations of iconic retro styles that have contributed to the resurgence of these looks.

The cultural revival of 1980s aesthetics is evident not only in hairstyles but also in fashion and pop culture. Celebrities and influencers are embracing these styles, blending nostalgia with contemporary charm.

There is a significant appeal in 1980s hairstyles for those looking to make a bold statement, whether through punk-inspired spikes or soft, voluminous curls.

Key Considerations for 80s Hairstyles

Hair Texture

When it comes to 80s hairstyles, different hair textures played a significant role in achieving the desired look. Curly hair, often permed or styled with crimpers, was a defining characteristic of the decade, providing lots of volume and exaggerated shapes. Wavy hair was achieved through techniques such as pin curls, which offered a softer style variation. Although less common, straight hair was styled for volume, often featuring feathered cuts or teasing to create a bouffant effect.

Face Shape

Different face shapes can influence how 80s hairstyles look, as certain trends may be more flattering for specific face types. By adjusting the volume, angles, and length of a hairstyle, it can be tailored to complement individual face shapes. Here are some recommendations for different face shapes:

Oval Face: This face shape is very versatile and can pull off a variety of styles, from voluminous waves to layered cuts.

Round Face: Opt for styles that create height, such as a high ponytail, to elongate the appearance of the face.

Square Face: Choose hairstyles that are soft and flowing or those that add volume on top, as these can help soften the sharp angles of a square face.

Heart Face: Styles that feature a side fringe or added volume can help balance out the proportions of heart-shaped faces.

Lifestyle and Maintenance

The maintenance of 80s hairstyles differs significantly based on the specific style and techniques used. For example, voluminous perms or backcombed looks usually require more styling and product application, while other styles, like a textured bob, generally need less maintenance.

Top 20 80s Hairstyles

1. Feathered Hair

In the 1980s, feathered hair was a popular style characterised by multiple, finely cut layers that created a wispy, feather-like appearance. This hairstyle was typically styled away from the face to emphasise the layers and enhance volume. Seen on celebrities in the 80s, such as Heather Locklear.
Suitable hair types: Feathered hairstyles are extremely versatile and work well on various hair types, including straight, curly or wavy hair. It can be a particularly flattering style for fine hair as it can add volume and dimension.
Styling tips: To style feathered hair, focus on adding texture, volume and a slightly tousled look.

2. Crimped Hair

The crimped hair trend of the 1980s was a defining style of the decade. This look involved using a special crimping iron to create a crinkled, zigzag effect in the hair. Crimped hair was popular for adding volume and texture, resulting in a distinctive and striking appearance. Seen on celebrities in the 80s, such as Dolly Parton.
Suitable hair types: Crimped hair can be created on nearly all hair types, though the results and ease of styling may differ. Crimping is an excellent method for adding volume and texture to fine or straight hair, but it can also be tailored to naturally curly or textured hair to enhance the existing texture.
Styling tips: To style crimped hair, start by detangling any knots with a smoothing brush and apply a heat protectant.

3. Spiky Layers

In the 1980s, spiky layers became a highly popular hairstyle characterised by short, textured layers, often styled with spiky ends for a punk-inspired look. This style could be achieved by incorporating ‘point cut’ layers throughout. Seen on celebrities in the 80s such as Blondie.
Suitable hair types: Spiky layers can work well on various hair types, including straight, wavy, curly or even fine hair. They are a great option for adding texture and volume to hair that may be lacking natural fullness.
Styling tips: To style spiky layers, start with damp hair and apply hair products such as gel, wax or a pomade to create the desired shape and hold.

4. The Quiff

The quiff hairstyle is characterised by short sides and back, with longer hair on top that is styled upwards and toward the back. This hairstyle gained popularity in the 1980s, but its origins trace back to the 1950s, when icons like Elvis Presley and James Dean helped popularise it. The quiff saw a resurgence in the 1980s alongside the teddy boy movement.
Suitable hair types: The quiff is best suited for medium-length hair that is straight or slightly wavy
Styling tips: Start with clean, damp hair and apply a pre-styling product such as mousse or sea-salt spray for volume and lift.

5. Shag 80s Hair

The 80s shag hairstyle is characterised by messy layers and bangs. While it initially became popular in the 70s, it saw a resurgence in the 80s, adopting a more rock and roll vibe. This hairstyle features short, choppy layers and a fringe, typically with added volume and texture. Seen on celebrities in the 80s such as Joan Jett.
Suitable hair types: The 80s shag is a very versatile hairstyle that works well on most hair types, and it can be tailored to enhance the best features of different hair textures.
Styling tips: Concentrate on adding texture and utilising products like texturising or sea salt sprays. You can also tousle your hair for a messier look.

6. Big Waves

The big wave hairstyle of the 80s was defined by dramatic, voluminous curls often achieved through perming. This style emphasises height and fullness, particularly around the face. Seen on celebrities in the 80s, such as Madonna.
Suitable hair types: Big waves hair styles are particularly flattering on naturally wavy or curly hair types.
Styling tips: Use curling tongs to enhance the waves.

7. Barrel Curls

80s-style barrel waves are characterised by large, bouncy curls that emphasise volume and texture. This look can be achieved with a medium to large barrel curling tong, which creates loose, wave-like curls throughout the hair. Unlike tighter curls found in other styles, barrel waves offer a more relaxed, flowing curl while still maintaining a defined wave pattern. Seen on celebrities in the 80s, such as Farrah Fawcett.
Suitable hair types: The style works best on medium to long hair but can be adapted to suit different textures and lengths.
Styling tips: Consider pinning the curls for a longer hold.

8. Soft Blowout

The 80s soft blowout hairstyle is characterised by big, fluffy waves and teased roots, making it a fashionable choice during that decade. While it is a bit of a softer variation, it is still full of volume and often incorporates layers with strategic teasing. Seen on celebrities in the 80s, such as Cindy Crawford.
Suitable hair types: A soft blowout can be a great option for a variety of different hair types, but works particularly well on those with naturally wavy hair.
Styling tips: Apply both volumising and smoothing products to achieve the soft voluminous style.

9. Slicked-Back Style

The slicked-back hairstyle of the 80s is often linked to the ‘wet look.’ This style involves combing the hair straight back from the forehead to create a clean and polished appearance. It also emphasises a high degree of shine, which is achieved by using products that give the hair a sleek finish. Seen on celebrities in the 80s such as Richard Gere.
Suitable hair types: Short, straight hair is ideal for the slicked-back style.
Styling tips: To style, you need a strong-hold product, such as a gel or pomade, to really secure the look.

10. Afro

The 80s afro was a big, voluminous hairstyle characterised by abundant natural texture. This style often aimed to achieve maximum fullness, sometimes exceeding an individual’s natural hair volume. The 80s afro celebrated the beauty of natural hair texture. Seen on celebrities in the 80s, such as Nina Simone.
Suitable hair types: Best suited for naturally curly and textured hair.
Styling tips: Focus on hydration and using products that define curls

11. Tightly Curled Bob

The 80s tightly curled bob is a short hairstyle, cut to above shoulder length, characterised by a high volume of tight, defined curls. These curls are typically created using perms or heat styling methods. The overall style emphasises not only volume but also a strong and bouncy texture. Seen on celebrities in the 80s, such as Meg Ryan.
Suitable hair types: Works best on naturally curly hair and with a bob that is tapered or layered.
Styling tips: Adding layers can help to add more volume and movement.

12. The Hi-Top Fade

The 1980s high-top fade is a distinctive hairstyle with short hair on the sides and back, and then transitioning to a longer, often squared-off top. This style is often associated with hip-hop and urban culture. Seen on celebrities such as Will Smith
Suitable hair types: It is particularly well-suited for thick or curly hair.
Styling tips: When fading, work with the grain of the hair to achieve a smooth-looking fade.

13. Punk Spikes

80s punk spikes, commonly referred to as liberty spikes, are a hairstyle where the hair is styled into thick, often radiating spikes pointing upwards or outwards. Liberty spikes can vary in height and are often dyed in bold colours. Seen on celebrities in the 80s, such as Billy Idol.
Suitable hair types: they can work with any hair length and texture.
Styling tips: For the best results, use a combination of hair products and heat styling, including blow drying. Use a pomade or gel to firmly push the hair either upwards or outwards, then blow dry to set it in the style.

14. Side Pony

The 80s side ponytail is where the hair is pulled to one side of the head and then secured into a ponytail, often with a high placement and significant volume at the roots. Key features can also include a deep side part, teased roots, and voluminous, often curled ends. Seen on celebrities in the 80s, such as Cyndi Lauper.
Suitable hair types: Works well with a wide variety of hair types, especially those with medium to long hair.
Styling tips: Pull your hair to one side and secure it at the nape of the neck with hair grips.

15. Jheri Curl

The Jheri curl was a popular hairstyle in the 1980s, recognised for its glossy, loosely curled appearance. It was popularised by Michael Jackson, particularly during the era of his iconic “Thriller” album. The style was invented by hairdresser Jheri Redding and was achieved by chemically softening the hair, placing it in perm rods, applying a solution, and then rinsing it out.
Suitable hair types: The Jheri curl is most effective on curly, naturally textured hair.
Styling tips: Use a wide-tooth comb for detangling.

16. Feathered Layers and Bangs

The 80s feathered layers and bangs, often referred to as “feathered bangs” or “feathered layers,” feature wispy, layered bangs that seamlessly blend into the rest of the hair, creating a feathered appearance at the ends. These layers are designed to frame the face and provide a soft, airy look, emphasising natural movement. Seen on celebrities such as Goldie Hawn.
Suitable hair types: Feathered layers and bangs can work well on a variety of hair types. They can be particularly flattering for fine or straight hair, as they add both volume and movement.
Styling tips: The key is to tailor the layers and style of the bangs to suit the individual face shapes and hair texture, and it is highly customisable.

17. Sleek Flipped Out Long Bob

The sleek, flipped-out bob is a short, chin-length hairstyle characterised by a distinct outward flip at the ends. This style features a smooth, straight base, with a purposeful outward curl at the tips of the hair strands. Popular in the 1980s, the flipped-out bob was considered a chic and polished look. Seen on celebrities in the 80s, such as Jodie Foster.
Suitable hair types: A sleek, flipped-out bob works well with various hair types, especially wavy and slightly textured hair, as it can achieve and maintain a natural flip.
Styling tips: Start by prepping your hair with a styling product like a mousse or a cream for added lift and control. Then use a round brush to blow-dry to create volume and curl the hair upwards.

18. Shaggy Mullet

An 80s shaggy mullet combines the classic mullet’s “business at the front, party at the back” silhouette with the volume and texture of shaggy cuts. The front and sides are kept short, while the back is longer and features a cascade of layers, creating a messy, textured appearance. Seen on celebrities in the 80s, such as Tina Turner.
Suitable hair types: A shaggy mullet is an extremely versatile style that can be adapted to suit any hair texture.
Styling tips: To style a mullet, concentrate on adding texture and allowing the hair to flow naturally. Use a sea salt spray or a texturising spray to achieve a messy, tousled look. For shorter styles, a pomade can be used to shape the hair as desired.

19. Wolf Cut

The 80s wolf cut features a combination of short, choppy layers and longer, shaggy pieces, particularly at the back. It essentially blends elements of both a shag and a mullet, but it has a more untamed and somewhat wild appearance compared to both styles. Seen on celebrities in the 80s, such as David Bowie.
Suitable hair types: Works well on most hair types but is particularly well-suited for those with a natural wave, as it enhances texture well.
Styling tips: Use products such as a texturising or sea salt spray to enhance the tousled, lived-in look.

20. Feathered shag

The 80s feathered shag is a layered, choppy haircut recognised for its flowing and voluminous look, especially around the mid-lengths. It features a distinctive feathered texture, with layers that are often razor-cut or designed for a wispy and lightweight feel. Sean on celebrities such as Mick Jagger.
Suitable hair types: This style is known for its versatility, working well with a variety of textures.
Styling tips: Have your hair cut every 4-6 weeks to keep the style looking fresh.

Styling Your 80s Hairstyle

To achieve these iconic ’80s hairstyles, it’s essential to focus on volume, texture, and structure.
For voluminous styles: Use a volumising mousse or root-lifting spray to achieve maximum height. You can also use rollers or blow-dry your hair with a round brush at the roots for added volume.
For curly or permed hair: A curl-enhancing cream or gel will help define each curl without weighing them down.
For spiky textures: Apply a strong-hold wax or gel to maintain the shape and sharpness of your spikes.

Tips for Maintaining 80s Hairstyles

Regular Trims

To maintain your hair and style looking fresh and healthy, it is recommended to have your hair trimmed every 4 to 6 weeks. This will keep the layers fresh and the shape intact.

Hydration & Styling Products

Use deep-conditioning treatments to maintain hydration in your hair, especially for voluminous and curly 80s styles. You can also apply a leave-in conditioner or a lightweight mousse to control frizz while keeping the texture defined.

Maintain Volume

For styles like the Hi-Top Fade or Permed Bob, where volume needs to be maintained, use a volumising mousse at the roots and blow-dry with a round brush for added body.

My Top 10 Affordable Health, Beauty & Well-Being Products

by Lina Clémence June 15, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

A few weeks ago I brought you my can’t-live-without purchases and promised my top health and beauty products were coming soon… well, here they are!

So that last post with the products that –ahem- “changed my life” (and yes, I know how dramatic that sounds but I like to keep up the optimism!) listed the items to do with the home and garden, style and kitchen that all made my life easier or enhanced it in some way; I wanted to do that with health and beauty products. And anything to do with wellness that I think have had an impact on my everyday life and that may well have an impact on yours, too.

(You need to let me know!)

[Reading time: 8 mins]

This blog contains affiliate links which means if you click through and buy I may receive a small commission (at no cost to you).

Well-being, wellness, our home/life balance are all buzzwords that are bandied about so much but wowsers, now that we’re aware of them I do believe they’re really important. Self-care and mindfulness also come to mind… you get my drift. We can’t do everything, we can’t make everything perfect (and good lord midlife is hard enough as it is without feeling pressure to do EVEN better than what we’re already trying to do), but anything that makes your life easier or makes you feel more positive? I’m all in.

Nothing listed here is crazy expensive, I can’t afford anything that costs a bomb these days anyway. They’ll all make you feel good and/or look good, because we all need a bit of that, don’t we…?

Here they are:

My top 10 affordable health, beauty and well-being products (with prices at time of publishing)

My Top 10 Affordable Health, Beauty and Well-being Products (Eyelash and Brow Growth Serum) | Not Dressed As Lamb, Over 50 Fashion and Lifestyle Blog

1. NYK1 eyelash and brow serum (£38 each)

In the past I’ve used that eyelash growth serum – the really expensive OG, Revitalash – because it was heads and shoulders better than any of the other cheaper ones on the market at the time. But now it seems that other companies have caught up and are making serums that are just as effective but with a much cheaper price tag. I’ve tried a couple since then, but here’s a brand that many people seem to wax lyrical about, as do I: NYK1 for eyelashes and brows. Compared to Revitalash‘s £100 price tag (gulp, for 3 month’s supply), NYK1 is a much more affordable £40-ish.

It works just as effectively: at Christmas I thought my lashes had had it. Thin, sparse and short. But by the end of March – after three months of using NYK1 – I realised that bloody hell, I had crazy-ass longer, thicker lashes again. They just sort of… creep up on you (not literally, that would be kinda weird). The brow serum has made my brows much, much fluffier too. Growth serum for your lashes and brows is NOT an essential in life, but wowsers they make you feel good about your face.

My Top 10 Affordable Health, Beauty and Well-being Products (Self Tan and Face SPF) | Not Dressed As Lamb, Over 50 Fashion and Lifestyle Blog

2. St.Tropez bronzing mousse (£15), Ambre Solaire self-tan spray (£6) and Ambre Solaire over makeup SPF50 spray (£8)

So much trial and error over the years has resulted in me swearing by/sticking to these two self-tanning products (and a clever SPF sunscreen for your face that can be used on bare skin OR over makeup: genius). I use two different self-tanners as I use them on different parts of my body; let me explain…

I use the St. Tropez mousse on my legs all the way up to my bum (I have a set of standard black pants that I bought just for tanning overnight so it creates clean tan lines in the same place every time) with a hand mitt… don’t try and apply it without one unless you want tanned palms! It doesn’t smell grim, though I can’t ever remember smelling one like that so maybe those days of biscuity-smelling self-tanners are long gone. And I find a spray easier on my top half so it can reach my back and everywhere it needs to go – it still sprays upside down which is a bonus. I don’t use it on my legs because I just CANNOT get it to spray evenly on them, don’t ask me why?! The St. Tropez mousse AND the Ambre Solaire spray give an even, natural-looking colour overnight, and here’s another tip: protect your sheets with a tanning sack. That was another very wise investment… all my sheets are plain white so I’m glad they don’t end up with dubious tanning stains on them. It all sounds like a faff but it’s actually quicker than it sounds, and I like the healthy glow these products give me.

My Top 10 Affordable Health, Beauty and Well-being Products (Healthy Diet Cookbook) | Not Dressed As Lamb, Over 50 Fashion and Lifestyle Blog

3. The HBD (Human Being Diet) cookbook (£15)

I might write about the Human Being Diet (HBD) in a separate post sometime in the near future, but if you haven’t heard of it it’s a diet plan (as in “your diet”, not as in a fad) that’s being lauded by many midlife women as having helped them get fit and healthy – and to keep weight off.

It’s not a long-term restrictive way of eating; you must have three hearty meals a day, there’s no calorie counting, and you’re told to not do any (not ANY!) cardio exercise for the first two or three months. Plus, after the stricter first two weeks, you get to have a treat meal of ANYTHING you like once a week.

There are four “phases” with different rules in each, and the last phase is the “forever” phase, i.e. when you continue on, keeping the weight off and staying healthy. I lost an incredible 11lbs (5kg) in two weeks with only walking for exercise, and it didn’t feel like I was trying to do anything special. The recipes are all absolutely delicious and very easy and I felt soooooo much better for all the protein, vegetables and general goodness I had to eat.

I’m not one for fad diets – I’ve never tried Atkins, Keto, Weight Watchers or anything similar as I believe it’s too easy to fall back into bad habits once it’s over. I needed to change my habits permanently and this somehow worked when nothing else I’d tried did. I only stopped and restarted because my back went just three weeks into the programme the first time I started it (there is a lot of prep you need to do as all the meals in the first few weeks need to be cooked or prepped from scratch) and when my sciatica reared its ugly head I could barely make myself a cup of tea, let alone prep and cook a healthy stir fry or cooked breakfast. But I’m back on it (pun not intended), am just about to finish the second full week (phase 2) and am looking forward to my first weekly treat meal in phase 3 soon.

Although this is really an HBD cookbook, there’s still a lot of general information in it about HBD itself. But if you fancy reading about HBD in more detail, you can read The Human Being Diet by Petronella Ravenshear and discover more about the science behind it. It’s a very interesting read.

My Top 10 Affordable Health, Beauty and Well-being Products (Home Box Dye) | Not Dressed As Lamb, Over 50 Fashion and Lifestyle Blog

4. Garnier Olia hair colourant (£10 or 2 for £15 at Superdrug)

As someone who started working with L’Oréal five years ago, I can honestly say I’ve not found a better home box dye than Olia by Garnier. Nearly everyone I’ve spoken to who has used it (it becoming a go-to during the pandemic lockdowns) has said just how good it is. It doesn’t stink (at all), it’s easy to apply, the colour is very even and bold (maybe TOO bold?!!) and it makes hair seems super glossy and shiny. I’m not being paid to promote this ad infinitum, I’m just really happy to have found a home box dye that I love considering I can’t afford to get my hair coloured at the hairdressers anymore.

My ONLY gripe is that they’ve discontinued my beloved Rose Gold. (I’m gutted.) I’m going to try L’Oréal Preference Rose Gold Blonde next as it’s the nearest colour to what I want to achieve… fingers crossed the formula is as good as Olia.

My Top 10 Affordable Health, Beauty and Well-being Products (Shampoo and Conditioner) | Not Dressed As Lamb, Over 50 Fashion and Lifestyle Blog

5. Pureology shampoo and conditioner (£38 duo set)

I never thought that you could get an amazing shampoo. It just washes and cleans your hair, surely? Makes it feel and smell… nice? What more can it do?! That was what I thought until I tried Pureology (they do several different types but I went for the dry, coloured hair version) – oh my god it’s so much better than any other shampoo I’ve ever tried. For a start, you only need a TINY amount to get a good lather. It smells gorgeous, not just nice. It rinses out easily. And the conditioner is thick and gloopy and delicious. Using them together results in hair that blow dries beautifully and looks amazing. The difference just really, really surprised me (so THAT’S what an amazing shampoo does?!).

I will admit these ARE pricier than “affordable” as per the rest of this list, I’ve kinda sneaked these in. But I honestly think they’re worth it. I’ve had the seal of approval from a hairstylist on a photoshoot when I was asked what shampoo and conditioner I used, and I said Pureology… the stylist’s eyes lit up and he agreed with me that YES they are the absolute bomb for haircare. Not just me, then.

My Top 10 Affordable Health, Beauty and Well-being Products (Face Setting Powder) | Not Dressed As Lamb, Over 50 Fashion and Lifestyle Blog

6. bareMinerals Illuminating Mineral Veil (£22)

I have used bareMinerals mineral veil for YEARS and will probably never change it. Nothing else I’ve ever tried has come close to looking as invisible and as dewy as this, and the illuminating version that I prefer has tiny sparkles that make it look like your skin has a natural sheen to it without any chalkiness or dryness (perfect for dry, perimenopausal skin like mine). Plus, it sets makeup beautifully. Don’t ask me how it looks invisible but also seems to even out your skin tone; until I put a light dusting of this on I look blotchy and tired. One sweep later and voilà! Natural, dewy-looking skin. Magic in a pot, especially when you combine it with…

My Top 10 Affordable Health, Beauty and Well-being Products (Foundation and Brush) | Not Dressed As Lamb, Over 50 Fashion and Lifestyle Blog

7. IT Cosmetics CC Cream foundation with SPF50 (£30) and Magic foundation brush by Jacqueline Kalab (£42)

I’ve tried LOADS of different foundations over the years (not the super expensive ones, just the cheaper ones and the middle-priced ranges. I’ve never been able to afford crazy-priced foundations). My main gripes have usually been colour match and coverage/finish, which I’ve generally found to be too thick or cakey… neither of which is ideal for me. I’d rather forgo foundation altogether than wear a thick, visible one. Then I discovered IT Cosmetics foundations, and my world was ROCKED. (Slight exaggeration there, I’m just leaning on the dramatic.) I’ve talked before about the IT Cosmetics foundation, and although there are several different ones, I love the Your Skin But Better version: it does what it says on the tin. As mentioned in that post from last year, I don’t know how it’s described as full coverage (it is) but doesn’t look like it. I don’t wear concealer anymore – just this. It’s practically invisible and I love it.

The brush: the brush is perfect. Although £42 is pricey, I was spending loads on Beautyblender sponges that would eventually wear out and get a bit minging – they’re £16 (!) a go, so one Jacqueline Kalab brush that lasts forever is much, much better value in the long run. The bristles are soft and dense and the finish it gives is heaps better than the Beautyblender’s so I’m very happy I bought one.

My Top 10 Affordable Health, Beauty and Well-being Products (Water Bottle with Time Markers) | Not Dressed As Lamb, Over 50 Fashion and Lifestyle Blog

8. Fitness water bottle with time marker tracker

Our bodies are roughly 60% water, blah, blah, blah… we know the drill. Drink more water, etc. etc. But sometimes that’s easier said than done and you find yourself halfway through the day and realising you haven’t yet had any plain water to drink. This water solves all that: the times of the day are marked on the bottle so you can see exactly where you should be and when with your drinking water habits. I take mine everywhere (and if you don’t like black there are also colourless bottle/white lid and purple versions too), and I mean everywhere. Two fill-ups of this bad boy a day and I’m weeing a lot but also my skin is clearer and I feel more alert. Oh and it’s BIG, holding 2 litres, is 100% BPA-free and the long straw design means no tipping up of the bottle required (good for drinking in the car), plus it has a loop built into the lid so can be carried with it swinging from your finger. I’ve tried many water bottles over the years and I’ll buy this exact one again if I ever needed to.

If you want a prettier version (with nice colours) go for this similar 2 litre bottle with time markers in pinks, purples, greens or blues.

My Top 10 Affordable Health, Beauty and Well-being Products (Happiness and Wellbeing Book) | Not Dressed As Lamb, Over 50 Fashion and Lifestyle Blog

9. The Happiness Revolution (£6)

Described as “a manifesto for living your best life”, I read this book about achieving happiness from cover to cover as soon as I got it – I almost never do that with non-fiction/self-help books (normally I dip in and out of chapters that I fancy reading the most). But it was such an easy read and made SO much sense that it’s the sort of book you should read, say, once a year to remind yourself about how your own happiness is important and achievable.

It’s honestly the best book ever if you’re struggling to deal with anxiety, crappy midlife shit or general low mood: “Built on simple and practical principles, The Happiness Revolution is a thought-provoking and fun read which will have an immediate positive effect on your life and the lives of those around you”. This book is a DELIGHT and you’re guaranteed to feel happier and more contented after you’ve read it than you were before.

My Top 10 Affordable Health, Beauty and Well-being Products (Freckles Maker) | Not Dressed As Lamb, Over 50 Fashion and Lifestyle Blog

10. Go Ho waterproof freckles makeup stamp (£8)

Yet another product I’ve spent years trying to find the perfect version of… this is the best IMHO. I’ve been drawing on freckles since I stopped going in the sun and started wearing SPF daily and my natural face freckles disappeared. In fact I started when I was still at college, so that’s at least 30 years (did I really graduate 30 years ago?!) of painting on freckles: this ain’t no 2020s trend for me…! I’ve tried eyebrow pencil (my go-to for years), henna, specialised freckle pens, tattoo brow stain, the lot. But someone, somewhere mentioned this and it sounded like the sort of thing I’d have designed myself. I bought it and haven’t looked back, no need for the other methods at all anymore.

It’s quicker than the single dotting of a pen or pencil as it creates more freckles in one go with the round stamp. It’s more natural-looking as the dots are different sizes and you can blend with a light tapping of your finger. It lasts pretty much all day as it’s a temporary stain. I freakin LOVE this product so much and am so glad it was invented: hats off to you, sir/madam that created it 😀

And a few special mentions…

Nails Inc Tootsie Tamer foot file (£10) – THE best file to make your feet super soft, it’s unforgiving but works miracles.

Cordless nail drill & polisher (£18) – made mostly for acrylic nails, but I think this is the best tool ever for buffing your nails and cleaning up cuticles.

Rotating beauty/makeup organiser (£11) – so glad I bought this! My everyday makeup and skincare is easily accessible and organised.

Toe protector squishies (£10) – perfect for preventing blisters if you do a lot of walking, hiking or running.

Cetaphil Daily Defence face moisturiser SPF50 (£12) – I’ve almost eradicated the pigmentation I used to get in the summer all over my face with this day cream (Hallelujah!). Great price point for such a high SPF too.

Your turn – have you got any health, beauty and well-being products you swear by (or will you be trying any of these)? Do you think a similar post about products for perimeno and menopause would be a good idea? Tell me in the comments…!

Thanks for reading,

Kesalahan Umum Pakai Parfum yang Harus Ditinggalkan di 2024! indonesia beauty and travel blogger Miharu Julie

by Lina Clémence June 11, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Hai beauty lovers, ga berasa ya sudah awal tahun baru 2024 saja nih. Gimana liburan akhir tahun kalian? Aku mau share nih pengalaman liburan akhir tahun 2023 aku kemarin bersama keluarga terasa menyenangkan, meskipun cuaca Jakarta panas banget dan kadang bikin badan jadi bau keringat menyengat.

Scarlett Whitening Eau De Parfum

Harga Scarlett Euphoria Eau De Parfum

Packaging Scarlett Eau De Parfum Euphoria

Daya Tahan Scarlett Eau De Parfum Euphoria

Pros ✅:

● Semprotan spray yang halus sehingga nyaman digunakan.

● Wangi mewah yang ga pasaran.

● Botol dan packaging-nya cantik dan ready to go (mudah dibawa-bawa).

GIFT-ABLE BEAUTY THAT DOESN’T FEEL CRINGE TO GIVE

by Lina Clémence June 11, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Giving beauty items can sometimes seem a little odd. But trust me — these are three  beauty and wellness gifts that won’t feel weird to give:

QURE LED

Everybody’s doing it (LED) so gifting your bestie the BEST LED MASK in the game makes perfect sense

QURE LED Light Therapy Mask is THEE comprehensive LED solution because it features 5 light colors: infrared, deep red, red, amber, blue — extending beyond just circulation and collagen production, BUT ALSO wrinkle reduction, collagen boosting, firming, hyperpigmentation correction and acne reduction.  QURE also pairs with an app that allows you to customize treatment.

QURE LED Mask is my go-to for at-home, hands-free, anti-aging treatment. It’s a totally comprehensive LED solution: I’m talking wrinkle reduction, collagen boosting, firming, hyperpigmentation correction and acne reduction.

With QURE LED Mask, in a 3-minute session, I can treat acne, fade hyperpigmentation, soften fine lines and boost collagen — all while I binge my favorite show, or cook, finish getting dressed, whatever!

This mask is the one they want!

SOLAWAVE

The girls who get it get it and the girls definitely want this.

Solawave delivers smoother, more radiant, more lifted skin.

The device features :

red light therapy to promote radiant skin, reduce the look of wrinkles, and dark marks

blue light — to prevent breakouts & fade blemishes

galvanic current — a safe, noninvasive form of energy used to help boost the absorption of serums and creams

facial massage — to decrease skin bloat and enhance glow

therapeutic warmth — to aid in product penetration, boost glow, soften lines and increase firmness

I’ve been using Solawave for over a year and I WISH someone had gifted me one soon!

SAUNA BLANKET

I own two and have loaned out my spare so many times. For this reason, a sauna blanket feels perfectly not weird to give as a holiday gift. If you know someone who suffers with aches, pains, poor muscle recovery — this blanket is phenomenal. In a 45 minute session you detox seven times more than traditional sweating. The blanket puts your body in a parasympathetic state (rest and digest), burns calories, increases blood flow and circulation, reduces inflammation, releases happy chemicals and leaves you feeling euphoric, helps with sleep, melts away stress, leaves skin soft and glowing and aids muscle recovery!

Boxwalla Beauty Box Feb 2021 Review – Seoulfull Star

by Lina Clémence June 11, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Rejoice green beauty aficionados because Boxwalla has extended the deadline for their February box* featuring fabulous British Indie brand Nini Organics …perfect moment for me to officially share my thoughts and perhaps sway you to succumbing if you’ve been remotely tempted… You have until the 22nd February 2021 to subscribe.

Although skincare and experiencing products lovingly crafted by passionate brand founders always brings me joy and knowing that a box of delights curated by Boxwalla is making its way to me will always thrill me, I was especially excited to receive the February 2021 box. January is a always a difficult month, dreary and bleak and to receive these gorgeous, vibrant, antioxidant rich products from Nini Organics felt somewhat akin to colour therapy. I’m well versed with Nini Organics and after an introduction to this lovely British (yay!) brand last year by way of their Natura Detox Foam cleanser, I was ecstatic that an entire box dedicated to this joy-inducing brand was on the horizon. Over my years of using green, indie brands, I have come to truly believe that brand creators somehow infuse their aura, their essence  (no pun intended) in all their magical concoctions. Products end up mimicking their makers and everything from the Nini Organics line is bright, characteristically colourful, effervescent, festive and highly effective- just like founder Alex. If you don’t follow them, I highly recommend for a dose of Alex every morning. His infectious enthusiasm will leave you truly happy. It just so happened that the 2 products, Crimson Beauty and Rain Hydrating Essence were high on my wishlist (doesn’t even surprise me, I am convinced Lavanya, the founder of Boxwalla is a psychic and knows exactly what my heart desires…)

Let’s start with what I consider the star of this box- Crimson Beauty. Firstly, you get 50ml of this gleaming red beauty, a generous size (for which I’m grateful as I don’t EVER want to run out!).  This is hydration galore. Hello, juicy, plump skin! And the scent…I think I’ve died and gone to heaven. It’s a real pleasure to use this every morning, with its delicately floral rose+neroli aroma, punctuated by comforting vanilla and cacao hmmm. Crimson beauty contains a hibiscus macerate (hibiscus is a flower I’m so drawn to as I love those bold, bright conspicuous petals that you find in all gardens in Mauritius, where I grew up), rose otto and neroli hydrosol bolstered by cucumber, glycerine and Quora Noni (which protects skin’s microbiome) to make a fabulously cocooning formulation. My favourite way to use it is in conjunction with an oil creating what is called a micro emulsion (which just happens to be my favourite word at the moment. Give me all the microemulsions, my skin cannot handle dense balms at the moment). Crimson Beauty is all I want a hyrdrating serum to be and it’s a resounding yes from me.

Next comes Rain. The colour of royalty, this cucumber scented mist has been a wonderful addition to my routines. I do love it post cleansing but mostly rely on it during the day, to infuse my skin with a burst of much needed moisture.  Rain contains just a kiss of glow inducing lactic acid so it’s not overly and cloyingly hydrating but actually balancing- the perfect midday mist basically. Whilst my preference always lies with finer mists normally, Rain comes gushing out but not aggressively though, but in the most pleasantly therapeutic manner, as if you’ve been caught in a lush drizzle of cucumber extract, neroli water, butterfly pea flower extract and milk thistle. It’s not a mere mist, the ingredient roster does really read like a wonderful serum and the fact that I’m misting myself with reckless abandon and whizzing through it at the speed of lightening speaks volumes.

I’m so pleased Lavanya chose to include this adorable miniature sample of Halo Cleansing Elixir for everyone to experience its glory. This is the first product I fell in love with from the Nini Organics line some years ago and I couldn’t help gushing about it, I’m surprise it hasn’t becoming a cult favourite yet.  For all lovers of blue tansy, this is a must try, in its passionfruit oil and jojoba oil base. I especially enjoy it as directed by Alex, massaged onto skin and removed with a cold washcloth, which is why I am saving it for warmer months to come. The high content of azulene really helps calm down any inflammation and I’m impatiently waiting for it’s return in my warm weather routines.

Once again, a perfectly selected box to start 2021 from Boxwalla. Get your hands on one while you can and if you’re a lover of luxury, plant-powered skincare, do consider subscribing to Boxwalla, it’s basically skincare nirvana.

*This box was gifted to me with no obligation to review.

Makeup and Beauty Blog Monday Poll, Vol. 882

by Lina Clémence June 10, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

So…what is the Monday Poll?

Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).

1. Loose or fitted t-shirts?

Generally, I like my tees slightly loose-y goose-y if I’m wearing them with jeans or shorts. If I’m layering with a sweater or a sweatshirt on top, then fitted.

2. What’s the oldest thing in your makeup bag right now?

Hmm, the brushes? Oh, and I’m almost embarrassed to say this out loud, but I have an ancient Nordstrom Naturals MAC palette that I bust out every so often.

3. How’s your June going so far?

It’s been very, very busy with end-of-the-year activities, dance things and whatnot. Things will kinda slow down after June 30, which I’m looking forward to.

4. How do you feel about walking around in sandals or flip flops without your toenails painted?

I like my toe nails to be painted a fun color, but I don’t stress if I don’t get around to a weekly pedicure.

5. What are you happy about right now?

Well, today’s my birthday, and I’m overjoyed to say that I’m healthy and I’m alive! Having health scares will do that to ya, I guess. I’m also happy to be surrounded by the people I love the most. Oh, and the opportunity to do something creative that’s just for me (like the Monday poll) is the icing on the cake. I’ve been on the verge of happy tears all day. It’s been a great!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Here are the questions to copy/paste with your answers in a comment. Talk to ya soon.

1. Loose or fitted t-shirts?
2. What’s the oldest thing in your makeup bag right now?
3. How’s your June going so far?
4. How do you feel about walking around in sandals or flip flops without your toenails painted?
5. What are you happy about right now?

the raeviewer – a premier blog for skin care and cosmetics from an esthetician’s point of view: Best of Fall 2020 Beauty Favorites featuring Skin Care + Life Update

by Lina Clémence June 9, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Hello, everyone!  What a break it has been.  I am making a comeback, rejuvenated refreshed and ready to create content after becoming a licensed esthetician!  It has been a long journey and an evolution, to be a bit dramatic, but I’m proud to have made it back here here.  This post took me an entire week from start to finish as I’m rusty beyond belief.

It feels a bit unfamiliar since this is my first foray into blogging in over a year, and I’m learning everything all over again with a new camera among other aspects, so I decided to start with what is essentially a list of the products I’ve loved this year and am continuing to use into the Fall season.

Grab that cup of coffee or tea and let’s get started!

Go-To Skin Care Snack Pack — This Australian brand is gosh darn phenomenal.  I had to start with the Snack Size Minis because Go-To is totally underrated in the American market, and that makes me sad because their simple approach to skin care is spot on!  Go-To’s philosophy is simple and fuss-free way.  Their marketing is upbeat, clever, and hilarious yet totally informative and their branding is peach, my favorite color.  Most importantly, Go-To is a gem in the current skin care market because they don’t spread misinformation to sell you products that you do not need.

The travel sized goodies in the Snack Size Set are the perfect introduction to the brand, but it’s a limited edition set so order yours asap!  Plus I’m a complete and utter sucker for those acrylic zippy bags lol I’ll be purchasing a few more sets to give as Christmas gifts.  I almost exclusively oil cleanse, and the Fancy Face Oil Cleanser is one of my Top 3 picks of all time which is why I was ecstatic to see it in mini form with a dropper.  It feels comforting and luxe because the texture is so plush, and it lifts all traces of unwanted sunscreen makeup and secreted sebum at the end of the day.

Apply Fancy Face to a dry face with dry clean hands.  Massage for 30 seconds then wipe clean with the provided muslin cloth (dampened with warm water and wrung out).  Their gentle foaming Properly Clean Cleanser is also brilliant if you don’t oil cleanse.  I finished up my first bottle and purchased a second to use in the mornings when I’m in a rush.

Another thing that I love about Go-To is that their signature Face Hero Face Oil functions as an anti-inflammatory serum so to speak because you use it BEFORE their Very Useful moisturizer.  I like to use 3 drops over face, neck and chest in the morning and 5 drops at night.  It’s calming and versatile.  If you’re feeling extra dry, mix a drop into your foundation for extra glow and glide.

Please note: this process does not apply to all oils and all moisturizers.  But Go-To designed their oil to be a lightweight powerhouse that absorbs quickly, and their simple three step routine is more than enough to keep your face balanced especially when your skin is overly sensitized, compromised or stressed.

Last but not least, Go-To’s full-sized Very Useful Face Cream moisturizer comes in my preferred 50mL tube.  It is my product of choice for mornings post-Tretinoin (rx Retin-A) as my skin is usually dry and dehydrated from the new treatment.  My skin is at the end of the first month of adjustment so Very Useful has been essential as it restores my skin’s hydration levels and makes my skin feel supple without being excessively occlusive or leaving a greasy film.

In the Snack Pack, it comes in a tiny 15mL jar but this way I can refill it easily and sanitize it easily as well.  The 100ml Very Useful moisturizer comes in a large jar, though I recommend buying squeeze tube or pump packaging when available.

You can purchase Go-To through their website which gives you the option of choosing a promotional gift like the peach and gold NICE! keychain above.  How cool is that?

SkinCeuticals Phloretin C F Gel — SkinCeuticals is the gold standard for Vitamin C serums.  Why?  Their patented formulas ensure stability, penetration, correct pH and efficacy.  Pure Vitamin C or L-ascorbic acid is highly unstable and most Vitamin C serums on the market do not penetrate the skin barrier.  They simply sit on the surface of the skin.  Clinical research doesn’t mean everything and it certainly doesn’t guarantee results, but when it comes to Vitamin C, I have only repurchased SkinCeuticals.  My skin was not cooperating with their famed C E Ferulic serum when I first tried it on recommendation from my dermatologist, but I think I’ll go back to it and try again now that my skin is back to dry.

SkinCeuticals recommended that I try the Phloretin C F Gel since it is better tolerated by those with oily acne prone skin.  It absolutely helped with my hyperpigmentation, and I will continue to keep it in rotation but next time I plan to try the standard Phloretin C F serum not the gel version.  I’d like to give those who are interested some comparative feedback!

The 2% phloretin, 10% pure vitamin C, and 0.5% ferulic acid in the Gel formula neutralizes free radicals while absorbing immediately upon application, making it the ideal daytime serum.  The lower Vitamin C level makes it easier for the skin to adjust, especially if you’ve never used a Vitamin C before.  More does not mean better!  The gel is an orange color and the smell of it bothered me at first because it has a vinegary, medicinal note but I’m glad they didn’t try to cover up its natural smell with fragrances.  If you have discoloration and textural issues like I do, give Phloretin C F Gel a try!

Kerastase Genesis Strengthening Blow Dry Primer — This leave in spray treatment for fine hair is ultra lightweight and it works.  It detangles, hydrates, and adds shine.  Yes, I’m sure there are more affordable options out there but I love the spray nozzle because it doesn’t clog.  It also does not cause “backne” which is awesome since my back is easily broken out or irritated by leave in products.  User experience is important to me and the bottle is easy to grip, and 4-5 sprays into my palms can coat all the ends of my hair.  I find that this formula is hydrating enough without leaving an undesirable residue behind like other heavier more intensive treatments I have tried.

If you use an oil for medium to thick locks, this Genesis Strengthening Blow Dry Primer is not the product for you as it’s specifically formulated for fine hair.  I highly recommend this leave in because my hair is far less frizzy with visibly noticeable fewer split ends even when air dried.  When I blow dry, I spray roots to tips with this stuff and it’s so light that it doesn’t take away from the volume that I work so hard, sweating and straining, to achieve with my round brush.

Oribe Serene Scalp Thickening Treatment Spray — My scalp has had on and off issues with dandruff and significant thinning in the last year, and I figured it was time to get product to help it.  Oribe says this treatment will “fortify the scalp to promote fuller, thicker, healthier looking hair” and I can attest to that.  I had tried the Oribe Volumista Mist in the past when I had red hair, but it did nothing for volume and felt rather like an old lady’s hair spray overall.

It has since been reformulated and is in the sleeker more elegant packaging style but I’ll stay the course with this Serene Scalp Mist in pink packaging because it is so refreshing on my scalp and there is no more dandruff.  Also I treat this as a styling product, not a solution to my hair’s thinness.  I try my best not to have unrealistic expectations of products.  It pairs very well with the Kerastase Primer, and together, I think they give my recent (regretful) kpop haircut a bit more oomph!

OUAI Byredo Dry Shampoo — The fragrance is a bit intense than I expected but the formula is more than satisfactory.  In fact, I’m pretty impressed with Jen Atkin’s line and I use her shampoos along with some other styling products even though I find other celebrity stylists’ ranges totally overrated.  I primarily purchased this for the packaging because I adore Byredo, can’t lie, but it is the ideal product for controlling the oil that builds up on my bangs.  It’s limited edition and exclusive to Sephora so I’ve since ordered two back ups from Sephora, and I don’t even like dry shampoo lol.  I normally use Miriam Quevedo dry shampoo which is super expensive, but I’m happy to add this to the rotation for second hair days.

Dry shampoos cause scalp flaking and irritation (due to the film it creates), and that definitely applies to my sensitive scalp if I use dry shampoo multiple days in a row so I keep it to one application between washings.  To clarify, I only use this OUAI Byredo Dry Shampoo on my bangs, and a little goes a long way.  Also, the internet is full of women who go a whole week without washing due to thin hair or hair color, and they’re apparently able to use dry shampoo daily but please note that this is unhealthy for your scalp’s health.

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream — I ordered this formula in the silver packaging and enjoyed it so much that I ordered the Oil-Free Matte SPF 40 formula in the green packaging.  I prefer the matte at the moment due to my bangs but come winter, I will wear the original most days.  The original SPF 50+ version provides the most lovely glow! Setting with powder is unnecessary since the formula is long wearing.  I saw it on my beautiful coworker and she has extremely sensitive acneic skin so please give this a try if you have yet to find a foundation that works for you.

I wear both in Fair, which is does mean that the shades run dark quite dark since I am technically in the Light-Medium category in most foundations.  When comparing the shades, Fair in the original CC+ Cream SPF 50+ is a smidge lighter (right swatch) than its oil-free counterpart with cooler more pink undertones, while Fair in the matte CC+ Cream SPF 40 (left swatch) is a half a shade darker than the og formula with noticeably warmer yellow undertones — which makes it the perfect match for my current skin tone.  I hope they expand the shade range for fair skinned women since most of my girl friends would need an Ivory shade or even lighter, to be frank.  This is great news for those with tan and dark skin, however, as you’re likely to find a shade match!

The coverage is impressive, but one issue I have is that the pump is far too generous.  I only need to use an extra small pearl sized amount for my entire face and neck plus I have extra to apply on healing hyperpigmentation.  You’d have to use an insane cake face amount to get the advertised sunscreen protection level so please apply a broad spectrum SPF as the last step of your skin care routine and let it set before applying the CC+ Cream.  The original formula feels luxuriously creamy, while the matte formula feels supremely velvety.  Both are worth every penny.  Unfortunately, I purchased both in Light originally which is a bummer but I’ll be gifting them to my coworker!

Cosmedix Opti Crystal Eye Serum — I’m not a huge fan of eye products because most don’t make a visible enough difference to justify the costs.  I’ve never had a holy grail eye product until now, but this feels unlike anything else on the market.  The pearlescent color is beautiful but hardly noticeable once it’s on my face.  The texture is shockingly viscous and tacky.  I actually love that but Opti Crystal might not appeal to everyone due to the learning curve which is why I assume it has some negative reviews.

Squeeze out a pin-sized drop and gently rub it between ring fingers to warm it up (about 10 seconds) before applying.  I pat it on from inner corner to outer corner, tapping firmly to create circulation which helps to temporarily diminish dark circles.  I then take the residue on my finger pads and apply it to the brow bone, always using patting motions.  Don’t get too close to the tear ducts or lash lines since that can cause swelling and we don’t want to wake up with swollen eyes.  Once you get the hang of the application, you’ll start seeing results.  The same massaging principle as oil cleansing applies here; take your time and enjoy the process. It takes all of 30 seconds..you can do it! #selflove #selfcare

I still use and recommend PCA Skin Revitalizing Eye Gel if you’re looking for something that also performs well but has a gel texture that absorbs quickly and will not cause milia.  This is more hydrating on my eyes, and I find it better for day time.  It is only product that is approved to use on your eyelids that I can personally vouch for.  Same price, similar results, very user friendly.

Living Libations Best Skin Ever Seabuckthorn — I gave this oil multi-tasker a try because of another esthetician who recommended it.  Because I oil cleanse religiously, I wanted to see if this was as good as she made it sound.  The BSE line up by Living Libations is meant to be used as cleanser or moisturizer, and it contains seabuckthorn oil, golden jojoba oil, virgin coconut oil, lavender, vetiver, grapefruit, and palmarosa essential oils.  You can find Living Libations at other retailers but I prefer to order directly through their site since the batch will be guaranteed fresh, even though the standard Canadian post does take a few weeks.  I’d rather wait for the good stuff!

My skin abhors coconut oil, and Best Skin Ever Seabuckthorn has a lot of it BUT it totally works wonders now that I figured out the ideal way to use it on my finicky skin.  I first followed the directions on the Living Libations website and used 2 pumps on their damp, wrung-out warm hemp washcloth, and it broke out my cheeks and chin with whiteheads.  I waited until the reaction cleared up, and a few months later I’m in love with it!

The key is to use it like a cleansing oil at first with dry face and clean dry hands.  Warm it up between the hands and massage your face slowly for ten to twenty seconds.  Using warm water, dampen two cotton rounds and press out the water, using those to cleanse and remove the oil.  Take your time and give it about a minute, maybe two, gently gliding the cotton pads around every nook and cranny of your face.  I do the same with BSE Sandalwood, although I only use that particular oil blend at nighttime.

It’s a fantastic manual method of cleansing, same concept as Go-To’s Fancy Face, except I use cotton rounds with BSE instead of a muslin cloth.  I’m a fan either way!

Just make sure to remove the traces of any BSE oil by using a toner with a cotton round before applying any serums and moisturizers if you have reactions to coconut oil as I do.  And if you hate coconut oil or are allergic to it, I am head over heels for the Sandalwood Best Skin Ever which does not contain any!  I alternate between the two depending on my mood and what products I’ll be following the BSE with.  I also ordered Neroli to try at night time as well, but that won’t be delivered until next week.

Dr. Sturm Anti-Pollution Drops
 — This is one of my favorite day time serums.  I think my four (nearly) empty bottles are plenty to attest to that.  I’m excited to open up my fifth!  This thin gel of a serum is the perfect step after toner since it contains hyaluronic acid and sinks in so beautifully while softening my fine lines.  It also helps speed up healing my acne, although that is not one of the advertised qualities of the serum.

I don’t believe the Anti-Pollution marketing, but it’s a fabulous water-based serum and I use it before LED masking a couple times a week or before spending extended time outdoors.  Also, Dr. Sturm’s pipette packaging is phenomenal.  The frosted glass feels ultra luxe and does not leak even when traveling.   The price is on the high end for a fairly simple ingredient list but this Anti-Pollution Drops serum plays well with my dry sensitive skin.  I can hardly believe I have kept this in rotation for over a year now.  Coming from a skincare junkie who bounces around constantly, that’s a huge vote of confidence!

Dermalogica Oil Free Matte Sunscreen — I bought it since it’s formulated for acne prone skin.  I finished my first tube last week and will be breaking into a brand new one, yipee!  It absorbs in about 15 minutes so I try to wait at least ten minutes before applying CC cream or powder foundation.   I love that it feels like a rich moisturizer, but it doesn’t clog my pores or feel greasy whatsoever.  No maskne here!  When it’s hot or humid outside, I’ll actually use Oil Free Matte SPF 30 in place of a moisturizer, meaning serum then straight to this sunscreen.  It is perfect for the summer months as the squeeze tube packaging is travel friendly and I can pop it into my bag for reapplication on the go.

Keep in mind that you need to use 1 teaspoon for your whole face and neck.  Although I’ll probably switch back to Elta MD UV Clear SPF46 (which is significantly cheaper especially with the Dermstore subscription discount) come winter, this Dermalogica formula has earned its firm position in my best sunscreen picks!

Coolibar UPF 50+ Quick Dry Devi Long Sleeves — This isn’t a beauty product so it will be a bonus favorite in 11th place, but I discovered Coolibar, a brand developed to protect skin cancer patients, this year and I’m a huge fan of their sun protection hats and clothing.  I wore the Kids’ Stevie Hat in L/XL when I went camping with my boyfriend’s family in Utah and it was a lifesaver.  Allen’s mom loved it so much I ordered her one in white to wear while gardening.  Any sign of a tan is considered a skin injury, and since I give myself PCA chemical peels regularly, I have become extra aggressive about sun protection!  I have thrown all semblance of shame out the window.  Even if I look funny or people think I’m strange, I am going to be wearing hats and shields and face coverings of all kinds while outdoors (while still reapplying SPF every hour).

And if there’s one good thing that came out of the pandemic, it is that wearing a face mask has been normalized!  I own the Coolibar face mask as well but my favorite and most frequently worn product they make is the Devi Fitness Long Sleeves which I own in black and charcoal heather.  It’s so comfortable and fits well, dries fast when it gets sweaty, has thumb holes to cover the backs of my hands, and is long enough to cover my bum or not ride up!  Size up as UPF 50+ clothing is meant to be worn a little loose.  You don’t want to stretch the garments because that reduces the sun protection.

It is approximated that 50-80% of total UV damage occurs before the age of 21, and that is mostly the damage that I’m currently trying to undo.  I have to admit before I was 21, I hated the feeling of sunscreen and refused to wear it daily even though I knew I should.  My grandmother would harass us, so I would use Shiseido liquid chemical or Clinique tinted mineral sunscreens sometimes.  Not consistently, of course.  Running cross country, playing tennis, and sweating outdoors in general made me averse to sunscreen but now I wear sunscreen religiously.  Please be advised that even if you’re at home all day, if you open up the blinds you need to wear sunscreen and reapply between 11am to 1pm because UVA the aging rays still penetrate through windows which cause wrinkles and can worsen hyperpigmentation!

Okay, here’s the life update for those who are interested:

Life has been wild.

In a nutshell 2019 was arguably the most difficult year of my life.  I was too emotionally, mentally, and physically drained to think about blogging and taking photos, much less shooting tutorials or review videos.  It was so tumultus, from growing pains to moving twice to going back to school, to juggling two esthetician jobs while rediscovering San Diego plus weekend wedding makeup gigs, and strangest of all — finally getting settled with working.. NOT from home and NOT being the boss.

As strange as that might sound to some, I worked for myself and by myself throughout my entire 20s.  I was the boss!  My own boss.  The transition was challenging at times, but I have found happiness in far fewer responsibilities and a lighter workload.  I feel significantly less pressure to be thin and styled and trendy, and that, I think, lifted most of the unbearable anxiety that I suffered from in my young adult years.

Of course there are new problems, like carpal tunnel from repetitive facial motions and early onset arthritis which I believe to be genetic.  Now that I am nearing 32, my body is changing in ways I never expected it to!  I have pain in my lower back and for most of 2020, I was bloated from either drinking alcohol during the beginning of the lock down and then later on from the heavy weight gain due to the excess sweets (although it is totally my own fault as I was too lazy and not disciplined enough to exercise at home).  Props to all of you who did not succumb to the Pandemic 15!!

Now that I am focused more than ever on skin care and health from the inside out, specifically gut health, I have begun a second foray into vegan food.  I won’t be committing to it full time, as I don’t see it being sustainable for the rest of my life, but I have largely cut out all protein other than fish and shellfish.  Now I eat a ton more vegetables and have banned candy and almost all processed sugar from the pantry.  My motivation is due to my lifelong IBS and the 25 pounds I have put on since Summer 2019.

It is a bit worrisome that I was 105 pounds, my usual weight, when I first moved back down to San Diego and gained what is essentially a healthy pregnancy weight for my 5’0 height.  It makes me laugh just thinking about it.  The happy weight from my loving relationship with my boyfriend Allen and the “stay-at-home and do nothing but play with food” pandemic weight packed on so quickly!  Simply put, I was eating nearly as much as Allen who is 6’0 and just generally, enjoying my time off a bit too much.

I no longer believe that the number on the scale defines me.  I am, however, uncomfortable.  Twenty-five pounds is no joke on my frame.  I am choosing to lose weight for my health, better breathing, straighter posture, glowing skin, and deeper sleep.  Even my voice sounds different which is weird!! I am not doing it simply because I have to be thin for a photoshoot.  Although I do have to be small enough to fit into my clothes.. cuz buying new clothes is an expensive and difficult endeavor!

Anyway, I am so grateful to my wonderful partner Allen because he has brought so much happiness and goodness to my life.  He is the absolute best fur dad to Beau, and we even did the crazy thing of getting a puppy together!  Belle is a red tri Australian Shepherd.  Beau is a red merle.  They are the most adorable pair, and they bring me so much joy every darn day!!  Belle is finally crate trained after 4.5 weeks, and we just have 4 more weeks until she can use the bathroom outdoors.  We set up an Instagram called The Ganibears — a play on Allen’s last name — if you’d like to follow along our Aussie pup adventures.

If you made it all the way down here, thanks for reading!! xo

7th Heaven Pink Oxygen Bubble Mask Review – Hoots Of Beauty

by Lina Clémence June 6, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Bubble masks are not new. They have been around in the K Beauty scene for years. However, 7th Heaven has the first cruelty free bubble masks I have seen. There are two to pick from Pink Oxygen and Charcoal. In Canada, you can pick up the 7th Heaven Pink Oxygen Bubble Mask from Farleyco, and some drug stores for around $5.

Like other sheet masks, this bubble mask is very easy to use. You do need to rub the package to active the bubbles before opening. This mask will start bubbling soon after to opening the package. The mask will bubble for the whole 10 minutes. The mask does have a scent, like citrus.

I would be careful if you have very sensitive skin as this mask has a blend of grapefruit,  raspberry and lemon. These ingredients are antioxidants, but they can be irritating to the skin.

Overall, the 7th Haven Pink Oxygen Bubble Mask is a fun sheet mask. It is relaxing to use and worth it for the selfies. I wouldn’t over do this mask due to the grapefruit, raspberry and lemon.
