Coming Full Circle

Just booked my vacation to California for the end of this month and I’m super excited!  This trip is bitter sweet as I know this may very well be the last time I see my grandfather before he passes.  But I am very grateful to have the time and means to make it out!

The word traveled fast when I told my dad I booked the trip.  Within the hour I had calls from my cousin and other family members making sure I had them on the itinerary for a visit.  I have to say, it feels great to be in a place where my presence is wanted.  I miss California for sure and looking forward to all the fun things they have planned to do while I’m there.

One of the things on the agenda is Disney.  Nostalgic from my childhood, one of my earliest and fondest memories was visiting Disneyland for the first time.  Being in such awww of the beautiful sites and the excitement from seeing the characters filled me with joy.  I was more the thrill seeker so the faster the ride, the higher the roller coaster the more excited I became.  I’ve always had an attraction to adrenaline rushes and danger!
We also plan to hit Magic Mountain which was a place visited as a child also.  I remember my dad taking us as kids with all the cousins and we had a blast!  I had always wanted to be the son he never had, and strives to keep his approval.  Being the best was important.
That brings me to a bonding memory with my father when I was around 11.  He took me, my step brother and sister and my half sister to the dunes where you can ride doom buggies, dirt bikes and four wheelers.  My step brother was afraid to let loose and ride the quad.  It really pissed my dad off that he was “driving ms daisy” on an expensive piece of machinery that was designed to speed through the dunes and kick ass.  So he made him grt off and told him to get in the baby doom buggy.  He then sets me up on the quad, tells me how to drive it since this was my first time and vroom I was gone!  Flying over the hills you couldn’t even tell I was a girl the way I was hauling ass through the dunes.  After a nice run, I come back and my dad is smiling from ear to ear and says, “Now that’s how you ride a four wheeler!  That’s my girl!”

It came naturally to have no fear and just take risks, go for it and if I fail, get back up and try again.  A value that would remain with me my whole life and I just realized how that moment was pivotal to who I am.   The fearless confidence that my father instilled in me since birth was the very foundation of my happiness today.
So needless to say, this trip is beyond over due and can’t get here soon enough!

by Lina Clémence July 18, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

In this ALPAKA Elements Backpack Pro review, I’ll take a closer look at whether this backpack lives up to its claims, from its thoughtful design to its performance on the go.

As an avid traveler who’s constantly on the move—whether navigating busy city streets or sprinting through airport terminals—I’m always eager to try out new backpacks that can keep up with my fast-paced lifestyle.

But adobe all, I love testing products from sustainable brands that use recycled materials to reduce waste, and ALPAKA’s Axoflux recycled polyester and X-Pac® immediately piqued my interest. I wanted to see if this backpack could live up to its promises and truly deliver on both sustainability and performance.

It’s always a bit of a gamble, but as someone who’s always searching for that perfect balance of style, practicality, and environmental responsibility, I was excited to give it a try and see if it’s worth the hype.

ALPAKA Gear is one of those Kickstarter success stories that keeps you rooting for them. We first discovered them back when they were raising funds for their sleek messenger bags. The hype was real, and when they launched their first-ever backpack, the Shift Backpack. Fast forward a few years, and ALPAKA has not only survived but thrived (unlike a few Kickstarter projects gathering dust in our regrets pile).

They’ve expanded their lineup with slings, messengers, pouches, and, most excitingly, the ALPAKA Elements Backpack Pro.

ALPAKA Gear has earned its reputation as a powerhouse for stylish, functional bags for work, travel, and leisure. That is as adaptable as your lifestyle demands. They’ve struck a balance between urban chic and durability. If you’re the kind of person juggling between city commutes and outdoor escapades, at first glance, ALPAKA’s gear seems like it’s speaking your language.

The Black and Army Green versions use Axoflux recycled fabric, a weatherproof and tough 600D polyester made from 100% recycled materials, offering style and sustainability in one. Then, there is the  X-Pac® version that delivers superior performance with sailcloth-inspired fabric that’s lightweight, waterproof, and climate-neutral. Produced in renewable energy-powered facilities, this material represents a commitment to durability and environmental stewardship. Inside, both options feature smart linings—cool grey for Axoflux and bold Blood Orange for X-Pac®.

Add to that a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects, and they’re clearly aiming for the “buy less, buy better” ethos.

ALPAKA Elements Backpack Pro Review

Our First Impression Of the ALPAKA Elements Backpack Pro

Right off the bat, I was drawn to its sleek and structured design. This isn’t one of those floppy backpacks that loses its shape when it’s empty—this bag stands tall, literally and figuratively. The 26L capacity strikes a perfect balance: big enough to carry my essentials (and then some) without feeling like I’m lugging a small piece of luggage around.

Bonus points for the structured body and contoured shoulder straps, which feel like tiny pillows for your shoulders. I tested it out with a laptop, a water bottle, a notebook, and a few odds and ends, and my back didn’t hate me by the end of the day—a rare feat!

Speaking of organization, this backpack has thought of everything. The dedicated laptop sleeve (fits up to 16 inches!) feels super secure, and the padding is enough to keep my shoulders comfortable and pain-free. The front admin panel and hidden pockets are perfect for keeping smaller items safe and accessible. And thanks to the weatherproof fabrics and YKK Aquaguard zippers, I didn’t even have to worry about my gear getting wet.

My favorite features so far? The quick-access top pocket for my keys and wallet, the luggage passthrough for travel days, and the clever AirTag pocket because, let’s be real, I’ve already lost 3 bags over the last 5 years.

Overall, my first take is that this bag checks all the boxes for everyday use while staying stylish enough to match my on-the-go lifestyle. It’s functional, comfortable, and honestly feels like ALPAKA actually listens to the requests and ideas of their customers.

Materials

The ALPAKA Elements Backpack Pro comes in two options: X-Pac VX42 and Axoflux 600D.

The Axoflux recycled fabric, featured in the Black and Army Green versions, is the epitome of innovation and responsibility. This 100% recycled polyester is built for resilience, with a tough 600D weave that holds up against daily wear and tear while sporting a subtle, sophisticated sheen. It’s also weatherproof, ensuring your gear stays dry no matter how unpredictable your day gets.

For those seeking even more technical prowess, the X-Pac option steps up with a fabric inspired by advanced sailcloth technology. Developed by Dimension-Polyant, this material is lightweight yet incredibly strong, making it ideal for urban explorers who demand durability without bulk. The X-Pac® fabric is also 100% waterproof and produced in climate-neutral facilities powered by renewable energy. What’s more, its four-layer VX construction with a taffeta backing enhances stitch-hold, ensuring the bag remains tough through years of use. It’s hard not to appreciate a material that’s not only high-performing but also manufactured to reduce environmental impact.

Inside, the thoughtful details continue. The Axoflux-lined models feature a cool grey honeycomb pattern that balances practicality and visibility. Meanwhile, the X-Pac® versions turn things up a notch with a bold Blood Orange honeycomb lining that not only pops visually but also makes finding items a breeze. These interior finishes speak to ALPAKA’s understanding of functionality and aesthetics, blending utility with flair.

Organization and Storage

The Elements Backpack Pro doesn’t just hold your gear—it organizes. The dedicated laptop sleeve, designed to fit laptops up to 16 inches, feels secure with plush padding that protects your device from everyday bumps and bruises. The front admin panel and hidden pockets are ideal for smaller essentials like pens, cables, or your go-to snack stash. Whether you’re commuting or traveling, everything has a designated spot.

Inside Compartments the Backpack

Top Quick-Access Pocket

Located at the top of the bag, this pocket is protected by YKK AquaGuard zippers and lined with a soft material to safeguard delicate items like sunglasses. While the soft liner prevents scratches, mixing fragile items with sharp objects like keys isn’t the best idea. A helpful update in the retail version is the inclusion of a zipper garage, closing the small gap left in the pre-production model. This pocket shares some space with the laptop compartment, so packing too much here might lead to a tighter fit.

Front Hidden Pocket

The front of the bag features a stealth pocket with a honeycomb-patterned liner that makes locating small items easier, thanks to its bright contrast. While it’s not padded, it’s perfect for essentials like a wallet, smartphone, or other quick-grab items. The pocket’s outward scooping design adds some volume, making it feel roomier than it looks.

Admin Panel

The admin panel is a standout feature that separates the Pro model from its predecessor. This section organizes smaller essentials with a mix of zippered mesh pockets and hidden slots. Here’s what it includes:

  • A small zippered mesh pocket for items like earbuds or a compact wallet.
  • A hidden zippered pocket with a dedicated AirTag slot—a secure spot for a tracker, though it’s slightly loose for an Apple AirTag.
  • Three HUB system loops, which allow you to attach modular accessories or hang your own gear, adding versatility without being overly proprietary.

What we love most is the HUB system’s new placement in the front compartment. Unlike the regular Elements Backpack, where HUB accessories clutter the main compartment, this setup keeps things tidy and accessible.

Main Compartment

The main compartment opens horseshoe-style, offering wide access to the bag’s interior. While the slim profile limits how much bulk you can carry, the space is ideal for everyday essentials. Inside, you’ll find:

  • Another set of HUB loops, which are more suited for backups than primary use due to their location.
  • A sleeve for documents or a tablet.
  • A padded laptop sleeve at the back, accommodating devices up to 16 inches. The false bottom protects against shocks, so you won’t cringe every time you set the bag down.

ALPAKA Elements Backpack Pro Review

Travel-Friendly Features

For frequent travelers like myself, the luggage passthrough makes airport navigation a breeze, allowing you to securely attach the backpack to your suitcase handle. The quick-access top pocket is perfect for stashing travel essentials like your passport or boarding pass, so you’re not rummaging around at security. And as I mentioned earlier, the AirTag pocket lets you track your bag effortlessly which is a huge plus.

Comfort and Fit

The Elements Backpack Pro stays true to ALPAKA’s hallmark slim profile. Despite the increase to 26L capacity, it doesn’t feel bulky or cumbersome. Its streamlined design hugs close to your back, creating a balanced carry that keeps you mobile, whether you’re navigating crowded streets or darting through airport terminals. This snug fit also means you probably won’t even need to use the included sternum strap—it carries comfortably straight out of the box.

The contoured back panel and padded shoulder straps do a lot of the heavy lifting when it comes to all-day wearability. Whether you’re taller, or more petite, the fit remains versatile and adjustable. The design accommodates different torso lengths without feeling awkward or oversized, which is a win for those of us who often struggle with one-size-fits-all bags.

While the Elements Backpack Pro excels in comfort and fit, its slim shape does come with a trade-off: it’s not ideal for bulky items. Large packing cubes or oversized gear can disrupt the bag’s sleek silhouette, making it feel slightly overloaded or unbalanced. If you do manage to cram everything in, you might notice some sagging as the weight distribution shifts away from the body.

That said, for everyday use—carrying a laptop, water bottle, and a few daily essentials—the fit is seamless. It’s clear that ALPAKA designed this pack for organization and comfort, with an emphasis on keeping things light and efficient.

Price

With an original price of $219, the ALPAKA Elements Backpack Pro definitely doesn’t fall into the “budget-friendly” category. However, when you factor in its eco-friendly materials, high-quality build, and performance, this price is pretty typical for sustainable brands that focus on durable, long-lasting products. As with most sustainable goods, you’re investing in a product designed to last, reducing the need for frequent replacements and ultimately minimizing waste over time. While it may not be the cheapest option out there, the price reflects the quality and the environmental impact, which is a tradeoff many eco-conscious buyers are willing to make.

Sustainability

By using recycled materials, ALPAKA reduces its reliance on virgin resources, contributing to a more sustainable production process. Axoflux fabric is also weatherproof, which increases the bag’s durability and lifespan, reducing the need for replacements. Additionally, the materials are produced to reduce waste and environmental impact.

For those opting for the X-Pac® version, the sustainability story continues. X-Pac® is made by Dimension-Polyant, a company that manufactures its fabric using 100% renewable-sourced electricity. The fabric is also climate-neutral, meaning the company offsets any carbon emissions associated with production through partnerships with organizations like Climate Partner and Plastic Free Oceans.

Pros and Cons of Alpaka Elements Backpack Pro

ALPAKA Elements Backpack Pro Review

Pros:

  • Sustainable Materials: The Elements Backpack Pro uses Axoflux recycled fabric (100% recycled polyester) for the exterior. The X-Pac® version is made from a climate-neutral fabric, produced in facilities powered by renewable energy and with carbon offsets.
  • Weatherproof Design: Both versions of the backpack are built to withstand the elements. The Axoflux fabric is weatherproof, and the X-Pac® fabric is not only waterproof but also durable, perfect for unpredictable weather.
  • Comfortable Fit:The backpack’s slim profile and padded shoulder straps, along with the contoured back panel, offer great comfort for all-day wear. The backpack sticks close to the body, making it easy to carry without feeling bulky.
  • Smart Organization: The Elements Backpack Pro has a well-thought-out internal and external organizational system.
  • HUB Accessory System: The inclusion of HUB loops gives users the flexibility to add modular accessories.
  • Versatility: The luggage passthrough, magnetic sternum strap, and AirTag pocket make the backpack a great choice for both everyday use and travel.

Cons:

  • Slim Profile May Limit Packing: While the slim design is great for comfort and style, it can be a challenge when trying to pack bulky items. Larger packing cubes, for instance, may distort the bag’s shape and affect how it carries.
  • Tight Front Pocket: While the front admin pocket is helpful, it’s a bit tight for larger items. It works well for essentials like a wallet and phone, but anything larger may feel a bit cramped.
  • Limited Access to Bottom Compartments: Because of the bag’s slim profile, accessing the lower portion of the main compartment can be tricky, especially when the front panel is folded down. This could make it harder to retrieve items from the bottom of the pack.

ALPAKA Elements Backpack Pro: Final Verdict

So, is it worth the investment? Yes! The Elements Backpack Pro nails compartmentalization, making it easy to stay organized whether you’re heading to work, school, or a short trip. The use of sustainable fabrics like Axoflux recycled polyester and X-Pac®, combined with practical features such as the padded laptop sleeve, quick-access pockets, and modular HUB system, make this backpack well-suited for everyday and city travel.

Its sleek, slim profile offers ample comfort and ease of carrying, even with a full load, while the thoughtful details—like the AirTag pocket and luggage passthrough—show ALPAKA’s commitment to making a product that fits seamlessly into the lives of modern travelers. The bag’s organization is also top-notch, with different compartments for easy access to essentials. That said, the slim design might feel restrictive for bulkier items, but for light-to-moderate packing, this bag’s interior is hard to beat.

While its price point may deter some, the ALPAKA backpack’s durability and sustainable design make it a worthwhile investment.

Full Body Reset with the CurrentBody Infrared PEMF Mat

by Lina Clémence June 14, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

This post is sponsored by CurrentBody

I first became curious about PEMF therapy after learning about the effects it can have on muscle recovery. While I am not an athlete of any kind, I do work a physical job on my feet.

As a 41 year old full time makeup artist, I stand for many hours at a time, often on hard floors, and by the end of a long day, as much as I love my job, my body hurts. As I look to the future, I hope to do this job for another 20 years if I can.

I have struggled with tendonitis in my right wrist and overall fatigue, feeling pretty wiped out after a large wedding party or a long 10 hour commercial shoot day.

As I often worry that my physical body won’t keep up as long as I want it to, I’ve started looking for ways to keep myself in the game, both mentally and physically.

I recently got to try out a PEMF mat thanks to CurrentBody, my go to source for any type of beauty device.

CurrentBody Wellness Infrared PEMF Mat

What is PEMF Therapy?

PEMF stands for pulsed electromagnetic field therapy. This is a non-invasive, FDA-approved treatment that uses pulses of electric current at a low frequency to energize the body’s cells.

The PEMF current can increase blood flow, increase oxygen delivery to cells, promote healing, reduce inflammation, relieve pain and can even assist with bone healing.

Simply put, these are like messages that tell your cells to do what they need to do.

PEMF therapy has been used both in humans and animals, particularly horses.

Alternating rows of amethyst and obsidian stones

CurrentBody Infrared PEMF Mat

The CurrentBody Wellness Infrared PEMF Mat contains 6 electromagnetic coils that deliver 9 PEMF intensity levels, 1-30 Hz, plus infrared heat 95-167˚F.

It also contains thousands of Amethyst and Obsidian stones to help with relaxation, circulation and heat retention.

PEMF Levels

Level 1-3: Relaxation, stress relief, and improving sleep.
Level 4-6: Muscle recovery, improved circulation, and mild pain relief.
Level 7-9: Deep tissue healing, joint pain relief, reduces inflammation.

PEMF Therapy Safety

While safe for most people, there are some individuals who should not partake in PEMF.

Do not use a PEMF mat if you:

  • Have a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device
  • Are pregnant
  • Have cancer
  • Suffer from epilepsy

How to Use the PEMF Mat

Unfold your mat where you plan to use it. It’s very heavy so you’ll want to make sure you have enough room before spreading it out.

Select your desired time (shown in hours), heat level shown in celsius and PEMF setting, ranging from 1-9.

Lay down, close your eyes and relax. You might choose to meditate or even fall asleep. I almost always end up falling asleep, even if I don’t plan to.

Of course you might prefer to do some reading, watch a show or scroll on your phone.

When you are done, wait until your mat is cooled down then fold it up.

My PEMF Mat Experience

I’ve been trying out this mat for the last 3 weeks, using it on a near daily basis. Here’s what I’ve noticed from my experience.

I’ve mostly been using it after work, using my time on the PEMF mat to reset and recharge before dinner. I’ve been using the mat on settings 1 through 5 as I don’t currently need any extreme muscle repair.

On levels 1 through 3, I experienced the refreshing effects of a long nap in a much shorter time.

I’m not super proud to admit it, but I used to be a daily napper, and my naps were almost always 2 hours. After about 45 minutes of snoozing on the PEMF mat, I felt just as refreshed as I would from a nap, without the confusion or grogginess.

This is helping me save time, obviously, but also just feeling more reset and truly refreshed. Instead of feeling slow and out of it, I feel ready to take on a few additional hours of work or enjoyment.

I feel warmth and relaxation while using it and haven’t experienced any tingling, dizziness or pain of any kind.

PEMF Mat Tips

Likely due to the amount of crystals and stones embedded into the mat, the CurrentBody Wellness Infrared PEMF Mat is quite heavy. For this reason, and to protect your back, I recommend storing somewhere low, like under a bed, so you can just slide it out when you’re ready to use it.

I suggest storing it in the room you’re most likely to use it. For some, that may be your bedroom, for others, perhaps a home gym for post workout recovery.

Because of the trifold nature of the mat, you can fold it into a seated position and still get the benefits while sitting upright. This could be nice for more active relaxation like watching a show or reading a book.

For even more active PEMF therapy, you can do yoga poses or stretches while on your mat.

A small pillow is nice if you plan on taking a PEMF nap. There’s room for it at the top of the mat where the logo is, without covering any of the mat’s main area.

Practice the concept of “habit stacking” by doubling up on your device. I often start out my PEMF mat therapy wearing my CurrentBody LED Light Therapy Face Mask.

Habit stacking with my CurrentBody LED Light Therapy Face Mask

Will I Continue PEMF Mat Therapy?

Being that I am only beginning my prime wedding season as a makeup artist, you bet I will. I have a feeling I’m going to be looking extra forward to my PEMF naps after every Saturday wedding.

Those types of jobs require me to get up super early, talk the entire time and be high energy for 4-6 hours at a time. The older I get, the more it wipes me out and now I have a tool to help combat it.

CurrentBody Discount Code

If you feel like you could also benefit from a PEMF mat, CurrentBody has given us a generous discount. Use code IVYPEMF to save $120 off.

What To Wear At Roland Garros 2025? Full guide!

by Lina Clémence May 31, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Reading Time: 10 minutes

(Version française ici)

Roland Garros, inaugurated in 1891, embodies a distinctly Parisian elegance. It transcends its identity as merely a tennis tournament to become a cultural phenomenon. Named after the pioneering aviator Roland Garros, this prestigious Grand Slam tournament, held each spring on the red clay courts of Paris, has always intertwined athletic prowess with refined style. Over the decades, Roland Garros has cultivated an aura of sophistication unlike any other sporting event, transforming the stands and the terraces into vibrant showcases of timeless fashion, understated luxury, and graceful charm.

What sets Roland Garros apart from Wimbledon’s crisp formality or the vibrant flamboyance of the US Open is its unique, effortless chic, embodied in a certain je ne sais quoi. It is here, amidst the lush greenery and burnt-orange clay, that one can witness the seamless marriage of casual elegance with Parisian refinement. Celebrities, royals, and fashion connoisseurs attend the tournament not merely to watch tennis but to participate in an exquisite sartorial dialogue, setting subtle trends that echo far beyond the courts of Porte d’Auteuil.

This article explores precisely what it means to dress for Roland Garros chicly, ideally suited to the event’s sophisticated ambience. We delve into how women can effortlessly embody Parisian elegance through thoughtfully chosen dresses and sophisticated separates, complemented by refined accessories. Equally, we uncover the art of bright casual dressing for men, highlighting tailored yet comfortable choices that reflect modern refinement. Further, we illuminate how the distinctive Roland Garros colour palette can inspire subtle style choices, blending harmoniously with the tournament’s aesthetic heritage.

Embracing the Roland Garros Palette

Roland Garros is more than a premier tennis tournament; it celebrates Parisian elegance and style. The tournament’s signature terracotta clay courts inspire a distinctive colour palette that resonates throughout the event, influencing fashion choices and setting a tone of understated sophistication.

The earthy tones of rust, ochre, and terracotta reflect the clay courts and evoke a sense of warmth and natural beauty. Incorporating these hues into one’s attire pays homage to the tournament’s heritage and aligns with the aesthetic sensibilities of the Parisian spring. Designers and brands have embraced this palette, creating collections that mirror the tournament’s ambience. For instance, Christofle’s special edition of its iconic “Mood” dining collection, inspired by the clay courts, showcases the versatility and appeal of terracotta tones in luxury design.

Attendees can subtly integrate these colours into their outfits through accessories such as scarves, ties, handbags, or footwear. A silk scarf in a muted ochre, a pair of suede loafers in rust, or a leather belt in terracotta can add a touch of Roland Garros charm to any ensemble. For those seeking a bolder statement, garments in these hues—like a tailored blazer in burnt sienna or a flowing dress in soft clay—can capture the essence of the tournament while maintaining an air of elegance. Pairing these pieces with neutral tones ensures a balanced and refined look.

Ultimately, embracing the Roland Garros palette is more than colour coordination; it’s about connecting with the event’s spirit and expressing a timeless style that resonates with the tournament’s legacy.

Understanding the Dress Code

While Roland Garros does not enforce a strict dress code for spectators, there is an unspoken expectation of elegance, especially in VIP and hospitality areas. The general guideline leans towards smart casual attire, blending comfort with sophistication. For men, this typically includes blazers, dress shirts, or elegant polos paired with smart trousers or dark jeans. Footwear should be polished—think leather loafers or brogues—and accessories like watches or pocket squares can add a refined touch.

Women often opt for chic dresses, stylish pantsuits, or skirts with elegant tops. Comfortable yet fashionable footwear is essential, as the tournament involves considerable walking. Accessories such as understated jewellery, scarves, and handbags complete the ensemble. It’s essential to consider the unpredictable Parisian spring weather. Layering is advisable; a lightweight jacket or cardigan can provide warmth during cooler moments, while sunglasses and hats offer protection on sunnier days.

In VIP areas, the expectation for attire is elevated. Guests are encouraged to dress to reflect the event’s prestige. For men, this might mean a tailored suit or a blazer with dress trousers, while women might choose a cocktail dress or an elegant ensemble suitable for a formal occasion.

Ultimately, dressing for Roland Garros is about balancing style and comfort, ensuring that one’s attire is appropriate for the sporting event and its social atmosphere.

Roland-Garros-style

Fashion tips for women: A Chic Roland Garros

At Roland Garros, fashion and tennis have long shared the spotlight, creating a unique cultural tapestry that blends athleticism with elegance. As we approach the 2025 tournament, this tradition continues, with women’s fashion reflecting both historical influences and contemporary trends.

The Quintessential Dress: A Timeless Choice

Dresses have always been a staple at Roland Garros, offering a blend of comfort and sophistication suitable for the Parisian spring. In 2025, the midi-length dress remains popular, crafted from breathable fabrics like linen or cotton. Soft hues—ivory, blush, pastel blue—complement the terracotta backdrop of the courts. Designers like Chloé and Gabriela Hearst continue offering pieces that marry comfort with understated luxury.

The drop-waist dress, a trend gaining momentum in 2025, offers a modern twist on classic silhouettes. Its elongating effect and relaxed fit make it ideal for Roland Garros’s casual elegance. Pairing such dresses with minimalist accessories ensures a contemporary and timeless look.

Sophisticated Separates: Versatility Meets Elegance

For those seeking versatility, separates allow mixing and matching while maintaining a polished appearance. A tailored blouse paired with high-waisted trousers or a flowing skirt offers comfort and style. Lightweight blazers in neutral tones can add a polished touch, especially for cooler mornings or shaded seating areas.

The resurgence of capri pants, inspired by early 2000s fashion, has found its way into 2025’s trends. Modern interpretations feature tailored cuts and high-quality fabrics, offering a chic alternative to traditional trousers. Celebrities like Halle Berry have embraced this trend, showcasing its adaptability and elegance.

Accessories: The Finishing Touch

Accessories play a crucial role in completing the Roland Garros ensemble. A wide-brimmed straw hat provides sun protection and adds a chic flair. Complement with understated jewellery—perhaps pearl studs or a delicate bracelet—and a structured leather tote to carry essentials.

Sunglasses with subtle frames and neutral tones offer both function and fashion. Footwear should balance style and comfort; espadrilles or low-heeled sandals in complementary shades are ideal.

Embracing the Roland Garros Palette

The tournament’s iconic clay courts inspire a palette of earthy tones—rust, ochre, and terracotta. Subtly incorporating these colours, perhaps through accessories or accent pieces, pays homage to the event’s heritage. Designers have embraced these hues in their 2025 collections, offering a range of options that align with the tournament’s aesthetic.

Sky blue, identified as a defining shade for summer 2025, has also made its mark at Roland Garros. Eva Longoria’s appearance in a sky-blue satin dress at a recent event highlights the colour’s versatility and elegance. Incorporating this hue into one’s Roland Garros attire can add a refreshing contrast to the venue’s earthy tones.

Attending Roland Garros is an opportunity to engage with a tradition that celebrates athletic excellence and sartorial elegance. By embracing refined, comfortable attire that reflects the event’s unique ambience, women can honour the tournament’s spirit while expressing their style. Whether through timeless dresses, sophisticated separates, or thoughtfully chosen accessories, the key lies in balancing elegance and ease.

Fashion Tips for Men: A successful Roland Garros

At Roland Garros, men’s fashion is a harmonious blend of tradition and contemporary style. The tournament’s unique ambience calls for attire that reflects the sophistication of Parisian culture and the relaxed elegance suitable for a day at the tennis courts.

The Quintessential Ensemble: Embracing Timeless Sophistication

A well-tailored blazer paired with lightweight trousers forms the cornerstone of Roland Garros’s men’s wardrobe. Opt for breathable fabrics like linen or cotton to ensure comfort during the warm Parisian spring. Neutral beige, light grey, or navy tones offer versatility and align with the event’s understated elegance.

Underneath the blazer, a crisp white shirt or a fine-knit polo adds a touch of refinement. Brands such as Brunello Cucinelli and Hermès exemplify this aesthetic, offering pieces that marry classic tailoring with modern sensibilities.

Sophisticated Separates: Versatility Meets Elegance

Consider pairing a tailored shirt with chinos or well-fitted jeans for a more relaxed yet polished look. Lightweight sweaters or cardigans in complementary shades can add depth to the ensemble, especially during more incredible moments. This approach allows for adaptability while maintaining a cohesive and stylish appearance.

Accessories: The Finishing Touch

Accessories play a crucial role in elevating the Roland Garros attire. A classic Panama hat provides sun protection and adds a distinguished flair. In neutral tones, leather loafers or suede brogues ensure comfort while navigating the stadium. A minimalist watch and quality sunglasses complete the look, offering function and fashion.

Embracing the Roland Garros Palette

The tournament’s iconic clay courts inspire a palette of earthy tones—rust, ochre, and terracotta. Whether through timeless ensembles, sophisticated separates, or thoughtfully chosen accessories, the key lies in balancing elegance and ease.

To Conclude,

Roland Garros is where tennis meets theatre, where the soft grind of sneakers on clay is rivalled only by the quiet rustle of linen, silk, and cotton in the Parisian breeze. It is a place where elegance is never shouted but whispered—expressed in a tilt of a Panama hat, the sway of a perfectly cut midi dress, or the relaxed roll of linen sleeves as glasses of rosé clink under the soft Parisian light.

To dress for Roland Garros is to understand that style here is more than an outfit; it’s an attitude. It is the art of knowing how to stand out without showing off and be seen without screaming to be noticed. It is about honouring a century-old tradition of elegance, while writing your chapter on the terraces of Court Philippe-Chatrier.

So, whether you lean into clay-hued accents, master the subtle codes of smart casual, or carry yourself with that unmistakable je ne sais quoi, remember this: at Roland Garros, fashion doesn’t serve the game — it plays it beautifully.

Coming Full Circle in Haridwar: From Childhood Memories to Thrilling New Discoveries – Cherry on Top

by Lina Clémence May 31, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

As a child, I remember clutching my mother’s hand tightly while walking barefoot along the ghats of Haridwar. The scent of incense, the rhythmic chants, the hypnotic flicker of oil lamps during the Ganga Aarti — these memories are etched in my heart like sacred verses. Back then, Haridwar was, to my little mind, a city of prayer, ritual, and devotion. We’d visit Mansa Devi by ropeway, take a dip in the chilly waters at Har Ki Pauri, and return to our hotel wrapped in the calm that only a spiritual town could offer.

Fast forward to the present — decades later — I found myself back in Haridwar, only this time with a backpack and a soul full of adventures. And what greeted me wasn’t just nostalgia. It was awe.

Haridwar has changed. Or perhaps, evolved is the better word.

Yes, the spirit of the city is still deeply spiritual. Har Ki Pauri still draws thousands of devotees every evening, and the Ganga Aarti remains as magical and soul-stirring as I remembered it. The temples of Chandi Devi and Mansa Devi still stand proud on their respective hills, welcoming seekers with the same grace and energy.

But in between those ancient rhythms, a new beat has emerged — the pulse of adventure, exploration, and youthful vibrancy.

Haridwar’s Surprising Adventure Side

I never imagined I’d associate Haridwar with adrenaline. And yet, there I was, strapping on a helmet and life jacket, ready to raft down the very river I once offered my diyas.

River rafting on the Ganges in Haridwar is, quite honestly, surreal. It’s like playing on a divine playground. The rapids are thrilling, the scenery is heart-stoppingly beautiful, and the experience — pure joy. There’s something poetic about being carried by the same river that carries centuries of prayers.

And this wasn’t even the only surprise.

Haridwar now has paramotoring! I didn’t try it on this trip (next time, for sure!), but seeing the parachutes gliding against the sky as the Ganga shimmered below was a visual I won’t soon forget. Add to that the Rajaji National Park nearby, offering safaris and a peek into Uttarakhand’s wild side, and suddenly Haridwar isn’t just a destination for pilgrims — it’s a playground for all kinds of travellers.

Rediscovering Stillness at Pebbles by the Ganges

On this trip, I stayed at a peaceful riverside homestay stay called Pebbles By the Ganges. The name is poetic, yes, but the setting is even more so. Just steps away from the river, the property gave me the quiet mornings I love and the thrill of adventure just when I needed it. It’s one of those rare places where you can do Ganga Aarti at sunrise and go rafting in the afternoon.

The property has just eight rooms, so it never feels crowded or commercial. My room had a warm, cozy feel — think local textures, modern comforts, and the soft lull of the Ganges in the background. But what made Pebbles By The Ganges stand out wasn’t just the ambiance — it was the access.

They’re partnered with Himalayan Flyers for paramotoring (yes, those gorgeous parachutes I saw!) and offer river rafting right from their property. Imagine walking out of your room, grabbing a paddle, and being in the rapids within minutes — that’s exactly what I did. I never thought I’d say this, but Haridwar gave me my first rafting experience, and it was nothing short of magical.

It also helped that the property is just a short drive from Har Ki Pauri and the main temples. So I didn’t have to miss out on the spiritual side of Haridwar either. One morning, I hiked up to Chandi Devi, another evening I lit a diya at the ghat. But in between those quiet, soulful moments, I was laughing mid-rapids and sipping chai by the river, completely at peace.

A City That Now Has It All

What struck me most on this trip was how beautifully Haridwar balances both its worlds. You can come here to reconnect with your spiritual roots, and you can also come here to feel alive in the wildest, most adventurous ways. Families, solo travelers, yoga seekers, wildlife enthusiasts — Haridwar now welcomes them all.

It’s no longer a “temple town” — it’s a dynamic, multifaceted destination.

As a travel blogger who thrives on discovering places that blend culture with experience, I can’t recommend Haridwar enough. Come for the temples, stay for the thrill. Or come for the thrill and let the calmness of the Ganga surprise you.

Just don’t forget to pack an open heart — and maybe, a waterproof camera.

Because this isn’t just the Haridwar of my childhood anymore.

It’s something better.

Get Ready With Me (Again) – A Full Makeup Tutorial! – All Things Aesthetic

by Lina Clémence May 29, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Hi everyone, and welcome to this week’s blog! And what a rubbish week we are having with the weather, although I’m not sure what I prefer; is it better for the weather to be bad when we are stuck indoors anyway, or is the sunshine uplifting in difficult times? I think my mixed views display how neither situation is exactly ideal, however there are things we can do to try and make how we are feeling slightly better. At the moment, I am loving having a daily pamper, reading more books, watching rubbish on Netflix, going on walks, and doing home workouts. I’ve also decided to do my makeup a couple of times a week to keep me feeling human, which you will know if you read my post a couple of weeks ago on my BeautyBay haul! I’ve not actually done a full makeup tutorial for you guys since December though (check it out here), and some products I use have changed since then, so why not do a big makeup post?! Here is a nice little before picture if you guys need a laugh (I know I do)!

I’ve just noticed I am so pale I would probably disappear into my wall if it was white…

Aaaaand here is a meme to summarise how I am feeling about the above picture…

Wow, I also LOVE the caption of this pin haha! Well, at least I am funny sometimes I hope…Anyway, time to stop rambling. Here’s the tutorial!

Step 1 – Prime

So this is a pretty easy step, although for some reason I didn’t actually take a before and after picture. Here is the order in which I apply the products:
1) Dr Everyouth Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid Day Moisturiser – £13.99 on gogroupie.
2) The Ordinary High Adherence Silicone Primer – £3.95 from BeautyBay.
3) RCMA No-Color Powder – £11.75 from BeautyBay.
4) Morphe Continuous Setting Mist – £16 from Cult Beauty.

So, I am absolutely IN LOVE with this prime routine. I’ve always moisturised and then applied primer, but I would highly recommend setting your primer with a translucent powder and setting spray – you will notice a huge difference when it comes to the durability of your makeup and it goes on soooo much better.

Step 2 – Brows

The products used here are my all time faves:
1) Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in shade Soft Brown – £19 from Cult Beauty.
2) ZOEVA Graphic Brow Fix in shade Ammos – £9 from Beauty Bay.
3) Morphe Liquid Full Coverage Concealer in shade C1.35 – £10 from Cult Beauty

  • STEP 1 – Use a flat angled brush to apply the dipbrow pomade.
  • STEP 2 – Brush on the brow gel in fine strokes.
  • STEP 3 – Apply concealer around the brow and brush down onto the lid to act as a primer.

As my hair is blonde (despite the awful roots I have right now due to being unable to visit a hairdressers) I don’t go too dark with my brows. However, more shades are available in the products I recommend depending on what kind of colour you go for. While £19 is a bit expensive for a brow gel (I may have cried at the time of purchasing), it has lasted for 2 years and I am still no where close to finishing so I think we can view this as an investment.

Step 3 – Eyes

Right, I had to improvise pretty hard here as I don’t have a lot of makeup with me. As mentioned above, I used concealer to prime my lids, and then I used a bronzer and highlighter to create a natural bronze look which I love for the daytime. Here are the products:
1) Doll Beauty Gimme Sun Matte Bronzer in shade Medium – £15 from BeautyBay.
2) MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter in shade Golden Scintillation – £2.99 from Luxplus.
3) Unicorn Cosmetics Lashes in style Peachy Pie – £10 from BeautyBay.

  • STEP 1 – Use a fluffy brush to buff the bronzer across your lid.
  • STEP 3 – Gently press the highlighter into the mid-to-corner of the lid.
  • STEP 4 – Once the lash glue is tacky, apply and hold for 20 seconds to ensure it stays on.

Now, this is definitely not the most dramatic eyeshadow look I’ve done but this is my go to for a more natural, glowy, daytime look, and I often use highlighters and bronzers as eyeshadows too which makes them an even better investment. While the lashes are £10, they are reusable which means that these are also an investment and they work out cheaper than less expensive lash brands as they last longer.

Step 4 – Base

Here we have two of my favourite ever makeup products for base makeup, and I would highly recommend you purchase ASAP! I’ve tried a lot of brands, but I’ve never found a foundation or concealer as enduring as these two. The products are:
1) EX1 Cosmetics Invisiwear Liquid Foundation in shade 3.5 – £12.50 from BeautyBay.
2) Maybelline Instant Anti-Age Multi-Use Concealer in shade Neutraliser – £8.99 from Superdrug.

  • STEP 1 – Apply the foundation using a flat topped foundation brush (I would say BH Cosmetics are the best).
  • STEP 2 – Apply concealer under the eyes, the forehead, the nose and chin.
  • STEP 3 – Use a small contour brush to blend.

These are really great products which are priced well too! My foundation is a little too dark for me right now though, but that’s purely because I am not fake tanning at the moment! If you want to find the perfect shade in the foundation/concealer, take a look on Findation to get your match based on the shades you use in your current products.

Step 5 – Contour

Time to sculpt my face into something slightly more appealing. Some of the products here can definitely be replaced with cheaper alternatives, but again, I’m limited with the products I have to hand. Products used here are:
1) Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder – £32 from Look Fantastic. A cheaper alternative which is *almost* as good is Morphe’s Bake and Set Powder in shade Banana for £12 from Cult Beauty.
2) EX1 Invisiwear Compact Powder in shade 11 – £11.50 from BeautyBay.
3) Mac Studiofix Powder Plus Foundation in shade C35 – £27 from MAC. However, you can get much cheaper pressed powders which do the job – EX1 do many shades on BeautyBay, and you can buy the Revolution Pressed Powder for £2 from Superdrug.

  • STEP 1 – Use a beauty blender to apply the baking powder under the eyes, the nose, forehead and cheeks.
  • STEP 2 – Use a sculpting brush to apply bronzer to the cheeks, sides of the nose (can use a finer brush for that step) and forehead.
  • STEP 3 – Gently press a flat foundation brush into pressed powder and dust off the translucent powder.

As you can see, I am starting to look slightly more human now! Contouring can be quite tricky, so I am fairly basic with my method so as not to overdo it. That being said, I’m happy with the result!

Step 6 – Highlight

As you can see, I sat on this palette and smashed the mirror…

This product is my new favourite highlighter! The BeautyBay Brilliance Bouncy Beam palette is £12 from BeautyBay. I used ‘Radiant’ for contouring the corners of my cheeks, ‘Strobe’ for the corner of my eyes and under my brows and a mix of ‘Charmed’ and ‘Shine Bright’ for contouring my nose, cheekbones and upper lip. Here’s the result! I apply setting spray to my brush before application for the best results.

Step 7 – Lips

Right, I am sure if you’re a regular here you will know that I just ADORE a nude lip! I know I need to branch out, and I will try to do so, but as this is a daytime look I had to go for a natural nude colour. The products used were:
1) Milani Colour Statement Lipliner in shade Nude – £6.50 from BeautyBay.
2) Doll Beauty Lipstick in shade Golden Girl – £13 from BeautyBay.
3) Doll Beauty Lipgloss in shade #Gobby – £13 from BeautyBay.

  • STEP 1 – Apply the lipliner around the lip and blend inwards towards the center of the lip.
  • STEP 2 – Apply the lipstick and blot with tissue.
  • STEP 3 – Run a thin layer of lipgloss across the top.

I absolutely love these colours together as they create a really cute pinky nude that’s both glossy and natural! The lipstick is also nice and creamy which I like, as matte lipsticks can really dry my lips out. The durability of the lipliner is fabulous too, and I love the pinker tone of the gloss – the perfect nude!

Now to set again with setting spray and I am FINISHED! Here is the end result!

  • BEFORE
  • AFTER
I am pretty impressed with this glow up!

Doing my makeup, taking some selfies and going on nice long walk really calmed me down the other day when I was having a bit of a meltdown, and I would strongly advise you all to find something which has the same effect as it genuinely works. Here are some cute pictures I took on my walk…

PHEW – that’s the longest post I’ve done in a while, but I really enjoyed it and I hope some of like the products I have recommended. In the meantime, remember to contact me and/or leave a comment with any anxieties/recommendations or even if you just fancy a chat – my ears are open. Wishing you all a wonderful week!

Stay safe xxxx
