This post is long overdue but I can’t wait to share my thoughts and swatches of the NARS Afterglow Lipstick! If you’re a fan of a wearable every day formula, you are going to want this in your makeup routine. I’ve been obsessed with the high shine finish and how nourishing it feels on my lips. Read on for more photos and my thoughts!

Many of NARS new releases are in this pretty rose gold color instead of the classic rubber black finish. I love this modern take as it provides more of a feminine energy and makes it feel fun instead of professional. The tube of this lipstick is a bit different from traditional lipsticks as it’s much thinner. The tip is also slanted which I like as it provides a more precise application.
Everyone is sporting a shiny lip these days and you can get color, shine AND hydration with the NARS Afterglow Sensual Shine Lipstick. Each of these shades has a medium color payoff, a beautiful natural shine, and also hydration for your lips. There’s no stickiness at all and no scent so it’s a very comfortable wear. The formula also includes many nourishing and hydrating ingredients such as mango butter and shea butter!

Starting off with my favorite shade, NARS 888 Dolce Vita. This dusty rose is the perfect natural lip color for me. This formula glides right over the lips and I like keeping this shade in my purse for touch ups!
This shade looks similar to Dolce Vita in the tube but applies much more like a brown! I like wearing this more in the fall and winter. It’s interesting that even though it looks very similar to Dolce Vita in the photo, the color is so different when swatched or on the lips. This shade also glides nicely over my lips and provides a pretty shine.
Even though Orgasm is NAR’s iconic shade, I couldn’t get this to work on my lips. Light pink shades tend not to be flattering for me. For some reason, this shade also accentuates any dry flakes and really settles into my lip lines. The color looks gorgeous on the models though and maybe if your natural lip colors are lighter, it could be more suitable for you.

Malgré le fait que ma peau a tendance à briller rapidement, j’ai l’habitude d’éviter les fonds de teint mats dès que l’hiver approche car ma peau devient très déshydratée et sensible. Mais à ma grande surprise j’ai adoré celui-ci, car il n’accentue pas les petites peaux sèches et n’assèche pas ma peau! C’est un des rares fonds de teint mats que je peux utiliser en hiver.
Je ne suis pas certaine s’il sera assez matifiant pour ceux et celles qui préfèrent un fini complètement mat et qui ont une peau très grasse, car il n’est pas si matifiant que ça comparé aux autres fonds de teint mats que j’ai testé. Mais je l’ai beaucoup aimé pour mon type de peau (grasse à tendance acnéique et déshydratée)!
Lorsque je fixe ce produit avec un peu de poudre libre, il tient plus de 12 heures sur moi et le fini est semi-mat pendant environ 3 heures.
Je suggère tout de même de commencer avec une toute petite quantité, car je trouve que ce fond de teint est plus beau si j’applique seulement une fine couche de produit avec une éponge Beautyblender. Lorsque je l’applique de cette façon, j’obtiens une couvrance moyenne qui est modulable.
La couvrance est plus élevée si j’ajoute plus de produit, mais le rendu est un peu trop plâtreux à mon goût. Par contre, il n’est pas du tout lourd ou collant sur la peau!
Le fond de teint Soft Matte ne s’oxyde pas sur moi au courant de la journée, mais il devient plus foncé lorsque le produit sèche sur la peau! Donc je suggère fortement de l’essayer chez Sephora et de laisser le
produit sécher durant au moins 20 minutes pour voir la vrai couleur.
Aussi, je crois que ça vaut la peine de vous informer que les nuances du fond de teint Soft Matte ne sont pas identiques à celles du fond de teint Natural Radiant.
Montblanc est plus foncé que NW20 (mais plus clair que NW25) et le sous-ton est beige rosé.
Yukon est légèrement plus clair que NW25 et le sous-ton est rosé.
Vienna est un peu plus foncé que NC25 et le sous-ton est neutre.
Vallauris est légèrement plus foncé que NW35 et le sous-ton est rosé.
Stromboli est un peu plus clair que NC40 et le sous-ton est pêche doré.
Vanuatu est plus foncé que NW35 (mais plus clair que NW40) et le sous-ton est neutre, légèrement rosé.

NARS launched some newness in highlighter and lip gloss and I have a review today! The Light Reflecting Luminizing Powders ($42 each) are exclusive to Ulta Beauty and NARS. The new shades of the Afterglow Lip Shine Lip Gloss ($28 each) are available at all NARS retailers like Sephora, Nordstrom, Ulta Beauty and Bluemercury.
The Afterglow Lip Shine Lip Gloss* is one of the smoothest glosses I’ve tried and they added new shades which I think are beautiful. The shades run on the sheer side for a barely there kind of tint but they still show up on the lips. I prefer a little more pigment in my gloss but these wear very nicely and feel so smooth and hydrating I really don’t mind them being so sheer. (Other shades reviewed + swatched here.)
Wear time is pretty good if your lips don’t touch anything else. They aren’t the longest lasting though so you will have to reapply after a few hours. New colors are all 10/10 pretty. They are on the deeper side so if you prefer lighter shades these might be too dark for you.

NARS also recently launched a new addition to their Light Reflecting line with a Light Reflecting Luminizing Powder. These are high shine shimmers with a highly reflective finish. The pigment is easy to control but they do pull very metallic on the skin. The shimmer is a little chunky, but if you apply with a finger or dense brush it will smooth out. If you have texture or large pores you might want to pass as these will emphasize them.
I received Heavenly* at a NARS event in Miami (quick peek here in case you’re curious!) and I purchased the others from Ulta. I still think Heavenly is the best one, it’s a really stunning pink.
Since the shimmer and glistening effect is on the intense side I don’t know that I can wear these everyday. They do make for a really beautiful special glow, but I prefer the subtle glow of the newer Prada Highlighters. Also I know the Chanel spring highlighter quad is sold out, but I am still reaching for that one on a regular basis.
Looks wearing each highlighter with a different lip. For skintone reference I wear the NARS Light Reflecting Foundation in either Vanuatu or Barcelona right now and the Radiant Creamy Concealer in Ginger. (My lighter spring time foundation shade is Sahel).

Overall love the lip shines, I am really loving the Heavenly Highlighter. The other shades are stunning but I have some skin texture issues on my cheeks right now so I have to go easy on the highlighter.

Despite the fact that my skin is quite oily, I usually avoid matte foundations at this time of the year because my skin becomes very dehydrated and sensitive when the temperature drops. I like this foundation though, because it doesn’t accentuate dry patches and doesn’t feel like it sucks the life out of my skin!
I’m not sure if it would be matte enough for those of you who prefer a true matte finish and have very oily skin, as it doesn’t stay matte for a long period of time in comparison to other matte foundations I tried. But overall, I really liked this foundation for my skin type (oily, acne-prone and dehydrated)!
When I set it with a bit of loose powder, the Soft Matte foundation lasts more than 12 hours on me and has a semi-matte finish for about 3 hours.
One thing I would suggest though, is to start with less product than you think you need. I find that this foundation looks best if I apply a thin layer with a damp Beautyblender, which gives me medium coverage.
The coverage can be build up from medium to full, but it was a bit too cakey for my liking when I tried it this way. It doesn’t feel heavy or sticky though!
The Soft Matte Foundation doesn’t oxidize on me, but it dries much darker once on the skin. So I would highly recommend to try it in store first, and let the product dry for about 20 minutes to see the true color.
Also, please note that the shades in the Soft Matte Complete Foundation are not equivalent to the ones in the Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation.
