5 Products I’m Testing At The Moment & Loving

by Lina Clémence June 6, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

These products were sent to me complimentary from Influenster

I went from being the person who knew their skin and what worked for it. To become all confused because it changes every day. I guess you can say I’m on a long road to finding my holy grail products again. But I’m a trooper who has an open mind and testing new products is something I enjoy. I know the dermatologist out there are probably cringing right now but let’s talk about these 5 products I’m testing at the moment and loving.
(to be completely transparent, I have been testing these products for over two months)

Garnier Smoothing Milk Wash in Hyalu-Melon- I was thinking back to all of the face washes I tried/tested in my life and I have never used something like this before. It’s very different in a really good way. Right out the bottle, it’s the look and consistency as any other face wash. Once you add water to it and apply it to your face, that’s when the magic happens. It smells so good and feels baby soft and gentle. It’s a little hard to explain, it’s really something that I suggest testing out. I could possibly be a little late to the milk wash game (I know in Asian beauty they have a lot of milk products.) I just really want to test more from this line or something like it because I am really in love. I do use this product mainly in the mornings if you were wondering.

Garnier Replumping Serum Cream in Hyalu- Melon-  This product goes with the first product I mentioned. I basically refer to it as the little big sister. Only because they go together like peanut butter and jelly. I have tested using using other serum and creams after washing my face with the milk wash and nothing works as good as this product. A little bit goes a really long way. It will fill a little thick at first but when you rub it in smothes out really nicely and leaves a really smooth soft finish.
ChapStick Total Hydration in Peachy Keen- I was very skeptical about this product at first. Chapstick is a very well known classic brand and that wasn’t the problem. It’s just usually when I use balms that have a tent it tends to not show in the color it’s supposed to be in or t shows it in a color that looks completely horrible on my pigmented lips. Today I’m here to let you know that I didn’t have these problems at all with this product or shade. It looks incredible on my lips and iv been wearing it on days where I don’t want to go on full lipstick. There is SPF in this product and it is moisturizing but the one negative thing is after a while you will notice it clumping up on your lips. At that point, I wipe it off and then re-apply it. It could also be that my lips are really dry and that’s causing it to happen but for the high price of $7USD I don’t want any problems. but I still love the product.
Bliss Clear Genius Clarifying Toner + Serum- Completly love the texture and bottle design of this product. For a toner and serum in one, the way that this bottle works is pure genius! All the other ways we have been applying our toner and serums is just really messy and we have learned to just deal with it. Once you start to use this product, you will the have a life changing moment and want all of your products in a bottle like this. I do use this product at night if I’m not using the next product I’m about to mention.
BareMinerals Skinlongevity Long Life Herb Serum- For the longest time I couldn’t figure ou how to take off the cap. It looks like it twist up but really you just pull it off. Out of all the products I mentioned today, this is the one that I fill is doing to most to better my skin and make it look tired. The only thing is I feel like I need the whole line (if there even is one) basically a matching face wash and moisturizer. I feel like if I had those, this could be my holy grail face cleaning products. I cant tell you how much healthier and younger my skin looks after applying this. It also smooths it an I don’t get that oily look throughout the day. It is on the pricy side but I’m telling you its worth it.

5 Things I am Loving Right Now – Winter 2025

by Lina Clémence May 31, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

I never got around to doing a 2024 favourite things roundup, and now that winter is over, I feel like I should share one. The problem is that I haven’t been feeling motivated to write lately. I’m exhausted all the time, and with the little energy I have, I haven’t been able to be creative. On top of that, my skin is a real mess, so I’m not enjoying makeup or skincare right now, which is disappointing. This post should be an easy way to help me get back into the writing flow… hopefully.

1. Neutrogena Transparent Bar

I started using this for my new Vintage Vanity series, and I fell in love. It is a great, simple bar that gets the job done. You can read about its history and how I really enjoyed it here.

2. Belif Aqua Bomb PHA Exfoliating Toner Pads

Belif’s Aqua Bomb line is one of my favourite skincare lines. These pads are pretty self-explanatory; they are toner with PHA in a pad format.

I have a lot of acne popping up along my hairline and dry, flakey skin on my cheeks. These pads have been great for light exfoliation in those areas without irritating anything. The other toner ingredients are super hydrating.

3. Aquaphor Healing Balm Stick

This an absolutely massive stick of Aquphor, with 30% petroleum in it. Because it is a stick, it has different ingredients than the regular Aquaphor, such as avocado oil and wax. I fell in love with this stick because, for the last year, I have had peeling lips. It didn’t matter how often I applied balms to my lips; they were terrible. This cleared it up in a week.  I also use it on my cuticles and dry elbows as well as on top of my skincare for slugging when dog walking in the winter weather.

I do not believe it is sold in Canada. I had to get it in the USA. The exact same stick is also sold under their Baby Care banner.

4. Hypochlorous Acid

I think we all know how effective Tower 28’s SOS Spray is at eliminating unwanted skin issues while still being gentle on the skin. However, I’ve found a similar product that costs significantly less: Microcyn Skin Spray for pets. It’s priced at $29.99 for 240 ml and works just as well.

I used this spray at my previous job whenever a pet had issues like scratching their ears, developing hot spots, or any other irritated skin problems. I even started using it on myself for scratches and bruises, and it worked wonders. When Tower 28 gained popularity for its product, I felt vindicated, knowing that others finally recognized its effectiveness.

I picked up my bottle a few months ago when my dog, Bradley, was chewing on himself to calm and heal his skin. I recently used it on Sterling after he scratched his ear non-stop, making it red and scabby. After applying the spray the next day, everything looked much calmer. I mean, the fact it saved me a visit to the vet alone makes it worthy of a favourite spot.

Now, it’s become my favourite, not just for my pets but also because I’ve been struggling with acne that I can’t control. I started using the spray on my own skin whenever a pimple began to surface, and I noticed that it helped clear them up faster than when I didn’t use it.

5. Vitabath Original Spring Green Bath Gelee

Thinking of a number 5 was really hard. I spend a lot of time in the bath, so I went to have one and it came to me, Vitabath. I used up a small bottle in January and am now working on a bottle double the size. You need so little of it for a ton of bubbles and scent that will fill your whole floor.

They make any scents, but the green is the original and smells the best to me.

So there you go, five things I have loved this winter season. Now, let us hope the weather gets better, and I can spend some more time outside with less dry skin.

Skincare products I am testing and loving so far

by Lina Clémence May 29, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Sure, so we’re only a couple of weeks into 2024 but I am loving taking some time to sit and type and decided that sharing a few ‘in progress’ reviews was what I felt like doing today. I say in-progress because the products I want to share here are a mixture of new-ish to me products, so I would say I’ve been using them for 2-3 weeks ish on average. I like to really throughly try a product for a decent amount of time before sharing my thoughts so usually for a month plus but these are ones I just can’t wait to share my thoughts on so here goes.

Shiseido Waso Shikulime Gel-To-Oil Cleanser

To say I love the texture of this cleanser would be underplaying it. I absolutely adore it. I’ve always had a thing for an oil or balm cleanser, this is all the slippery goodness of an oil cleanser but less messy. As it starts out thicker then beautifully melts as you massage into skin it really is the cleanser that keeps on giving. Managing to be silky smooth and not remotely stripping. It does a great job at dissolving makeup but works well as a first or second cleanse step just as well. Or just stand alone if a single cleanse life is your thing.

This cleanser has earned itself a fast forward to top 5 list (along with the likes of the Elemis Cleansing Balm and Clarins Pure Melt) If you like that sort of melty oil-like goodness then this is one that you should add to your list. Trying more from Shiseido is definitely on my list for 2024.

No7 Future Renew Damage Reversal Eye Serum

I was lucky to be sent the Future Renew range back when it launched in 2023. However in chaos of moving house, I kept it in the box for months and only dug it out in December. But so far, loving the eye serum – it’s one of those lighter eye product textures that feels like a drink of water for the skin. I can’t confirm if it’s reversed any age related damage as such, but I can say it’s lovely and hydrating and leaves my notoriously dehydrated eye area moisturised but feeling fresh on each use – morning or evening (I’ve been using for both). So top marks from me on first few weeks of use, I will give one of the face creams a whirl next once I’ve finished of my current in-use selection soon.

Skin Rocks Retinoid 1

I have to confess I’ve had this product in my possession for quite a few months before giving it a proper test after Caroline kindly offered to get her team to send for me to try. Why did I wait to try? Well, not to sound dramatic but I can be nervous of retinol products. Yes I know, I am skincare/beauty obsessed and can still be nervous of retinol products. It’s the talk of retinol damaging skin barriers, flaking and purging. Having used the full on tret level skincare I can vouch for both the great results AND the skin reactions that can occur. I stand by the fact with the tret I have always done all the carefully-carefully steps but there’s still a concentration level that seems to trigger a dry/flaking upper lip line. Always specifically that area. I can’t fully explain it but I don;t love it. I do however, absolutely love the glow and smoothness that retinol products can give. So I persevere.

So what is all that waffle about? Let’s get back to what I’ve liked about Skin Rocks Retinoid 1 – I like that it’s gentle, it really is the ideal intro to a retinol routine if you’re either new to it, sensitive skinned or perhaps returning to use post pregnancy etc. (This was me when I first got started dipping my toe into the retinol world again). I have not yet had a single issue with this, it applies and absorbs like a dream and my skin is very happy using it. Do I see the same level of results as with tretinoin? No, but that’s as I would expect – it’s the level one, a different ingredient (Retinoid vs tretinoin, in very very basic terms, same family – different ingredients and thus different result levels expected). This is really the ideal intro to a retinol whilst you build your tolerance, let your skin adapt as you use and take it from there.

So if you’re entry level retinol user, sensitive or just a little nervous about it like I mentioned – give the Skin Rocks Retinoid 1 a whirl.
