I took Friday off this week as my “Memorial Day” since Monday is my usual day off.
Daniel and I decided to head a bit further out of town into hill country to take advantage of a matinee screening of Friendship. The movie was good, but so incredibly weird. There were only 3 of us in the theater, which was luxurious.
I was also thrilled they let me get the tiny little kid pack of popcorn and a 10 ounce Coke. I don’t really drink soda, but I am nostalgic about getting popcorn and Coke at the dollar theatre as a kid.
Afterward, we grabbed a late lunch at a nearby pizza place (it was no New Haven pizza, but was perfectly serviceable). Then we poked around the usual places: bookstores, toy sections of chains (Daniel’s thing), and a Goodwill (my thing).
I bought these jeans from H&M in the middle of the pandemic. At the time, baggy and wide leg jeans were an anomoly and no one could predict they would become *the* jeans of the decade. These jeans have been a favorite for over 4 years, which is an ok track record for what may have read as a trend item when I bought them.
These are definitely not the fit teens and 20-somethings are wearing. They’re high waist and a bit cropped. But with Adidas sneakers, I felt like I was dressing younger than usual. It was a comfortable outfit for movie viewing, which was the goal. I’ll never be able to give up a high waist and a slight crop. Old habits die hard, and there are sensory reasons I prefer this fit.
Here’s what I’m wearing, or close approximations:
