I have been plus size my whole life. When you’re plus size, growing up in the early 2000’s (before online shopping…), you had to shop in speciality stores for my occasion dresses, for swimsuits, etc. I don’t know WHY I didn’t think I would want or need a mattress that was made specifically for my plus size body.

Is Big Fig the best mattress for plus size people?

Flashback to 2019 with me….I’m embarrassed to say how long I had my old, lumpy mattress. I was SO in need of a new mattress, I started doing research and Big Fig immediately came up as the best mattress for larger bodies. My boyfriend and I are both big and tall people – we needed a mattress with a weight limit that would support our sleep and our life’s. I am so serious about my bed being my safe space. We needed to make the right decision for us and our wallets!

 Does a Big Fig Mattress last?

We have had our Big Fig for five years and I am thrilled to report it has lasted. The 20 year warranty made the purchase easier but our Big Fig is still supportive, not sagging and not lumpy. 

A quick google search says you should change your mattress every seven years and I feel like I’m getting every single penny with my Big Fig. We have the King size mattress, with the Big Fig bed frame and foundation – the works.

I am THRILLED with how our Big Fig has latest, held up and kept it’s form five years in. Whenever someone is looking for a mattress recommendation – I feel very confident Big Fig is the best. What you get for the cost – in my opinion – can’t be beat!

Is a Big Fig mattress firm?

The Big Fig is a medium firmness. It has coils wrapped in foam, so you wont sink into the mattress as much as you will sleep on top of the mattress. The top of the Big Fig mattress is very plushy, so it’s very comfortable to sleep on. If you’re looking for a mattress that you sink into and you sleep more “inside of it”….Big Fig isn’t that. For me – I really needed the medium firmness to keep the mattress shape, to support my back (soft mattresses make my back hurt!) and get my best night’s sleep. 

Big Fig vs Back Pain?

Okay you know the couches and beds that engulf you because they’re so soft, like the cloud couch?! I love them for a short amount of time but….that couldn’t be the bed I sleep in every night. If I dont have a supportive mattress, I will wake up cranky with a sore back in the morning. I am a side sleeper and I move around during the night, so a mattress that engulfs me was not the best option. 

Am I the only one who gets SO cranky if I have a bad nights sleep? I don’t like waking up and not feeling my best so the Big Fig was a no brainer. 

Is the Big Fig mattress worth the price?

How do I say this? Big Fig was worth EVERY penny! I’ve had people ask me online, in person, friends and family all ask “Is the Big Fig worth it?”…..baby 10/10. 10’s across the board, YES!

How was the delivery?

The best part of getting your Big Fig is that you don’t have to do anything! The Big Fig delivery service was “soft girl life” the whole way. From when I ordered to when it was delivered, was about two weeks. We had ordered the whole Big Fig system: King size mattress, foundation and bed frame. 

The Big Fig team arrived and took away my old mattress (did I say how embarrassingly lumpy it was!). They then assembled everything for us and were done with the service within an hour. It was so low touch and gave the experience of buying a new mattress a luxury feel! We are all about the luxury feel. 

It did take about a month to get used to the mattress and feel like the mattress really got my body shape. I have some of the most comfortable night sleeps on this Big Fig and I’m so thrilled I listened to the reviews. 

WHY was Big Fig worth it and why would I recommend it to everyone?

If you’re plus size or bigger bodied you know how things not made for our sized bodies can be uncomfortable. I’m looking right at you economy plane seats! It really is a no-brainer to get a mattress made to support your body. As a plus size and tall person – I needed a mattress that would be able to support me not only on a very basic weight limit but also go beyond that. To me, there is no question that Big Fig is the only mattress that addressed my needs. 

I recommend Big Fig to anyone shopping for their next mattress. As an owner for five years – I look forward to sleeping on my Big Fig for the next many years to come!
