Don’t Shop at Quince Until You Read This Unsponsored Review

by Lina Clémence June 11, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Wondering if Quince is legit or worth it? I placed two orders with Quince over the past couple of years—here’s everything you need to know before buying.

From cashmere sweaters to linen pants, I’ve tested several pieces from Quince firsthand. Below, you’ll find quick takeaways, close-up photos of the materials, and a detailed Quince review including sizing, fabric care, quality, and my overall experience as a repeat customer.

  • Good value for the price
  • High-quality materials: cashmere, cotton poplin, linen
  • Cashmere shrinks in the wash – dry clean or hand-wash only
  • Classic, wearable silhouettes
  • Sizing can be inconsistent—consider sizing down
  • I would order again (and have!)

Shop Quince > if you’re ready to browse, or keep reading the full Quince clothing review if you want to learn more.

Quince Fabrics: What I Bought & How They Wore Over Time

I’ve purchased items for myself, my husband, and my son, including:

  • Poplin cotton skirt (thick and crisp)
  • Linen pants (breathable and lightweight)
  • Cashmere sweater (soft and luxe, but shrinks if washed!)
  • Athletic shorts + dry-fit tees (comfortable, moisture-wicking)
  • Cotton tank: not great, it didn’t retain its shape

The quality is pretty consistent across most categories—materials feel elevated and better than what you’d expect at this price point.

My lightweight cashmere sweater shrank nearly two sizes in the wash. It’s still wearable (and I still wear it weekly), but I recommend dry cleaning or gently hand washing cashmere pieces from Quince to avoid shrinkage and pilling.

The photos are pre-wash. You can see the knit is really lightweight with a fair amount of space between the stitching. After a wash, those airy spaces disappeared and my sweater is about two sizes smaller. Note to the wise, don’t machine wash the cashmere.

A closeup of Quince manufacturing: good quality for the price range, and the pieces look more expensive than they cost.

Aside from the fabrics, a closeup of the manufacturing looks clean–no loose threads or uneven stitching. Combined with the high quality materials, I consider Quince a good quality for the price range. I’ve purchased items that cost more, and have worse quality.

Styles notes: Quince styles are not super modern, but timeless and easy to style.

I wouldn’t consider Quince “on top” of the trends. They’re not a fast-fashion retailer. If you’re looking for in-the-moment fashion, check out this MANGO review for some unique fashion pieces, or shop your staples at Zara.

If you’re looking for trendy or fashion-forward styles, Quince might feel a little plain. But if you want quality basics that won’t go out of style, their pieces are easy to mix and match.

Fit & Sizing Guide: What to Know Before You Buy

Quince sizing can be hit-or-miss:

  • Poplin skirt (XS): fit loose—barely stays up, but I kept it
  • Cashmere sweater (M): fit perfectly until I machine-washed it
  • Tank tops: a bit loose and didn’t retain shape
  • Linen pants: good fit, size down if between sizes

Tip: Try a size smaller than your usual, especially for bottoms and tops with stretch.

Would I buy Quince again? Absolutely.

Quince is on my quick-grab rack, I wear the pieces (even the shrunken cashmere sweater) on the weekly. Despite the minor issues (like cashmere care and sizing variance), Quince is one of my go-to places for affordable, high-quality wardrobe staples. I check in every season for updated core items.

Don’t expect luxe packaging or extra frills. Just simple, well-made clothes for women, men, and kids—at fair prices.

Boxwalla Beauty Box Feb 2021 Review – Seoulfull Star

by Lina Clémence June 11, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Rejoice green beauty aficionados because Boxwalla has extended the deadline for their February box* featuring fabulous British Indie brand Nini Organics …perfect moment for me to officially share my thoughts and perhaps sway you to succumbing if you’ve been remotely tempted… You have until the 22nd February 2021 to subscribe.

Although skincare and experiencing products lovingly crafted by passionate brand founders always brings me joy and knowing that a box of delights curated by Boxwalla is making its way to me will always thrill me, I was especially excited to receive the February 2021 box. January is a always a difficult month, dreary and bleak and to receive these gorgeous, vibrant, antioxidant rich products from Nini Organics felt somewhat akin to colour therapy. I’m well versed with Nini Organics and after an introduction to this lovely British (yay!) brand last year by way of their Natura Detox Foam cleanser, I was ecstatic that an entire box dedicated to this joy-inducing brand was on the horizon. Over my years of using green, indie brands, I have come to truly believe that brand creators somehow infuse their aura, their essence  (no pun intended) in all their magical concoctions. Products end up mimicking their makers and everything from the Nini Organics line is bright, characteristically colourful, effervescent, festive and highly effective- just like founder Alex. If you don’t follow them, I highly recommend for a dose of Alex every morning. His infectious enthusiasm will leave you truly happy. It just so happened that the 2 products, Crimson Beauty and Rain Hydrating Essence were high on my wishlist (doesn’t even surprise me, I am convinced Lavanya, the founder of Boxwalla is a psychic and knows exactly what my heart desires…)

Let’s start with what I consider the star of this box- Crimson Beauty. Firstly, you get 50ml of this gleaming red beauty, a generous size (for which I’m grateful as I don’t EVER want to run out!).  This is hydration galore. Hello, juicy, plump skin! And the scent…I think I’ve died and gone to heaven. It’s a real pleasure to use this every morning, with its delicately floral rose+neroli aroma, punctuated by comforting vanilla and cacao hmmm. Crimson beauty contains a hibiscus macerate (hibiscus is a flower I’m so drawn to as I love those bold, bright conspicuous petals that you find in all gardens in Mauritius, where I grew up), rose otto and neroli hydrosol bolstered by cucumber, glycerine and Quora Noni (which protects skin’s microbiome) to make a fabulously cocooning formulation. My favourite way to use it is in conjunction with an oil creating what is called a micro emulsion (which just happens to be my favourite word at the moment. Give me all the microemulsions, my skin cannot handle dense balms at the moment). Crimson Beauty is all I want a hyrdrating serum to be and it’s a resounding yes from me.

Next comes Rain. The colour of royalty, this cucumber scented mist has been a wonderful addition to my routines. I do love it post cleansing but mostly rely on it during the day, to infuse my skin with a burst of much needed moisture.  Rain contains just a kiss of glow inducing lactic acid so it’s not overly and cloyingly hydrating but actually balancing- the perfect midday mist basically. Whilst my preference always lies with finer mists normally, Rain comes gushing out but not aggressively though, but in the most pleasantly therapeutic manner, as if you’ve been caught in a lush drizzle of cucumber extract, neroli water, butterfly pea flower extract and milk thistle. It’s not a mere mist, the ingredient roster does really read like a wonderful serum and the fact that I’m misting myself with reckless abandon and whizzing through it at the speed of lightening speaks volumes.

I’m so pleased Lavanya chose to include this adorable miniature sample of Halo Cleansing Elixir for everyone to experience its glory. This is the first product I fell in love with from the Nini Organics line some years ago and I couldn’t help gushing about it, I’m surprise it hasn’t becoming a cult favourite yet.  For all lovers of blue tansy, this is a must try, in its passionfruit oil and jojoba oil base. I especially enjoy it as directed by Alex, massaged onto skin and removed with a cold washcloth, which is why I am saving it for warmer months to come. The high content of azulene really helps calm down any inflammation and I’m impatiently waiting for it’s return in my warm weather routines.

Once again, a perfectly selected box to start 2021 from Boxwalla. Get your hands on one while you can and if you’re a lover of luxury, plant-powered skincare, do consider subscribing to Boxwalla, it’s basically skincare nirvana.

Depology Matrixyl 3000 Travel Set Review — Laura Loukola

by Lina Clémence June 11, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Depology Matrixyl 3000 Travel Set Review

Matrixyl 3000 Collagen Boosting Serum $40 (€36.7) for 30ml (1.01 fl.Oz)
Matrixyl 3000 Travel Set $50 $40 (€36.7) for 30ml (1.01 fl.Oz) AND 9ml /0.30 fl.Oz)

For reference: I am 34 years old with normal-dry/dehydrated skin. My main concerns are dullness, tightness, and the occasional dry patch on my cheeks. My congestion is manageable, and I rarely break out anymore. Dehydration makes my fine lines and signs of aging more prominent, so I’m a huge fan of hydrating serums and essences. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve become pickier about the products I use: solely hyaluronic acid-based products can make my skin feel even tighter if I’m not quickly sealing them in with a layer of cream or facial oil.

Last fall I struggled with sinusitis, frequent flu, and fatigue (hence, I had to take some time off from work and blogging). I was often too tired to do my many-step skincare routine, but Matrixyl 3000 Serum was easy and quick to apply, comforting my skin instantly. I enjoy that Depology Matrixyl 3000 has several humectants (aloe leaf juice, glycerin, hyaluronic acid) and emollients (rosehip seed and sunflower seed oil) for long-lasting soothing and hydration. Not to forget the collagen-boosting star ingredient, which is in a high concentration. I’m finally healthy, and I’ve been using my 2nd bottle for a few weeks with my usual skincare routine. I still enjoy it! According to my experience, this serum is beneficial whether you prefer a complex skincare routine or a simplified one. I cannot measure my collagen levels, but my skin looks and feels smoother and brighter, and my fine lines are less pronounced.

My usual routine is cleansing, toning, and massaging a few drops of the serum on my face, neck, and décolléte. Especially if you pick up Matrixyl Collagen Boosting Serum Travel Set it will last you weeks, the price is very reasonable, and the mini bottle is easy to toss into your travel bag. I follow the serum with an eye cream, moisturizer, and SPF during the day. It works beautifully under makeup. My evening routine is similar, but I pair the Matrixyl 3000 serum with a retinol cream (or just a facial oil if I’m lazy). I also tested the serum paired with Depology Micro-Dart patches (review here) overnight to give my eye area extra pampering. Just make sure you let the serum absorb before applying the patches!

I would suggest this serum for most people and any skin type. It’s also vegan, cruelty-free, and free of artificial fragrance. I know people prone to acne may need to pay attention to coconut oil, but the amount seems minimal. I didn’t get any congestion (I struggled with acne in my mid-20s). For the best results, check out Depology’s simple ingredient pairing guide. I found it very helpful!

Depology Matrixyl 3000 Serum INCI

Water, Butylene Glycol, Matrixyl 3000, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Glycerin, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Hyaluronic Acid, Codium Tomentosum Extract, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Seed Extract, Cereus Grandiflorus (Cactus) Extract, Polyglyceryl-6 Caprylate, Trehalose, Hydroxyacetophenone, 1 ,2-Hexanediol, Coconut Oil, Rosehip Seed Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, Allantoin, Stearic Acid, Xanthan Gum

Spa Review: Cottonmill at Sopwell House

by Lina Clémence June 11, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

I recently escaped all my responsibilities for a spa day and overnight stay at Sopwell House in St Albans and thought it was the perfect thing to re-ignite my blog writing spark for a review. It’s been a while, but if there’s one thing I love to experience and share it would be spa time and treatments.

UK Spa Escape

This was actually my second visit to Sopwell House. I previously visited in 2020 for a two night trip with my husband for our anniversary. We actually only ended up staying one night as the spa was fully booked which meant we couldn’t book any treatments at all so decided to cut it short. However, the spa facilities were gorgeous and I knew I wanted to go back. So when a spa day and escape from mum life was offered up (as a lovely Mother’s Day gift) I jumped at the chance.

I booked the one night spa escape which includes spa access to The Club at Cottonmill as well as the standard Cottonmill spa facilities. Sopwell House has two ‘levels’ of spa – the standard Cottonmill and the Club at Cottonmill. The Club at Cottonmill is the multi-million pound refurb/spa extension that is a spa/private members area. It has top class facilities including beautiful spa gardens, deep relaxation space and whisper rooms. Plus spa gardens, outdoor hot tubs, indoor-outdoor spa pool. Overall it offers two floors of relaxing spa space with steam rooms, saunas and the like. All hotel guests get access to the main pool area (Cottonmill) as standard, but to access the The Club at Cottonmill you need to either pay the extra rate or book as part of your stay package. I believe the extra rate is around £150 for the day, but we’ve always booked packages with it included.

The room rate also included a three course dinner, and breakfast. Spa access is from midday on check in day to 11am on the check out day.

Any treatments are additional cost and I seriously recommend booking well in advance as on our first visit we hadn’t done this and there was no availability at all at check in. In hindsight an obvious error, but having booked the trip on the phone I felt like a heads up to also book spa treatments from the booking staff would have been helpful and good customer service.

This time around I booked a massage treatment, an hour long Aromatherapy Associates muscle relax treatment to try and pummel out all the tension I was holding. Let’s be honest, I needed more than an hour but that hour was great. The therapist did all the right things, talking me through the treatment and asking for pressure preferences and checking comfort levels etc. I can’t fault the treatments experience.

The other area I can’t fault is the changing rooms. It may seem fairly niche but the changing room experience really does tell you a lot about the spa you’re arriving at. The thing that caught my eye? The Dyson hairdryers. I love a Dyson hairdryer, they really are ace and it’s rare but welcome to see them in a communal changing room scenario. The lockers are decent sized and they have a selection of basics on offer for use – deodorant etc. The sort of things you know you need but easily forget. A good touch.

What are the major selling points of the spa?

Well, the Cottonmill spa space is just beautiful, both indoor and outdoor. For the outdoor area, of course the space can only be used in good weather but luckily that was the case and to be fair – when I previously visited in August 2020, we still used the outdoor hot tubs in the rain as no way was I missing out on some of the experience for a bit of bad weather.

There are three outdoor hot tubs, plus a number of outdoor sun lounger and sofa spaces. For a good weather day, there’s a lot of space to be enjoyed. Don’t forget your suncream if you’re planning to spend time outside when visiting.

Indoors, there’s also a fairly decent amount of space. A mixture of day beds, some hanging chairs that look great but not all that comfortable to actually sit on. On our August 2020 visit, they were some of the only options as all other spaces were full. Instagram friendly, not spa-nap friendly.

On this visit, it was much less busy so space to relax wasn’t an issue at all. You can also get drinks brought to your table/bed which is a nice perk. Using a QR code where you can pay using your phone easily.

Where did Sopwell House fall short of expectations?

Overall, the staff were great but there were a couple of issues where it comes to food service. I had three meals at Sopwell House. One in the Greenhouse space, one in the Brasserie and one (breakfast) booked as room service. All three meals took a long time to be served. Something I did raise with the front desk as I checked out. Honestly when it comes to service I always like to be pretty patient with it as long as any delays/issues are communicated but when it happened over and over each time, my patience started to wear thin. My biggest niggle with it was A) Every time I had to chase, when I was waiting 45minutes to an hour for food to be served – no staff realised or checked and B) It was all time I lost from being in the spa!

For additional transparency on my experience: I mentioned I raised the food service delays at checkout – I was told someone would come back to me to follow up. It’s now been two weeks since my stay and nobody has followed up as yet.

No, it’s not the biggest issue but it is something I feel they need to be aware of and look at how they can manage. I was told it was because they had a wedding on. I was also told by the assistant manager they have multiple weddings on every weekend from now until September. So if you’re visiting in that period it’s something to be aware of. As honestly, an hour wait for food to be delivered (especially in scenarios like breakfast where a 15 minute window is selected for the food to arrive – but then it was chased twice and didn’t arrive until an hour later) is longer than I think is acceptable.

ANYWAY. I really don’t want the food service niggles to overshadow the overall positive experience of escaping to a beautiful spa for a relaxing headspace break. The spa really is beautiful, even if some of the wider service issues do let Sopwell House down.

I think having now visited twice, I would perhaps look elsewhere for an overnight spa break and consider the service hiccups if planning food there too. However as a space and treatment wise, it was thoroughly enjoyable. A sunny day at the Cottonmill Spa would be hard to beat. Perhaps one that’s more suited to a day time spa escape than the full overnight stay experience.

How much does Sopwell House Cost?

Cost of overnight spa break: £375

Cost of 60 minute treatment: £115

Additional extras: Around £50 for all additional food and drinks for one person.

All above treatments and costs paid for by myself.

Emina Squeeze Me Up Lip Matte REVIEW (Semua Shade!)

by Lina Clémence June 10, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Emina Squeeze Me Up Lip Matte Review -Selain Wardah yang launching produk complexionnya bulan kemarin. Saya seniornya remaja tetep enggak mau ketinggalan sama produk terbaru Emina hihihi. Nah saya beli semua shade lip mattenya pas mereka baru launching…

Ohya mau sedikit selingan warning!

Emina Squeeze Me Up Lip Matte Review, Emina Squeeze Me Up Lip Matte swatch, Lipstick Emina, lipstick lokal, Emina cosmetics, lipstik terjangkau

PACKAGING

Kemasan Emina Squeeze Me Up Matte Lip ini dikemas dengan kotak dibagian luarnya. Kemasan kotak dusnya sama semua  pink pastel. Jadi kalau kalian ada rencana mau beli Squeeze Me Up ini, ada baiknya sebelum membeli cek dulu nama shade yang ada di kotak dusnya, pastiin bener-bener biar sesuai sama shade yang pengen dibeli. Jangan sampe salah~

[BACA JUGA] : REVIEW wardah uv shield Aqua Fresh Essence spf 50 PA ++++

Di kotak dusnya ini di setiap sisinya ada keterangan isi produk Netto, Batch No, Masa kadaluarsa, QR BPOM nya, Barcode, Ingredients, May Contain, Produced by, Logo halal dan yang pasti nomor keterangan shade produk. Keterangan singkat tentang produk ini juga ada.

Kemasan kotaknya ini bongkar pasang able banget. Sayangnya enggak disegel euy, rentan banget dicoba-coba orang.

[BACA JUGA] : Wardah Colorfit Matte Foundation SPF 30 PA+++ REVIEW

Jadi pas dipake ngeganggu banget, ketusuk gitu bibir saya pas ngaplikasiinnya wkwkwk…

TEXTURE & SCENT

Iya tau banget kalau tekstur kayak gini tuh jauh dari kata long lasting seharian. Tapi saya enggak masalah. selagi finish teksturnya nyaman banget di bibir, saya maafkeun perkara daya tahan.

Finishnya bener matte.

Enggak sih, masih menyisakan stain kalau kena “ketjup” walaupun sedikit. Pas saya cium pipi anak, pipinya jadi kayak pake blush on dong hahaha… Jadi jawabannya tidak kissproof dan transferproof.

Untuk staying powernya gimana?

Setelah saya gunakan berkali-kali 2 jam pertama patchynya baru keliatan, cuma masih enggak gitu ketara banget ya kalau dilihat sekilas. Kalau diperhatiin banget baru keliatan ada patchynya. Garis bibir juga makin kelihatan. Patchynya masih samar jadi normal saya nilainya untuk tipe tekstur dengan kesan finish powdery.

Selama puasa yang artinya enggak kena minum atau makan saya pakai gincu ini dari jam 12 Siang sampai 6 sore berbuka puasa, warnanya masih nyata terlihat dibibir, memang enggak sefull 2 jam pertama, tapi kayak tint dari warna lipsticknya masih kelihatan rapi dibibir walau sudah memudar. Jadi kalau saya nilai staying power lip matte ini bisa bertahan bagus selama 6 jam kondisi kita lagi puasa. Tapi kalau enggak puasa, kena makanan berminyak dan makan berat, lipsticknya ya memudar tapi masih rapi warnanya. Cuman ada baiknya di touch up lagi.

SHADE

Emina Squeeze Me Up Lip Matte 01 Have A Picnic

EMINA SQUEEZE ME UP – 01 Have A Picnic

Masih sedikitt! berbayang garis bibir.

EMINA SQUEEZE ME UP 02 Bake a Cookie

EMINA SQUEEZE ME UP – 02 Bake a Cookie

Huhuhu…mo nangis favorite lah!

EMINA SQUEEZE ME UP 03 City Cycling

EMINA SQUEEZE ME UP – 03 City Cycling

EMINA SQUEEZE ME UP 04 Lil Dancing

EMINA SQUEEZE ME UP – 04 Lil Dancing

LIKE

– Harga masih terjangkau 50rb-an aja !

– Kemasan travel friendly, rapat anti bocyor~

– Teksturnya mudah diblend, Creamy powdery lembuutt banget!

Emina Squeeze Me Up Lip Matte Review, Emina Squeeze Me Up Lip Matte swatch, Lipstick Emina, lipstick lokal, Emina cosmetics, lipstik terjangkau

Target saggy skin and wrinkles with this Korean bestselling eye cream! AHC Premier Eye Cream Core Lifting (Season 12) Review | KHERBLOG

by Lina Clémence June 10, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

There’s one detail I love about this version – the rose pattern inside the box! It’s gorgeous

I can smell some floral or even rose notes in AHC Premier Eye Cream Core Lifting, if you expected that there’s no scent – it’s hidden in the middle of the formula. The texture is quite thick and rich, sometimes it clogs the tip.

AHC Premier Eye Cream Core Lifting Season 12 – Ingredients

Rosa Damascena Flower Water, Butylene Glycol, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Propanediol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetearyl Alcohol, Betaine, Myristyl Myristate, Niacinamide, Phenyl Trimethicone, Water, Dipentaerythrityl Hexahydroxystearate/Hexastearate/Hexarosinate, Panthenol, Dipentaerythrityl Pentaisononanoate, Polyglyceryl-2 Stearate, 1,2-Hexanediol, PCA Dimethicone, Glyceryl Stearate, Stearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Polyacrylate-13, Jojoba Esters, Hydroxyacetophenone, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Wax, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Fragrance, Elaeis Guineensis (Palm) Oil, Ethylhexylglycerin, Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, Murraya Koenigii Stem Extract, Laminaria Japonica Extract, Eclipta Prostrata Leaf Extract, Adenosine, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Disodium EDTA, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Sorbitan Isostearate, Polyglycerin-3, Fructooligosaccharides, Collagen, Beta-Glucan, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Cyanocobalamin, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Tocopherol, C10-18 Triglycerides, Cetyl Palmitate, Potassium Sorbate, Ascorbic Acid, Acacia Decurrens Flower Wax, Ceramide NP, Poloxamer 188, Polyurethane-15, Coco-Betaine, Polyurethane-11

Rosa Damascena Flower Water
is a rose hydrosol with anti-inflammatory properties. It’s a source of flavonoids and it’s a great choice for dry, mature and acne-prone skin types. It might be sensitizing. Butylene Glycol is a common ingredient in products. It’s not only a solvent. We use butylene glycol because it helps penetrate active ingredients, protects products from drying, and moisturizes skin and hair. This ingredient can prevent hair loss and strengthen hair. Hydrogenated Polydecene is an emollient that leaves a silky, delicate, non-occlusive film on the skin’s surface. This ingredient is ideal for sensitive skin. Propanediol, also known as natural glycol, is an alternative to propylene glycol. It is a solvent with additional moisturizing properties, making the product smooth to the touch. It can even improve the effectiveness of active ingredients.

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride
is a combination of coconut oil and glycerin. It’s a notable emollient that is quite common in skincare. It leaves a protective film on the surface of the epidermis to save your cutis from dehydration. Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride has a significant role in skin care products – it makes the application process effortless. Some people might experience pore-clogging after using Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, but pore-clogging and skin reactions to ingredients are individual. What works for you might not work for someone else. Cetearyl Alcohol is a fatty alcohol. In the beauty industry, it’s an emollient. Many people associate alcohol with something awful for the epidermis, but not every alcohol is nasty. Cetearyl alcohol leaves a moisturizing film on the skin to prevent your skin from transepidermal water loss (TEWL). We use Cetearyl alcohol to create an emulsion.

Betaine
is an amino acid. We use it in skincare products for its moisturizing properties. Betaine keeps the water balance of the skin. It makes wrinkles appear less visible, and it soothes irritated skin. In hair care, betaine doesn’t only moisturize the hair. It makes hair soft and shiny. Betaine in cosmetics usually comes from sweet beetroots. It naturally occurs in the skin and hair. Myristyl Myristate is an oily emollient. It makes skin soft on the touch. This ingredient makes a film on the surface of the skin to prevent skin from TEWL (transepidermal water loss). It’s easy to apply on the skin, application is so smooth. It helps detangling hair.

Niacinamide
is a form of vitamin B3 – a vitamin soluble in water. It helps with problems like wrinkles, acne, skin texture, and enlarged pores and promotes collagen synthesis. Niacinamide makes the skin barrier stronger. It might be handy in cellulite treatments. Do you want to fight pigmentation or uneven skin? Try to mix niacinamide with Kojic Acid, Arbutin, Vitamin C, Tranexamic Acid or Retinol. Phenyl Trimethicone is silicone and an emollient. It improves the texture of the product and makes it easier to spread on the skin. Phenyl Trimethicone leaves a delicate film on the skin to prevent your skin from TEWL. It’s easy to remove it with cleansing products. This ingredient is useful in haircare products since it makes it easier to maintain your hair. In sunscreen, it makes products more resistant to water (it makes sunscreen more waterproof).

Water
is often hidden in cosmetic products under names such as “Aqua” or “Eau”. It’s a solvent, but it’s not your regular drinking water. Water in skin care products must meet specific standards. It should be clean and free from minerals, microorganisms, or other substances. Typically, water constitutes the majority of the product’s content. Dipentaerythrityl Hexahydroxystearate/Hexastearate/Hexarosinate is a thickener. It might help with the gloss and shine of the product.

Panthenol
is a humectant. It prevents skin from TEWL (Transepidermal Water Loss). Panthenol is also known as vitamin B5, and it helps with inflammation. Panthenol can soothe the skin irritated by preservatives, scent ingredients, and chemical sunscreens – it might have a meaning for lipids in our skin and skin barrier. It speeds up the healing process. It’s good to use it after sunbathing. In hair care, Panthenol has moisturizing properties. If you have problems detangling your hair or hair growth go for Panthenol. It is good to mix it with niacinamide and zinc oxide. You can see it in products for atopic dermatitis or psoriasis. Dipentaerythrityl Pentaisononanoate is an emollient and thickener.

AHC Premier Eye Cream Core Lifting (Season 12)

Polyglyceryl-2 Stearate
is a non-ionic surfactant and oily emollient. It’s mostly used as an oil-in-water emulsifier. 1,2-Hexanediol is a synthetic solvent and preservative. It protects products from microorganisms by boosting other preservatives. At the same time, it can moisturize the skin and has no unpleasant effects on the epidermis. PCA Dimethicone is a silicone. It works as occlusive and we use PCA Dimethicone in hair care products since it protects hair from temperature and makes your hair look softer. Glyceryl Stearate is an emollient with emulsifying properties. Usually, when we see any alcohol, we suspect the worst. You shouldn’t be scared of Stearyl Alcohol – it’s an oily emollient. It leaves a protective film on your skin, It works as an emulsifier too.

Olivem 1000 is a combination of Cetearyl Olivate and Sorbitan Olivate. It’s a natural emulsifier, and beauty companies use it to create an oil-in-water emulsion. Worth mentioning it’s a biodegradable formula. Acticire® MB is a mix of Jojoba Esters, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Wax, Acacia Decurrens Flower Wax and Polyglycerin-3. It’s an emollient with moisturizing properties. Polyacrylate-13 is a polymer that creates a film on the skin and hair to prevent water loss. Hydroxyacetophenone is an antioxidant that is supposed to help preservatives in the formula.

Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate
is an oil-in-water emulsifier. Hydrogenated Polyisobutene is an emollient. It’s a synthetic substitute for squalane. It leaves a delicate film on the skin, it prevents skin from dehydration. Fragrance (Parfum) is a scent composition. It can cause allergic reactions. Elaeis Guineensis (Palm) Oil is an oil that usually comes from Africa. It’s a source of lauric, myristic, oleic and palmitic acid. Palm oil also contains Vitamin E, beta-carotene and ubiquinone (coenzyme Q10). Beta-carotene gives it a red colour. This antioxidant has emollient properties. Ethylhexylglycerin is a preservative with subtle moisturizing and antimicrobial properties.

Glycerin
or Glycerol is a humectant. Depending on the product, its origin can be natural or synthetic. It protects TEWL (transepidermal water loss), which naturally occurs in the skin. It’s one of the NMFs and a natural moisturizing factor. It’s practical in hair care. Glycerin won’t clog your skin or irritate it—just the opposite—it protects your skin from irritation. Dipropylene Glycol is a solvent with moisturizing properties. Murraya Koenigii Stem Extract is one of the ingredients in EleVastin™. It’s a patented solution for the skin that boosts the synthesis of elastic fibres in the skin, but it also protects the skin from degradation so the skin won’t lose elasticity. EleVastin™ is focused on wrinkles and skin sagging that is not only related to loss of elasticity of the skin but it’s also caused by gravity.

Laminaria Japonica Extract
is an anti-inflammatory and antibacterial antioxidant. It’s a source of fucoidan and laminarin. It has moisturizing properties. Eclipta Prostrata (False Daisy) Leaf Extract is a source of vitamin C, flavonoids, triterpenes or phytosterol. False Daisy is a typical herb for Ayurveda. In skin care, this ingredient has anti-aging properties and it’s an antioxidant. In hair care, it helps with hair growth and regeneration. Adenosine naturally occurs in the skin. One of the roles of adenosine in our bodies is that of neurotransmitter. In skin care, we use adenosine for its anti-wrinkle properties. Adenosine is an anti-inflammatory ingredient. It can boost collagen production. At the same time, it speeds up the healing process. Adenosine can have positive effects on reducing redness. In hair care, adenosine can help with hair loss.

Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate
is an emulsifier. Disodium EDTA neutralizes metal ions in the formula to keep products fresh. Ethylhexyl Palmitate is an oily emollient that provides a satin-like film on the skin. It makes brushing your hair easier. Sorbitan Isostearate is an emulsifier. Polyglycerin-3 is a humectant since this ingredient is made out of glycerin molecules. It helps promote active ingredients deeper. Fructooligosaccharides are prebiotics. They nourish the skin and help the microbiome. Collagen is a big moisturizing molecule that leaves a film on the surface of the skin. It’s an ingredient that naturally occurs in our skin. Collagen is made of amino acids. In our skin, we can find collagen types I and III. Collagen can’t penetrate your skin, but it makes your skin barrier stronger and it can make wrinkles less visible visually.

AHC Premier Eye Cream Core Lifting (Season 12)

Beta-glucan
is a polysaccharide that can come from yeast, seaweed, or fungi. It’s one of the best humectants with soothing properties. It might help reduce wrinkle visibility on the epidermis. Some sources say it might be an antioxidant. Mix it with niacinamide and retinoids or use it after skincare treatments to heal the skin quickly. Beta-glucan leaves a film on the skin to prevent TEWL and lock the moisture inside the skin. Hydrogenated Lecithin is a version of lecithin. It works as an emollient in the formulas. Cyanocobalamin is nothing else than vitamin B12. It’s a water-soluble antioxidant. It’s an ingredient which you can find in products for wrinkles and pigmentation since this vitamin can help with both. Vitamin B12 is important for hair as well – it might help with dandruff, hair loss and hair breakage.

Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid is a low-weight humectant. We have to remember that not every molecule can get through the skin surface and lower molecule HA can penetrate the skin deeper and bring moisture inside the skin. It’s a natural polymer that binds water in the skin to prevent TEWL (transepidermal water loss). Tocopherol is an antioxidant known as Vitamin E. It’s an oil-soluble vitamin that fights free radicals and makes UVB protection and natural lipid barrier stronger. It’s good to mix it with vitamin C for better effects. Oily skin might react with pore-clogging to vitamin E. It is not true that vitamin E works as a preservative or helps with scars. C10-18 Triglycerides is emollient and solvent. Cetyl Palmitate is an oily emollient. Potassium Sorbate is a water-soluble preservative. It’s a weak preservative, and it should be paired with another preservative.

Ascorbic Acid is an antioxidant that stimulates collagen (type I and III) and elastin production. It helps with pigmentation – both PIE & PIH. It is better to use vitamin C during the morning routine because it boosts the efficiency of sunscreen. Ascorbic Acid can fix what free radicals destroy. Brands recommend mixing ascorbic acid with ferulic acid and vitamin E. Vitamin C has a cardinal role in strengthening the blood vessels and boosting wound healing. Ascorbic Acid in a concentration above 10% might be too irritative for sensitive skin or rosacea – even some acne-prone skin might not enjoy it. Ceramides naturally occur in the skin – it’s like cement in the skin. Ceramide NP or Ceramide 3 strengthens the skin barrier to prevent dehydration. Poloxamer 188 is an emulsifier. It’s used for oil-in-water formulas. Polyurethane-15 is a film-forming ingredient. Coco-Betaine is a mild surfactant popular in hair care and skin care. It has antistatic properties. Polyurethane-11 is a film-forming ingredient.

AHC Premier Eye Cream Core Lifting (Season 12)

How does AHC Premier Eye Cream Core Lifting (Season 12) work?

Let’s go through some technology and perks of AHC Premier Eye Cream Core Lifting first.

AHC promotes Premier Eye Cream Core Lifting as a cream that targets not only wrinkles but also the elasticity of the skin and problems caused by gravity. Now probably many of you think it’s bullshit, but it’s not. The truth is that aging is more complicated than you think, it’s not only oxidative stress and free radicals! It’s also hormones and its activity, collagen degradation and many other problems. It’s normal that with age women go through menopause which usually ends up for us with a decrease in estrogen activity. Skin gets thinner and looser, that’s a part of which gravity is going to take the biggest part since it makes our loose skin sag. One of the popular treatments lately is SMAS (Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System) lifting. SMAS itself is a three-layered structure that connects mimetic muscles with the dermis. This structure is mostly made out of fat cells, collagen and elastin fibres. SMAS thins with age and it affects skin sagging as well. So using solutions like EleVastin™ which AHC added to Premier Eye Cream Core Lifting might have sense.

EleVastin™ was developed by Gattefossé, a company that’s been on the market for 145 years. This company patented many innovative solutions for the skin. Another surprising ingredient is AHC’s human-identical Collagen6™, lately I’ve started to notice that AHC is focused more on collagen than peptides and that’s so unusual! On the other hand, I’m not surprised at all. It’s a combination of 6 types of collagen: T1 (COL1A1), T2 (COL1A2), T3 (COL1A3), T4 (COL1A4), T5 (COL1A5), T17 (COL1A17) and T21 (COL1A21). It doesn’t mean that AHC uses human collagen. They used matching amino acid sequences in the active region.

AHC Premier Eye Cream Core Lifting (Season 12)

In season 10, the innovation was the use of particles that are 1/1000 size of the pore size. AHC Premier Eye Cream Core Lifting Season 12 proves that AHC can do even better! Particles in this formula are 1/1,200 size of the pore size. According to the brand, particles can now penetrate 2,5 times deeper and they tested that on 21 women. One thing you have to know – AHC tests every single thing they share with customers so if you feel like there’s no way a product can be so innovative – they have papers to prove you wrong. As a person who works in the Asian beauty market, I see that many people in Western countries are not aware that the brands they use are made for Western customers or are quite inexpensive, but the cost of logistics made them expensive and that’s why it’s common to hear unpleasant things about K-beauty from people who probably haven’t ever heard about AHC or aren’t aware about the technology behind Laneige products.

Read more about: AHC Ten Revolution Real Eye Cream for Face (Season 10)

The process of making particles so small is quite complex. AHC uses the quadruple pressure method, it’s a patented AHC method that uses ultra-high speed and ultra-high pressure.

The main base for this product is Rosa Damascena Flower Water, aka rose water. It’s an interesting choice. Not that innovative, but unexpected. AHC Premier Eye Cream Core Lifting might have “eye cream” in its name, but this line of eye creams is called “eye cream for face” for a reason – it’s not only a product that works around the eye area, you can use it on your entire face (and neck!) to target wrinkles and elasticity in other parts of your face.

There are some things to love this eye cream for, I enjoyed it even more than I enjoyed the previous version even if I don’t have problems with skin sagging (and I hope these problems won’t be mine for as long as it’s possible), but with the amount of time I spend on sleep and amount of time I use computer or smartphone, I’m joking that the only way my eye area still does well are AHC eye creams. I had a moment in which I had to switch to another cream from the AHC series (I used AHC Pro Shot Hyaluro-Deep Volume 5 Capsule-Infused Eye Cream For Face after eye surgery). For years I’ve been introducing my family to AHC Eye Creams and this year my cousin got obsessed with the lifting of this version. According to her, the saggy skin around her eye looks more lifted. Obviously, there’s no way to measure that but if that’s what she sees and feels then I’m glad she enjoyed it.

I usually felt like every 2nd season was not that good, but since season 9 AHC has proven to me that each new product has some innovative approach. They didn’t release any eye cream I wouldn’t enjoy in the last few years. Still, I believe AHC Premier Eye Cream Core Lifting (Season 12) is going to be most suitable for women over the age of 35 since they are usually affected by estrogen activity.

AHC Premier Eye Cream Core Lifting (Season 12)

Where to find AHC Premier Eye Cream Core Lifting (Season 12) and how much does it cost?

AHC Premier Eye Cream Core Lifting (Season 12) is available at YesStyle*, it costs $13.36 for a 40ml tube, but you can use my affiliate code BETWEENDOTS to save an additional 2-5% off. There’s also a mini size on YesStyle*, it costs $6.16/12 ml so it’s more affordable to go with full size.

Overall, once again I’m not disappointed with AHC. If you’re over 35 and you want to focus on the eye area of skin sagging, give AHC Premier Eye Cream Core Lifting (Season 12) a try, it might be a solution your skin needs.

CurrentBody Skin LED Lip Perfector Review

by Lina Clémence June 8, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Review of the first targeted anti aging LED device for Lips- the CurrentBody Skin LED Lip Perfector

I was kindly sent one of Currentbody’s newest devices to try out- their Lip LED device for anti-aging. I have already been very impressed with my results from from their face LED device, so this is going to be an interesting trial. It’s certainly an unusual device, I don’t think I’ve come across specific lip device before. Plenty of people struggle with aging around the mouth area particularly, it’s a very mobile part of the face and quickly shows signs of aging. I have an amazing discount code for my readers, just head to Currentbody.com type in NIA15 for 15% off at checkout.

We did an episode on whether LED devices are any good on my podcast, Skincare with Friends. We discovered that LED can be effective against the signs of aging but it has to have to have specific qualities. Let’s see if the Currentbody Lip LED has the chops.

(The device was given to me free of charge to try out and review, the links are affiliate which means I get a small percentage if you click and spend, which will go back into my blog.)

What Currentbody has to say about the LED Lip Perfector

CurrentBody Skin LED Lip Perfector- The Science

It seems too good to be true doesn’t? that something as simple as a light could reverse aging. But there is actually good science behind it and a reasonable explanation as to how it works. I’m summarising here but this is basically how the scientists think it works.

LED treatments are also known as Low Level Laser Therapy or photobiomodulation and it has numerous applications. LED devices are used for all sorts of application in the medical field- for hair loss, wound healing, seasonal effective disorder, NASA uses LED therapy to help heal inflammation and muscle damage.

While the skin is frequently exposed to light, LED therapy is different to normal visible light in that it has a very narrow electromagnetic wavelength and higher energy than normal light. The therapeutic LEDs emit photons which have a cellular effect. The photons cause a release of reactive oxygen species and ATP which in turn stimulate messenger chemicals which tell the cell to regenerate and produce collagen (Yeh et al, 2010).

CurrentBody Skin LED Lip Perfector- The Science
CurrentBody Skin LED Lip Perfector- The Science- Avci et al, 2013

There have been several studies which show that LED treatments with red light and infrared light (the same wavelengths that the Currentbody Lip LED device uses!) have the following effects-

  • Increases collagen levels in the skin
  • Improves skin smoothness
  • Speeds up healing time
  • Reduces redness
  • Helps treat acne
  • Improves blood flow
  • Protection from UV sun damage
  • Reduces wrinkles (Avci et al, 2013).

According to Avci et al, 2013, the treatments provided in the studies used machines that have energy of 0.04–50 J/cm2 and power densities of < 100 mW/cm2. Wavelengths in the range of 390 nm to 600 nm are used to treat the top most layers of skin, and longer wavelengths in the range of 600nm to 1,100nm, which penetrate more, are used to treat deeper layers. The CurrentBody Skin LED Lip Perfector has good energy levels and a range of wavelengths that can help with the effects of aging as well as improving healing and skin quality.

Also of note, any age skin can benefit from light treatment, not just the over 40s. Trelles (2006), recommended LED phototherapy for those in their 20s as a way to prevent aging.

CurrentBody Skin LED Lip Perfector Review

The CurrentBody Skin LED Lip Perfector comes with a base which connects magnetically to the device. It has a plastic cover, a replacement mouth piece and handy carry bag. It’s rechargeable and the charge lasts for ages. The packaging is nice and feels like good quality.

The device is shaped like a dummy (aka pacifier) and you hold it in your mouth. You press the button and the lights come on. It will turn itself off once the three minute treatment time is over. I do find my jaw aches a bit holding the device between my teeth, but it’s only three minutes, so that’s not so bad. It would probably be better if I lay down for the treatment and let gravity give me a hand but I’m not great at sitting still. The treatment is painless and just feels a little warm.

I’ve used the device for several weeks, missing the odd day when I’ve been too busy. I think I’ve noticed some difference in the quality of the skin around my mouth. Maybe less lined and smoother. I wouldn’t say my lips are plumper, that could be something that happens over a longer period of time perhaps? Here are my before and after pictures and some that the brand took also-

I think that the CurrentBody Skin LED Lip Perfector would be a great device for someone with particular issues around the mouth area. It would be great for smoker’s lines, smile lines or marionettes. Rejuvenating the mouth/lip area is particularly difficult- it’s a sensitive area for retinoids, you can’t really use botox in the same way you can elsewhere for fear of affecting the smile. The CurrentBody Skin LED Lip Perfector is a great targeted solution to perioral aging.

My Lip Flip Before and After: A Review From Injector

by Lina Clémence June 7, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Have you ever come across the term “lip flip”? It’s a procedure designed for anyone seeking a subtle boost in their lip size. Rather than opting for fillers that add bulk, the lip flip aims to give the illusion of fuller lips.

So, how does it work? A healthcare practitioner administers tiny injections (yes, those famous ones begin with “B” and end with “X”) that relax the muscles around the upper lip. This technique gently flips the upper lip outward, offering a naturally plumper look without adding any actual volume.

As an aesthetic injector who is always up for exploring, I thought, “Why not test it on myself?” So, that’s exactly what I did, and here’s a brief look at my experience, the transformative lip flip before and after, and my reflections on the process.

A Little About my Lips

Chasing after the so-called “ideal” lips has never really been my thing. What’s considered “ideal” seems to change faster than the seasons anyway. Right now, everyone’s all about that full-lip look, but who’s to say the preference for thin, elegant lips won’t make a swift return?

Here’s the deal with my lips: they’re completely natural, as you’ll spot in the “Before” picture (see below), showcasing their genuine lines and form. The lower lip? It’s got a bit of plumpness to it. But the upper lip presents its own little twist—an asymmetry with a noticeable “gull wing” silhouette. This essentially means the cupid’s bow is quite pronounced, creating a visual reminiscent of, well, gull wings.

To me, there’s something special about their distinct shape. However, the chance to explore the world of cosmetic enhancements, especially with something as non-permanent as the procedure known by “B” and ending with “X”, really caught my attention. So, off I went, embarking on a quest to find an expert injector and take the plunge myself.
