How to Build a Sustainable Wardrobe with Style — FASHION me GREEN

by Lina Clémence June 20, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

I love a good closet clean out! And this time I used Lizzie Edwards, a stylist based in London, to help me. Lizzie has a new book called Dress Like the Leader You Are, and it really resonated with me. Might be that because I’m now in my 30s and running a company, I felt the need to upgrade my wardrobe to match the woman I am growing into. And also, I needed a kick in the butt to stop wearing leggings (quarantine attire much?)!

In this week’s video, I bring you along on my closet cleansing journey and share what I’m loving, letting go of, and looking to round out my wardrobe to make it more wearable. I hope this inspires you!

Margie Plus Savage X Fenty Street Style

Margie Plus : Margie Plus Savage X Fenty Street Style

Margie Plus Savage X Fenty Street Style

Needless to say, I instantly fall in love with anything Rih touches..and Savage X Fenty is no exception! At a size 18 I never really got to experience cool girl lingerie and am having the time of my life rocking everything Savage. Not only is the price point STELLAR but they also go up to a size 3x and are working on launching a DDD bra soon (they already go up to a DD). I wanted to put a daytime spin on the lingerie pieces by pairing with a neon turtleneck and neon green socks to match. I accessorized with some super over the top vintage crystal earrings and see through shoes to give me an out of this world look.

Junior Style Awards 2025 – Junior Style

by Lina Clémence June 17, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

The Junior Style Awards is an annual, nonprofit initiative founded by Junior Style Editor-in-Chief, Aleksandra Ataca. Created to spotlight the outstanding achievements within the children’s fashion industry, the Awards recognize the individuals and brands whose creativity, vision, and dedication set new standards year after year.

A Distinctive Celebration of Excellence in Children’s Fashion

The Junior Style Awards proudly returns for its second year, reaffirming its place as a prestigious annual, nonprofit initiative dedicated to celebrating outstanding achievements across the children’s fashion industry.

Founded as a nonprofit initiative by Aleksandra Ataca, Editor-in-Chief of Junior Style, the Awards were created to elevate the voices, talent, and innovation within the global kids’ fashion community. This unique platform recognizes the artistry, dedication, and creative vision that shape the industry today.

From visionary designers and beloved brands to talented models, photographers, stylists, makeup artists, influencers, and content creators, the Junior Style Awards spotlight the individuals and teams whose contributions move the world of children’s fashion forward.

Junior Style Awards

What Sets the Junior Style Awards Apart

At Junior Style, we believe in celebrating the creators, visionaries, and dreamers shaping the world of children’s fashion — and the Junior Style Awards is our way of honoring that vibrant spirit. The Awards continue to serve as a platform grounded in the values that matter most: inclusivity, authenticity, and community. So what makes it truly unique?

Open and Inclusive by Design
True to its founding mission, the Junior Style Awards remains free to enter and open to all — from rising stars to established names — as long as their work contributes meaningfully to the children’s fashion landscape. No paywalls, no gatekeeping — just pure talent and creativity.

An Empowering Nomination Process
Participants are encouraged to nominate themselves or others whose work deserves the spotlight. This is your moment to be seen and to bring our attention to the work you believe in. Each category has been carefully curated to honor excellence across every facet of our industry. The process offers everyone an equal opportunity to be celebrated — based on talent and creativity, not participation fees — because inspiration comes in many forms.

Expertly Judged
Winners are selected by a distinguished panel of industry insiders, each bringing years of experience and a sharp editorial eye. This esteemed jury ensures that each accolade reflects true merit — not just popularity.

Junior Style Awards

Powered by the Community
Through our open voting system, we invite the wider Junior Style community to have their say. It’s a moment for fans, families, and followers to rally behind their favorites, turning the Awards into a collective celebration of admiration and connection.
Being shortlisted is also a powerful opportunity to boost your brand’s visibility and connect with a global audience that appreciates creativity, authenticity, and style.

A New Generation of Voices
This year, we are proud to introduce our Kids’ Ambassador Panel — a thoughtful group of young fashion enthusiasts whose unique perspectives will help shape the final results. After all, in an industry inspired by children, their voices belong at the heart of the conversation.

As it enters its second year, the Junior Style Awards continues to grow into more than just a competition — it’s a global celebration of talent, inclusion, and the future. A space where creativity is honored, diversity is embraced, and every voice — young and seasoned — has a place to shine.

Junior Style Awards

Being shortlisted or winning a Junior Style Award is more than a moment of recognition — it’s a mark of excellence in the children’s fashion industry and a launchpad for lasting visibility.

Exclusive Winner Assets

All shortlisted participants and winners will receive the official Junior Style Awards logo, designed for use across digital and print platforms. It’s a trusted symbol of distinction and creativity within the industry.

Feature on JuniorStyle.net

Winners will be prominently featured on JuniorStyle.net, gaining exposure across our global platform and placing your work in front of an engaged, fashion-forward audience.

Invitation to Celebrate in New York

All shortlisted nominees will be invited to the Junior Style Awards Celebration in New York, taking place on July 27during CHILDREN’S SHOW — New York City’s elevated bi-annual kid’s fashion and lifestyle trade show.
The evening follows our highly anticipated CHILDREN’S SHOW RUNWAY powered by Junior Style, and brings together the industry for an elegant cocktail reception — a chance to connect, celebrate, and toast to creativity in the heart of the city.

Ongoing Recognition

Winning doesn’t end with an announcement. Throughout the year, award recipients will have opportunities to be featured in Junior Style projects, editorials, interviews, and campaigns — keeping your work in the spotlight long after the awards are announced.

Nomad iPhone & iPad Cases / Style Dieter

by Lina Clémence June 14, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Many lifestyle brands and products that are built around a rugged lifestyle lack a refined touch. But not Nomad.

From the “ChargeCard” Kickstarter project in 2012 to now a quality, legit growing accessory brand, Nomad has come a long way.

From the many similar brands that I’ve seen, this burgeoning brand seems to have nailed both “form” and “function” perfectly, especially the leather iPhone and iPad cases that I like very much.

Nomad Goods Iphone Ipad Nomad IPhone & IPad Cases

Nomad appreciates subtlety and understands that their customers would too, and so they don’t slap logos on their products’ beautiful leather surfaces. #majorlove The brand also takes product ageing into consideration in their product design, and they walk the talk by featuring “After 100 Days” photos on all their leather product pages.

On the other hand, the brand dedicated a “Wallpaper” page featuring downloadable wallpapers which I really appreciate. This nice little branding act is often overlooked when profit margin and business growth is the priority.

Illusion Dressing – Even the Victorians Did It — Inside Out Style

by Lina Clémence June 8, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

twitterpinterestlinkedinmail

Dressing to create an illusion around the shape of your body, is something we tend to think as a modern invention, yet even the Victorians were partial to using clothing to create illusions about their body shape to create the ideal shape of the day (an hourglass with a small waist).

I found this Instagram video by scientist Hannah Fry a great inight as she goes into detail about how the Victorians may have sometimes used “tight lacing” to achieve this idealised figure, but there was also a lot of trickery that was also used that didn’t create the pain and deformity of lacing corsets so tightly that your rib cage became deformed.

Interestingly, in the comments, one person mentioned that they were talking to a museum curator who explained that, essentially, smaller-sized clothing and shoes have survived (and ended up in exhibitions) because it was often just less recyclable.  Many women would have been using and reusing dresses and fabric repeatedly to make new clothing, and the more common and larger sizes would have been upcycled this way.  Clothing was hugely expensive and a big investment and was also something that was passed down to other members of the family (even in wills).  This means that many garments in larger sizes would have been worn, recycled, and eventually worn out and never ended up in a museum.  In the video below by Bernadette Banner, she talks about the survivorship bias of smaller clothes and the reasons why they have survived.

Here is a longer, fascinating video about the myth of the tiny waist and exactly how the Victorians got their apparent tiny waists.

Applying this Illusion in the 2020s and beyond

This is why with the current trend of wider leg pants, which gives you the illusion of a wider lower half, if you wear a loose blouse or top, it needs to be tucked in and then bloused (or fluffed as Bernadette calls it) over the top of the waistband to create the illusion of a narrower waist.

Shoulder pads and other shoulder details also help to make waists appear smaller. This is why a blazer can be such a flattering garment. They generally have shoulder pads and are made with a little structure that helps to smooth over our normal lumps and bumps, just like the Victorian petticoats did.

When you understand how line and scale work, you can use these illusion tools to create any body shape you want.  It’s what all the body shape guidelines are based on, so next time you’re wondering if a garment suits  your body and will make you the shape you desire, then you just need to use the right illusion tools!

Fashions change, but also go around in circles, with different silhouettes being the desired ones at different eras in history.

Write an title about: Style & Comfort — The Collyer Twins

by Lina Clémence June 3, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

rewrite this content and keep HTML tags as is:

I think we’ve all seen enough trackies to last us a lifetime. I’ll admit it’s been a necessity to choose comfort in your own home but it’s also done something to our psyche (well at least ours…) It’s made us that little bit more complacent and lazy with a ‘I’ll do it tomorrow’ kind of attitude. The kind of attitude that doesn’t do it tomorrow but instead indulges and sinks further into the couch.

Now that 2021 is in full swing and Spring & Summer will be here before we can even blink, there’s no excuse. We’re also looking ahead with a dash of hope (despite the inevitable fluctuations of the tier systems that will most likely prevail for the majority of the year.) and starting to shift our wardrobe perspectives.

Below we’ve selected a few of our current fave pieces. Let’s call it style mixed with comfort. Even in the parameters of your own home, it’s nice to wear a nice outfit (shove on some slippers too) to put you in right mindset that makes you feel like a go-getter rather than a lazy couch potato.

#StyleYourMask Beauty, Style and Amazon Gift Card Giveaway!

by Lina Clémence June 2, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

I’ve got a really sweet giveaway for you guys! It’s the perfect 2020 haul – makeup, skincare, mask, mask chain, and a $50 Amazon gift card! Keep reading to find out more.

The Good Doctor's Guide to Colds and Flu - updated with COVID -9 info in January 2021

There is so much misinformation about the coronavirus out there. Let’s hear it straight from the doctors on the front line. The Good Doctor’s Guide to Colds & Flu by pulmonologist, Dr. Neil Schachter, MD, is being updated in January to include info on COVID-19. This book has a lot of great tips about protecting yourself and treating colds and flu. For example, maybe this seems obvious now in the COVID-19 era but he says to never borrow a pen during cold and flu season. Bring your own pen to sign receipts or to check in at your doctor’s office. I’m totally on board with that now! There’s also some great advice on home remedies and pharmaceuticals.

The good doctor himself has decided to donate ALL of the proceeds from this book to patient advocacy organizations to help keep us safe! Dr. Schachter is sponsoring today’s giveaway to encourage more people to wear those masks!

So let’s talk about masks. I’ll be the first to admit – I do NOT look cool in a mask! LOL! The only good thing is the masks cover up most of my acne. You guys are complaining about maskne, but I’ve been dealing with that stuff since puberty! Welcome to the club!

I am definitely going to need to keep wearing masks for the rest of the year and probably most of 2021. I have preexisting conditions that put me at high-risk for COVID-19 (POTS which causes shortness of breath – and thyroid cancer). So if I have to go to a store, I am masking it up. BUT, I have found some ways to make masks more fashionable and a lot easier to wear.

#StyleYourMask beauty, skincare, mask chain, book and Amazon gift card giveaway!

I have recently started wearing my blogger friend Lara’s mask chains. You may know her as @prettyconnected on Instagram. Her mask chains are all the rage right now and loved by celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker (the queen of fashion herself!).

In these pics I’m wearing the short Mermaid Mini chain along with the leopard print Simple Satch mask that I was sent for this giveaway, but I just bought the long version of the mermaid chain too.

makeup, mask and mask chain giveaway!

They are SO CUTE you guys! And so useful – when you’re not wearing the mask, it’s ready and waiting around your neck, and when you are wearing it, the chain loops give you a little extra style! There are lots of styles to choose from – and they can be worn by men or women.

Glo Skin Beauty cool smokey eye set

When I’m wearing a mask, I try to play up my eyes a bit more, since that’s pretty much all you see. Those that follow me know I love Glo Skin Beauty. I’ve been using their cruelty free mineral makeup and skincare, and they have a lot of really great products.

Glo Skin Beauty cool smokey eye look with leopard mask

For this post, I’m wearing their Cool Smokey Eye Kit. It comes with a full-sized cool smokey shadow quad and a full-sized Cream Stay Shadow Stick in Orbit (matte charcoal). There’s also a warm version of this set. The products are mineral-based, clean and talc-free. The shadows are highly pigmented and very easy to blend.

Glo Skin Beauty Retinol Plus C Smoothing Peel in a Box

I also love their skincare – especially the exfoliating AHA products. For this giveaway, I’ll be including the Smokey Eye Kit ($40) AND the Retinol Plus C Smoothing Peel in a Box ($75)! If you can’t go to a spa or dermatologist right now, this is a great at-home, professional-level kit for glowing skin.

But that’s not all folks! In addition to the Pretty Connected mask chain, Simple Satch mask, Glo smokey eye kit and Retinol + C skincare set, I’m also including a $50 Amazon gift card! We could all use some holiday cheer right now, am I right?

#StyleYourMask giveaway

To enter, wait for the Rafflecopter widget to load below. You must be 18 or older, US only. We are not responsible for prizes lost in the mail. Giveaway ends December 21st at 12 am PST. The winner will be contacted via email.

Summer Style Favs: Palazzo Pants

by Lina Clémence May 31, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Hey curvies!!!

I am so excited to bring you all a new four part series “Summer Style Favs.” With having surgery before Summer my energy was very low for the most part. I finally feel like myself.

Second up is palazzo pants. One of my all-time go to summer favs is palazzo pants (similar). Palazzo pants (similar) are the most comfortable, chic, and casual pair of pants you will ever wear. These pants literally only require a body, nothing more. I was so happy about these pants the moment I laid eyes on them. The pattern is perfect.

This outfit was super easy to complete. My number one obsession is tank tops. I really have it bad. I buy tank top every chance I get and the store does not matter. I grabbed a black tank top from my closet and paired it with these gorgeous pants. I have been dying to try some flatform sandals and they were perfect with these pants. I added a cute little bucket bag and enjoyed my day.

Style Notes: The pants (similar) are true to size in a 2x. The tank top is super stretchy in an large. The flatform sandals are true to size and wide feet friendly in a 10.

Fashion Activism  – The Chief of Style

by Lina Clémence May 31, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Fashion is often dismissed as superficial or frivolous—but in reality, it has always been a powerful form of self-expression and resistance. From traditional regalia worn proudly in protest to slogan tees on the runway, fashion can speak louder than words. In a world that constantly tries to define and confine us, choosing what we wear can be a radical act of reclaiming identity, asserting agency, and building solidarity.

Fashion as Cultural Resistance

For Indigenous, Black, queer, and other marginalized communities, fashion has long been used to preserve culture and challenge colonization. Traditional garments, beadwork, hairstyles, and accessories are not just aesthetic—they are political. They carry ancestral knowledge, connection, and pride. Wearing them unapologetically in modern spaces becomes an act of resistance against erasure.

Whether it’s ribbon skirts at a rally or braided hair at a boardroom table, fashion tells a story of resilience.

Amy Stretten, The Chief of Style, styled this look on a mannequin to bring some visual storytelling to my booth at the NDN Flea Market at The Chapter House LA. The shirt features a powerful political message: Free Leonard Peltier.
This mannequin look brought visual storytelling to my booth at the NDN Flea Market at The Chapter House LA—centered around a bold statement tee calling for the freedom of Leonard Peltier. (Who is now free—Yay!)

The Rise of Statement Pieces

Fashion activism has also become more overt in recent years. Think protest fashion: jackets that say “I am not your mascot,” pins that support reproductive rights, or collections inspired by environmental justice. Statement pieces bring attention to causes while also allowing the wearer to align their values with their style.

Designers and brands are increasingly using their platforms to amplify messages of equity, sustainability, and justice. But it’s not just about what the runway says—it’s about what we choose to wear in our everyday lives.

The Power of Personal Style

Fashion is personal, and how we present ourselves can shape the way we experience the world. For those of us who live at the intersection of multiple identities, fashion becomes a way to assert visibility and authenticity.

Dressing in a way that honors who you are—whether that means mixing vintage with Native-made, rocking bold prints, or refusing to shrink yourself to fit a mold—is inherently political. It challenges the norms that tell us to be quiet, to blend in, or to make ourselves more palatable. Honoring our culture and expressing our gender go hand in hand—they’re both sacred truths of who we are.

Wear Your Truth

Activism doesn’t always have to look like marching in the streets. Sometimes, it looks like getting dressed in the morning with intention. Choosing to support Indigenous designers. Choosing slow fashion over fast. Choosing to adorn yourself with joy, pride, and power.

Fashion can be armor. It can be protest. It can be a love letter to your ancestors and a vision for the future.

So the next time someone calls fashion shallow, remind them: What we wear is never just about clothes. It’s about culture, courage, and consciousness.

2022 Fall Fashion Ideas for an Everyday Person / Style Dieter

by Lina Clémence May 30, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

The season of the witch is upon us, and you want to make sure that you and your family are prepared. You have already stocked up on pumpkin spice, Halloween candy, and costumes. You have all the school supplies you will need for the year. Now you want to make sure that you have the proper clothing to wear for fall. There are a few things that will make the fall season special for each person in your family.

Kids

Fall is special for both adults and children because of Halloween. Children love to dress up on the holiday itself. However, you can celebrate this haunting occasion all through the month of October. You can find on-demand printing sites on the internet where you can make your very own Halloween shirt.

Your shirt can feature a picture of your kid in their Halloween costume or an image of a favorite pet dressed in theirs. Your shirt can pay tribute to a scary movie or your favorite holiday cartoon. All you have to do is upload an image to the on-demand printer’s website, and they will put it on the article of clothing of your choice. You can get custom hoodies here.

If you have kids that love to accessorize, you can make backpacks, socks, and tote bags on these sites as well. If your kid gets a lot of compliments on their bling, you can even sell those items to other people through the on-demand printer.

Women

Fall fashions for 2022 are all about comfort this year, making them perfect for the average person. Oversized clothing is back. Department stores are stalking up on large bomber jackets, oversized metallic sweaters, and baggy jeans. You will see a lot of floor-length skirts in the office this Fall. Many designers have included maxi dresses in their Autumn lines.

Multi-colored sweaters are also coming back into fashion this year. You will see them in every style, from cardigans to pullovers.

If you want to find a cheap fall fashion accessory or two, you can get fun Halloween and Thanksgiving-themed socks and PJs at any discount store.

Men

Designers of men’s fashion are going for an 80s retro look. Not only is the bomber jacket coming back, but varsity-style jackets are trending as well. You will see turtle necks paired with dockers and loafers for a traditional preppy look. If you can’t afford to get the designer version of these items, you will find plenty of knock-offs at your local Walmart or Target store.

You will see more raw denim in stores than in previous years. Raw denim is stiffer than denim that has been treated. It looks more natural when it begins to fade. There is a better color contrast between areas of the jeans that have faded and those that have not.

Raw denim will eventually fit the wearer’s body, and the rips and fades will be unique. Designers such as Roy charge a good price for these jeans, but they will last forever, and they will be uniquely your own.

Autumn is a season of transitions. Adding a few new items to your wardrobe gives you a chance to express yourself and rejuvenate for the year to come.
