The inevitable – My Women Stuff

by Lina Clémence August 4, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

I’ve been struggling with this, but it feels like the inevitable has happened.

I no longer have the time to maintain MWS 🙁

I’ve tried about 5 times this past week to write this post, which really tells you how much of a struggle it has been, both to find time to write, and to find the right words to say.

It isn’t to say that I’m pulling the plug and closing down the site for good. Reviews of discontinued products aside, I believe that there are some posts with useful tips shared over the 17+ years that I’d been writing & maintaining it, that will still be helpful to someone. Perhaps I might even return to write the odd post, just to keep the wheels oiled and the hand in.

However, the reality is that I have struggled to find the time to write in an in-depth manner as I used to. When I wrote my 4000th post, I told myself that I would try to write a little more regularly. I have been using quite a few new products in this time that I’ve been away from the blog, that I wanted to talk about. And then, I realised that I’d scraped out the last bit of cream, squeezed out that last bit of cleanser, opened up a new product, am about halfway through, AND STILL HAVE NOT YET EVEN PHOTOGRAPHED THE FIRST!

That has been the biggest challenge for me – finding the time and place to take photographs, transfer to the computer, edit and then upload. It has been the biggest challenge I’ve faced in blogging all these many years, and it might just be the straw that breaks the proverbial camel’s back. Those of you on Instagram will also have realised that I am far less active on there than I used to be. I make time to be on Instagram for work, but not much more than that.

Writing has always come fairly easy to me, but juggling the time to write has also been a challenge lately. Each time I open up my dashboard, I’ve found myself distracted by the other 238429 things I need to do elsewhere for my growing business.

It is interesting (for me) to have this realisation now, as my birthday approaches. I usually write something thoughtful for the occasion, and I was not intending to this year. But it being a milestone year, I suppose a bit of introspection is necessary.

About 10 years ago, I shared that I had turned 40. Unlike many bloggers who started blogging out of school, or in their 20’s, I only started in my 30’s. I came to a love for beauty products later in life, only after I had started working and having my own money to splurge. Blogging was then relatively new, and I found it to be a great outlet for me to talk about and share my thoughts on products and the industry.

Blogging opened doors to a world I would never otherwise have been a part of, allowed me to meet the most interesting people in the industry, brought me a core group of friends I would never have otherwise met, and brought me places & gave me experiences I might never otherwise have had the chance to enjoy. I had an amazing 17+ years in the industry and I always thought it would be one I’d eventually ‘retire’ in.

10 years ago, if you had told me that I would today, as I enter a new decade, not be blogging as much, not be travelling as much, have a pup around which my life is centred, and have left my professional job and turned into an entrepreneur in the pet industry, I would have laughed and told you it was an alternate universe. It was unthinkable for me back then. I was in a decent career, footloose & fancy free, and living life large.

10 years ago, I studiously avoided going outside, I hated any form of exercise, and I enjoyed a lot of little life luxuries. Today, I still hate exercise, but I make it a point to go out for walks because my dog needs it, and he can’t walk by himself. I go out in the sun, and my skin has developed more hyperpigmentation than before (although far less than I thought I’d have, thanks to good sunscreen!). Luxury these days is a little time spent away from the clingy little pup – I have not visited a mall in months!

10 years ago, I would be out in my heels and fancy leather bags, visiting malls to ‘research’ the latest beauty brands and products, going for media events and generally having a good time being feted. Today, I prize lightweight, plain, nylon crossbody bags that leave my hands free, sneakers, and comfortable active/casual wear that allows freedom of movement to walk the very active dog, and work in the kitchen. The only events I go to are pet bazaars or pop-ups where I get to meet very enthusiastic little pups that bring me so much joy.

If you’d asked me back then, what I would have expected as I turned 50, I would have told you that it would likely have been more of the same – travel, life’s luxuries & being more involved with the beauty industry. Instead, partway through, we experienced lockdowns, movement/travel restrictions and quarantine, and in the midst of it all, I discovered a new passion – canine nutrition.

Today, as I turn 50, I am a Certified Professional Canine Nutritionist, I am elbows deep in raw meats & strange organ parts daily, I’ve discovered a whole new world of product sourcing and packaging, and I operate a semi-professional kitchen producing dehydrated, freeze-dried & baked dog treats. In August, we took the plunge and invested in a freeze-drying machine, that has opened up a whole new world of potential and allowed us to be just 1 of 2 Malaysian made freeze-dried dog treats. It had fulfilled a long-held ambition of mine, to delve into the world of freeze-dried dog treats, and I was so happy to be able to fulfil it sooner than expected.

10 years ago, if you had told me the highlight of me turning 50 would be to own a gargantuan machine that is noisy AF, instead of a new Hermes bag that costs the same, I would have laughed. Give me that bag any day! 😀

Today, I am thrilled to take delivery of an industrial-sized meat grinder, and am lusting after a few bigger, newer machines instead, to continue growing the business; and we are working towards meeting that goal. So much of my life has changed in the past 5 years since the lockdowns began, and keeping up with beauty trends and new products has been low on my priority list.

I understand that so many of you have followed my writings over the years, because of our shared love for beauty, and at this point, I’m at peace with anyone who chooses to no longer keep up or check back in, because our interests no longer align. I have informed the brands who still stay in touch that I’m stepping back, and I am so very grateful for the relationships I’ve had, and the many wonderful people in the industry who has shown this aunty so much grace and given me so many opportunities.

Turning 50 has not been at all how I imagined it would be. I think I imagined it would be just like 40, but with more grey hair 😀 I never imagined it would involve this much raw meat, strange organs, and creating recipes. I never imagined I’d be writing this, because I honestly thought I’d be writing here forever 😀

If there is one thing I’ve learnt from this introspection, it’s this: That life evolves, and we evolve along with it, and we just never know where we might be from one moment to the next.

Thank you for joining me on my beauty journey, for all your emails, texts, and chats we’ve had in the comments and on Instagram. I am humbled by your support all through the past 17+ years. I don’t intend to stop writing, but it will be very sporadic and far in between. It is only fair to warn you of this 🙂

I guess I’ll see you when I see you.

xoxo

Minimalist Wardrobe Women – How to Start a Capsule Wardrobe

by Lina Clémence July 17, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Minimalist Wardrobe for Women – How to Start a Capsule Wardrobe in 6 Easy Steps.

Do you remember when you were a teen or in your early 20’s and wouldn’t be seen dead wearing the same outfit twice? That toxic gossip mag culture of shaming celebs for re-using a dress, somehow managed to seep through and made us all paranoid about our wardrobes!

These days my wardrobe philosophy couldn’t be any more different as last year I started to build a capsule wardrobe….and spoiler alert, it’s been the best fashion choice I’ve made in about a decade!

I’ve never been overly fashionable. In the past I tried to keep up with the latest fashion without actually knowing why, and attempted to wear ALL the different styles to stay ‘trendy’. But the truth is I’ve never felt confident in bodycon mini dresses or barely-there tops, I like wide leg trousers and cosy jumpers, shirts, jeans & trainers or a curvy tea dress. My style has always been simple, smart and comfortable which sometimes felt out of place.

But now, in my 30’s, I finally feel like I’m in my element with clothes. It’s like I’m exactly where I should be with my style and my capsule wardrobe has been a HUGE factor in that.

Let me talk you through how I made it happen!

Minimalist Wardrobe for Women – Capsule Wardrobe Style

What Is A Capsule Wardrobe?

A capsule wardrobe is a limited or smaller selection of interchangeable pieces that all complement each other and go together.

You should be able to create multiple outfits from the clothes in your wardrobe as they all fit together with ease in a multitude of different combinations. It means you can wear clothes again and again whilst creating totally different looks from the same items – genius!

How to Build a Capsule Wardrobe?

Ok, so I just need to state for the record that I’m no capsule wardrobe expert! But I’ve had so many messages on Instagram since I started sharing my daily looks asking me to write this post. This is what I personally did to start my capsule wardrobe journey…

Step 1: Have a Clear Out

I started by sorting through my current wardrobe…and I was brutal! Anything that I didn’t absolutely LOVE when I put it on, or anything that didn’t really fit my aesthetic or current body size went in the charity bag. It was tough to do, especially when it came to things that I’d only worn a few times (probably because I didn’t LOVE them when I bought them). I soon realised that you really do get a gut feeling about clothes at the beginning and that usually sticks.

Your clothes should fit you and your style NOT the other way round!

I kept anything that made me feel good and that fit well. There was no ‘oh I’ll fit into that soon’ or ‘I’ll keep that just in case’. I did a Marie Kondo and thanked everything before folding it neatly and sending it to a new home.

Step 2: Vinted

There were a few pieces in my ‘to go’ pile that were really good quality and had only been worn a few times too. I’ve started to buy higher quality items these days, but a lot of my older clothes are Primark jobs that really didn’t stand the test of time.

Anything I thought was decent I sold on Vinted to make a bit of extra cash for their replacements! It was my first time using the app and I loved the process. Snap a clear picture, upload the specs and just wait for it to sell. Buyer pays postage, the drop off points are super easy and the transactions are really quick. I made about £60 from doing that off of a handful of items which I was then able to use on a couple of new pieces for my capsule wardrobe.

Step 3: Find Inspiration

Next I went onto Instagram, YouTube and Pinterest to have a look at some of the people I like to follow for fashion stuff. (Try searching for ‘capsule wardrobe’ or ‘minimalist wardrobe for women’ to bring up the right posts and accounts). I started to pick out key shapes and pieces that were occurring again and again in their outfits.. From here I was able to work out that on top of my current clothes I personally wanted/needed:

  • A pair of blue straight leg jeans
  • Some black & neutral jumpers/cardigans
  • A white and neutral relaxed shirt
  • Some wide legged beige trousers
  • And some ribbed cami tops as basics

Those were the things that cropped up in most of the outfits (in one combination or another) that I felt really drawn to. I also researched starter items for a capsule wardrobe and came across lists like this as a great place to start:

  • Good fitting denim jeans
  • A skirt
  • Basic tshirts
  • Simple shirts
  • A pair of trousers
  • A couple of jumpers/cardigans
  • A neutral dress
  • A statement coat
  • A pair of Boots, Trainers and Heels

(Just adjust the style/fits/colours depending on your preferences.)

Step 4: Build your New Style

Next I ventured out onto the high street and online to try and find my new items that would form the base of my capsule wardrobe. I didn’t rush it and I only bought clothes that genuinely felt good, fit well and that I loved when I tried them on. If it didn’t work, I didn’t buy it and I carried on looking. I found it a lot simpler now that I had a list of specific items I was looking for and it was actually quite fun finding each piece at a time knowing it was going to work in multiple outfits!

Step 5: Organise your Rails

I then made sure my wardrobe was organised by item – trousers, jeans, skirts, dresses, shirts, tops, jumpers etc – but also by colour within those sections. This makes it easy to grab an item I need when building my looks eg. ‘I’m going to start with my jeans today and it’s not too cold so I’ll go for a black top and a cosy cardigan’. Just grab and go!

minimalist wardrobe women

Step 6: Continue to Mindfully Add

Once I’d got my basics I was able to mindfully add to my wardrobe as and when I felt like I needed something or if I saw something I REALLY liked. These days I buy better quality clothes but I buy a LOT less. When I’m in the shop or hovering over that checkout button I try to think – ‘will this go with multiple items in my collection?’ And ‘do I actually need it or do I already have something similar?’

It’s a work in progress but I have to say that I’m loving my style right now. I buy better quality bits that are timeless and last for years but I also don’t attach too much emotion to pieces these days. This means if it no longer makes me feel good, I don’t feel guilty for popping it on Vinted to sell (or donating it to charity) to make space for something better suited.

I hope his post was useful! I’ll try to update it as I get better at the whole capsule wardrobe thing and I’ll keep posting my outfits on Instagram too so make sure to come over and drop a follow @xameliax!

Who knows, I might be someone else’s capsule outfit inspiration one day!

5 Things Plus-Size Women Have Learned From Lizzo

by Lina Clémence July 14, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

I’ve been on a Lizzo kick lately. Obsessed, really. Truth be told, I can’t stop watching her TikTok.  I feel like I’m getting a consistently entertaining class on things plus-size women have learned from Lizzo.

Why, you ask? It’s because Lizzo has the attitude I wish plus-size women had had when I was growing up. She’s fierce, funny and anything BUT concerned what the world thinks.  I would have had a different childhood experience if I had been taught exactly what Lizzo is teaching the world …  that it’s ok to simply be yourself.

3 Halloween Costume/Cosplay Ideas for Black Women with Blonde Box Braids

by Lina Clémence July 14, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

2.1K

I am a HUGE fan of taking a “Black” spin on beloved media characters, whether it’s for Halloween or cosplay in general. And for me, this usually means using different coloured box braids over wig or just leaving my natural hair colour.

Back in 2021 I had the INCREDIBLY fun honour of partnering with Pinterest to bring some Halloween costume ideas to life, and I since I ended up capturing way more content than was needed… I thought I’d share more photos here, as well as some recommendations on how to make them yourself!

Full outfit breakdowns to come of each individual costume.

*Some of the links included in this post are affiliate links. This means, at no additional cost to you, if you click on them and make a purchase, I will make a small commission.*

3 Costume Ideas for Black women with Blonde Box Braids

When brainstorming what to be for halloween this year, I started by looking for characters with blonde hair–for the sole reason that I already had golden blonde box braids in.

So here is what I came up with:

1. Rapunzel

This one was a no-brainer. The moment I put in my blonde boxbraids, I knew I wanted to try to do a halloween costume inspired by Disney’s Rapunzel.

Like is there any better concept for long thick box braids?

I ordered the dress and corset from SHEIN (boo, I know.. this is before I knew better). And ran to the dollar store to pick out a varied selection of fake flowers to stick in my hair.

It’s funny, when I debuted this costume on TikTok people either…

Came at me for being… racist?

Or critiqued the fact that I was wearing the corset backwards… but Rapunzel in the movie has her ties in the front.. so I was just trying to emulate that the best I could.

I probably could have tied it better, but still. 😐

Disney's Rapunzel

2. Sailor Venus

A second no-brainer for me was dressing up as Sailor Venus… although it was a tie between her and Sailor Moon. In fact, it’s my goal to work my way through cosplaying all of the Sailor Scouts

This costume, I was quite proud of because I made most of it from scratch.

Items I purchased to bring this to life:

What I DIYed:

  • The Tiara made out of thick stock paper, Gold letter cut outs, and a plastic gems
  • Skirt and the cape (…Is it a cape?), using some shiny satin fabric I purchased at Michaels.
    • Skirt Instructions HERE (though I just safety pinned it together here).
    • Cape Instructions HERE
  • Love Chain, using red and gold beads from Michaels.

I didn’t take many pictures of the back, but you can see how I styled my box braids below, and a little tiny peek of the yellow bow.

3. Tinkerbell

Or… Mother Nature…. or Princess Tiana with Blonde Hair….

This costume was admittedly VERY low effort. I got the dress off SHEIN again, tied up my hair in a large bun, threw on a green head wrap to add a bit more *flavour*… and was good to go.

If I had been able to find some wings, I think the vision would have been much clearer…Because as it stood, no one really knew who I was trying to be. It’s giving a bit more of a Disney-Bounding vibe, more than anything.

But luckily we have Photoshop AI to help us out.. okay maybe AI has a ways to go…

Final Thoughts on my Blonde Box Braid Halloween Costumes

Did this help you gather any inspiration for your next Halloween costume or maybe your venture into cosplay?

I’m always on the hunt for good ideas for the future, so drop your recommendations below! Or perhaps, recommend a box braid colour, and I’ll see what costumes I can come up with!

Best Diamond Face Shape Hairstyles

When it comes to styling hair for a diamond face shape, the goal is to balance the narrow forehead and chin while highlighting the cheekbones, which are typically the widest part of this face shape. The best diamond face shape hairstyle accentuates your natural bone structure while softening sharp angles and creating harmony. One of the top choices is a layered cut that adds volume around the forehead and jawline, helping to create the illusion of a more balanced face. Side-swept bangs or fringe can also be flattering, as they soften the forehead and draw attention to the eyes. Hairstyles with waves or curls add softness and fullness around the chin area, which balances the sharpness of the cheekbones. For those who prefer longer hair, styles that tuck behind the ears or feature loose, face-framing layers work beautifully. If you’re thinking of going shorter, consider a chin-length bob or lob with subtle texturing to add width where needed without overwhelming your natural features. Ultimately, the best diamond face shape hairstyle is one that complements your unique features while enhancing your confidence—so feel free to experiment with these styles to find the perfect look for you!

The Story of the Dior Lipstick and the Famous Women Who Represented It

by Lina Clémence June 25, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

The giant fashion house of Christian Dior is a modern brand that boasts an incredible, rich fashion history and timeless designs. From its very beginning in Paris to its gradual expansion to the global level, Dior has never stopped surprising its customer with their magical collections and innovative approaches to fashion.

In 1955, Dior opened the Grande Boutique, a fancy boutique shop between Avenue Montaigne and Rue François ler. That year also marked the launch of the very first Dior lipstick. Ever since then, the company has never ceased to amaze women with their lipstick releases. Lipstick is one of those items that is undeniably feminine. Countless women of all nationalities, backgrounds, income levels and social status’ wear lipstick work, to feel pretty for their significant other, or just to feel good about themselves! Dior lipstick has become a household product because of its quality and long-lasting reliability to stay on your lips and keep you looking flawless for hours at a time.

Dior Addict Lipstick – Jennifer Lawrence & Kate Moss

Women who dream of the perfect shiny pout used to have to apply lipstick and then a second coat of gloss. Those days are gone, since Dior researchers claim to have invented the most ‘technologically advanced’ cosmetic product that meets the two needs at once.

Source

Launched in the fall of 2015, the Addict Lipstick soon became one of the best sellers of this make-up giant, Dior. The collection presents a line of lip gloss within a standard lipstick. The result is a shiny, moisturizing gel core that combines with a traditional lipstick outer layer. The application is simple and satisfying.

Adding 35 shades to the Dior lipstick line, Jennifer Lawrence was featured as the headliner of the campaign and the basic price started at £26.50 in Britain. According to Dior experts, they spent about 12 months in the laboratory trying to perfect the two separate formulas that make up the final product that is available for purchase. When you apply it on your lips, the moisturizing hydra gel core melts into the more traditional lipstick outer layer and leaves you with a super glossy look.

Dior says the lipstick features a fluidity that ensures you can easily glide it onto the lips. In other words, this was the first time when women were finally able to save money and time by buying a single cosmetic product instead of two (a lipstick and a gloss).

According to the trials conducted on 30 women in 2015, around three quarters said they were happy with how their lips softer and seemed more voluminous after four weeks of regular use.

Dior Rouge Lipstick – Natalie Portman & Monica Bellucci

The first formula for Dior Rouge Lipstick was launched in 2006, with Monica Bellucci as the face of the collection. The sultry Italian model and actress promoted Rouge Dior as a long-lasting, smooth lipstick. The ingredients are meant to moisturize, soothe, and protect your lips with a creamy and soft texture.

The Rouge line promises maximum comfort for all women. Meanwhile, the 2006 collection seemed to offer an endless range of trendy and creative colors that made it incredibly easy to find the ideal lip shade. But things got even better last year, when Dior decided it was time for a do-over.

Source

So, in 2016, Dior released a new formula for Dior Rouge Lipstick. The revamped collection brought 35 luxe satin and 15 long-wearing matte formulas launched in five different categories of shades. By now you’re probably familiar with “Iconic Reds,” “Natural Nudes,” “Stunning Pinks,” “Splendid Corals,” and the street-style “Extreme Mattes.”

One of the best things about the new collection was the fact that #999 made a comeback in a pure matte finish. This lipstick is the modern reincarnation of Christian Dior’s original and oh-so-iconic #9 shade, which took color cues from the designer’s red couture dresses.

The new formula introduced 32 couture signature shades, providing your lips with full coverage and a superb satin finish. The innovative collection also boasted the addition of a marine crista extract that encourages cellular renewal, as well as hyaluronic acid for the plump feeling and moisturizing of the lips.

Dior’s Newest Lip Stain

In 2018, Dior launched a new line of lip stains, called the Rouge Dior Ultra Rouge lip stains. This is a lipstick that becomes a lip stain as you wear it. It is described as a “weightless, colored film” on your lips, and has a semi-matte finish. This will give you decent coverage without leaving your lips feeling dry or heavy.

This formula is much like an overprint, and is as close as you could get to tattooing your lips without actually tattooing your lips.

There are currently 25 shades available in the Ultra Rouge lipsticks, ranging from a soft nude to an orange tone to a bright pink.

Additionally, there are 12 shades of Rouge Dior Ink Liners. These are liquid lip liners that can be used under lipstick or on their own.

Finally, to round out the collection, there were two new nail polish shades released as part of the Dior Rouge Ultra Rouge line.

Sixty Decades of Dressing Women’s Smiles

Christian Dior opened its doors many decades ago and it’s not surprising lipstick was the first beauty product he created. The stand out shade in the collection is, evidently, [easyazon_link identifier=”B01M0SKDTD” locale=”US” tag=”luxauthority-20″]#999[/easyazon_link] (which Natalie Portman sports in both of the pictures). Dior No. 999 is the star of the collection. This lipstick got its code from the first red shades created by the label – the number 9 and the number 99.

Known as “The Dior Red”, [easyazon_link identifier=”B01KYQIVG4″ locale=”US” tag=”luxauthority-20″]this shade[/easyazon_link] is said to be the right kind of red shade, one that every woman can wear. And when you see Natalie Portman’s glam, you really start to believe it can be true. The weight and the creaminess of the new formula is what impressed thousands of women so far.

You might think you’re not a “red” person, but this shade is truly wearable. It looks slightly different on each woman (depending on skin tone) and it’s highly versatile. You can wear in various ways, such as full-on color out of the tube, or a little dab for a lighter, more “stained” look. You can even combine it with a light touch of clear gloss or Dior Lip Maximizer.

It works perfectly with most shades and suits pretty much all skin tones. The solid pink gives you a natural shine without appearing overdone. The creamy texture is also quite satisfying and it allows the lipstick to spread easily and evenly. The #671 shade is luxurious, richly pigmented and highly hydrating. Lip treatment sounds fancy, but so does Christian Dior. This slightly nude shade steps off the beaten path of the red couture and it does it in style. Everything about the hues spells “soft” and “glamorous,” allowing your lips to look lighter and vibrant. If you use it right, the shade will make your entire face look youthful and illuminated. Thanks to its high moisture content, the lip treatment is suitable for regular use.

Because Representation Matters: Celebrating Signed Blake Amazon Drop and more dark skin women in fashion.

Not to say the fashion industry has been given a bad rap for their unrealistic expectation of beauty, and rightfully so.  If you are following fashion, you may have noticed how brands of all price points have begin changing the standard and making new efforts to represent black influencers and models.

From magazine covers to commercials and campaigns, the familiar thread of models or influencers with similar build, ethnicity, and age still reflects the industry’s so-called norm. And while the increased presence of black influencers in fashion has generally constituted a positive change, there are still many issues on the forefront concerning the representation of dark skin women in fashion.

Today myself and a few friends celebrate and support Chicago lawyer and content creator, Blake Gifford of Signed, Blake. The recent drop of her curated collection on Amazon’s The Drop features a beautiful pallet of fall florals and texture perfect for the early spring to fall transition. With that in mind, it is always exciting to see wins come down the pipeline for the women who have made the industry notice them for their phenomenal taste in fashion and style.

21 On-Point Diamond Face Shape Hairstyles for Women

by Lina Clémence June 12, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

The diamond-shaped face has very pronounced and memorable facial features. Therefore, choosing the right haircut and styling for a diamond face shape is not so easy and rather responsible. To facilitate this process and reduce the time of choice we have selected twenty-one best hairstyles for diamond faces. You can find hairstyle ideas with different styling options, lengths, colors, and structures.

Recognizing a Diamond Face Shape

The diamond face shape has more angular features than an oval shape. Bright features of a diamond face shape are: high cheekbones, a narrow and pointed chin, and also a narrow jawline, and the hairline tends to come to a more angular point. In this case, your face is longer than it is wide.

Why Certain Hairstyles Compliment a Diamond Face

Different lengths, structures, and styling of hair differently play with any face shape and diamond shape is not an exception. As a rule, long wavy or straight hair softens the angular features of the diamond shape of the face. Short and flattering, structured haircuts emphasize the cheekbones and jaw. The styling of bangs helps to hide the flick of a small or large forehead.

Hairstyles for a Diamond-Shaped Face

If you follow this guide with hairstyles for diamond shape faces and pick a couple of options to your liking, you’ll spare yourself from the burden of trying to balance out the face where the cheekbones stand out, and the chin is too narrow. We’ve done everything for you: just explore the gallery and save your top picks:

Updo With Side-Swept Bangs

@hairupbydevonne

How to highlight the facial features as much as possible? Gather the hair and open the face, leaving a small detail in the form of side-swept bangs, as in the photo. Side-swept bangs don’t only finish the look but also visually elongate a narrow forehead. You can make a smaller bun and then this hairstyle for a diamond-shaped face will be more casual. Or, for a formal event, make the same voluminous bun and complement it with hair accessories.

Chin length Bob

Chin length Bob

@firriolo_andrea

Blunt bob cuts suit not only a diamond face shape but also an oval face shape. Even though the paradigm of “long hair – femininity” is going away becoming a relic of the past, girls still more often choose to have long hair. So, short hairstyles are definitely about emphasizing a personal style. And to add more playfulness to the look, make soft curls like in the photo. The length of your bob will always be at the level of your chin, you need to go for a trim at least once a month, but the procedure doesn’t take much time. Also, you’d better avoid a middle parting and shift it at least a bit to the side.

Layered Medium Length Cut with Blunt Bangs

Layered Medium Length Cut with Blunt Bangs

@mary.luxhairandbeauty

The layered haircut is versatile and suits almost all face shapes. The diamond-shaped face is no exception. And let’s be honest. What could be better than face-framing layers to draw attention to your beautiful features? To create such voluminous ends of hair, you need to use a hair dryer and a brush, the diameter of which is suitable for your hair length. Don’t be scared, it’s not difficult at all, watch a few tutorials and with each attempt, everything will come out easier and faster, even with long layers.

Wavy Locks Balayage

Wavy Locks Balayage

@hairby_jodiex

Loose waves and balayage are among the best hairstyles for diamond face shapes. Oh my god, that’s such a good match. Reflecting the sun’s rays, this hairstyle will be perfect for a warm summer day. But don’t be in a hurry to re-colour and straighten your wavy hair when autumn comes. This hairstyle for a diamond-shaped face will also be a ray of light in the gloomy days of fall. The moment when it is not necessary to cut layers to emphasize the features of the face, in this case, this role is played by the face-framing highlights.

Cropped Pixie Cut

Cropped Pixie Cut

@jannat.mehmood_

How to draw attention to what an unusual style you have? Make a pixie cut, of course. It is bold, feminine, daring and easy-going. The pixie cut will show all the angular features of the diamond-shaped face, emphasizing the pointed chin and the gorgeous cheekbones. This haircut is as easy as possible to style but requires regular visits to the hairdresser to maintain the length. An overgrown pixie looks very sloppy.

Cascading Curls

Cascading Curls

@linzdelauderhair

At first glance, this is a straightforward hairstyle, but it will brighten up your overall appearance. You can have natural curls or create wavy hair with styling, it is not so important. The main accent of this haircut is the cascade at the face, the long layers of which make this hairstyle for a diamond-shape face so voluminous, light, and bright at the same time.

Long, Soft Curls

Long, Soft Curls

@thelittlegypsysalon

A perfect hairstyle for any occasion. A day at the office, a meeting with friends, a date, or a family party. This hairstyle for a diamond face shape is suitable for every event. If you have thick straight hair, which is more difficult to curl, use a flat iron and hair-fixing products. Try to make curls about the same width. And if you are the winner gifted with natural curls, try the “curly method” for more resistant twists.

Soft Side-swept bangs

Soft Side-swept bangs

@otakucrystal

Soft side swept bangs are a great way to slightly elongate a narrow forehead. We can compare this haircut for diamond-shaped faces to a play in the theatre, where the side swept bangs play the main role and the textured layers are secondary, but not less important. And all this cast is created to frame your beautiful diamond-shaped face.

Side-Parted Lob With Face-Framing Bangs

Side-Parted Lob With Face-Framing Bangs

@savi_textures

This hairstyle for a diamond-shaped face looks simple at first glance, but the side bangs and deep side parting will make you stand out from the crowd. The face-framing bangs look like a flattering frame and seem to highlight the prominent features of your diamond face shape. Sometimes, bangs swept like this can get in the way when doing a routine, but that’s no reason not to get this haircut. Keep a few hair clips nearby in case you need to remove them off the face for a while.

Volumized Curly Lob With Bangs

Volumized Curly Lob With Bangs

@hair_georgedivision

Bold, stylish and unusual – that’s all about hairstyles for diamond-shaped faces like this. It’s the ultimate fashion statement in your look. A great way to stylize natural curls – a mixture of shoulder-length hair and curly bangs. But be careful such blunt bangs are more suitable for those with a broad forehead.

Chin-Length Bob with Wispy Bangs

Chin-Length Bob with Wispy Bangs

@yumemidreams

You will agree that blunt bob cuts are very cute. And a bob with wispy bangs is twice as cute. Such a hairstyle is more suitable for girls with diamond-shaped faces but with a type of baby face. Here, short hair frames the narrow jawline, and bangs play for a narrow forehead.

Long and Curly With Side Part

Long and Curly With Side Part

@oliviascanu

Curly, long hair is such a rare and perfect beauty. Of course, in such a case you need special hair care and more time for styling. But curly girls, we swear, you have won the genetic lottery. And if you have wavy and porous hair, try the “curl method” (there is a lot of information about this on the Internet). You may have the same beautiful curls as a variation of the best hairstyles for diamond faces.

Wavy Shag With Fringe

Wavy Shag With Fringe

@wavysoulhair

Shag haircut belongs to flattering haircuts and is suitable for both diamond-shaped face and oval face shape. A soft fringe is an essential part of the sheg haircut and it gives the image a finished look. You can try this haircut without hair coloring or experiment with color, as shown in the picture.

Long and Tousled With Middle Part

Long and Tousled With Middle Part

@tousledhair

Long twists with a middle part are probably the most popular hairstyle. And this hairstyle will soon become the record holder in terms of long-term relevance. It hasn’t lost popularity since the early 2000s, amazingly.

Short Shag with Fringe

Short Shag with Fringe

@jessi_cosmicrevival

If you have a fine hair texture and a narrow hairline, a short shag haircut is ideal for the sharp features of the diamond face. Short textured layers create extra volume, and the short hair length is easy and quick to style. The only thing is that such a haircut for a diamond face shape requires regular trimming.

Long Bob with Deep Side Parting

Long Bob with Deep Side Parting

@longbobcorte

Short hairstyles are perfect for those who have thick straight hair because with this hair structure, the shape of the short haircut will last all day. The deep side part gives this image more mystery, and the strands for the most part brightly emphasize the diamond face shape features, especially high cheekbones.

Trendy Bixie Cut

Trendy Bixie Cut

@katjacatwork

The bixie haircut is something new and not yet very well known to the general audience, but it’s already becoming a trend. We can also call it a pixie bob. It looks like a mixture of these two great haircuts, doesn’t it? It’s the result of a successful experiment and it was worth it. Just look at how well it emphasizes all the angular features of the diamond-shaped face, especially the prominent cheekbones and narrow chin.

French Bob with Long Bangs

French Bob with Long Bangs

@katjacatwork

Megan Fox style – bold and sexy. For this haircut, it is better to have a narrower forehead, but by experimenting with the length and density of bangs you can make such a variant of short haircut and for a wide forehead. Keep it in mind that the neat appearance of bangs and the length of the bob should be constantly trimmed at the hair master. You should also consult with your mother about the bangs. Such bangs will not suit all the diamond face shapes, maybe they will choose a slightly different option for you.

Messy Hairstyle for Diamond Faces

Messy Hairstyle for Diamond Faces

@bashirova_hairstyle

Look at those gorgeous cheekbones and how cool a messy haircut accentuates them. Messy wavy hair, long layers and a side parting, well very hot. A messy haircut for long hair is the ultimate in naturalistic fun. This hairstyle is the most universal and will fit exactly not only diamond-shaped face. It is also suitable for girls with any width of the forehead and chin.

A Slicked-Back Chin-Length Bob

A Slicked-Back Chin-Length Bob

@gabrielasussman

Another way to style a bob. This option is not often seen in everyday life, but for a special event, it is perfect. Imagine how beautiful your diamond-shaped face will look with this hairstyle. You can fix it with hair-fixing products or use small hair clips in the back.

Styling tips for diamond face shapes

Emphasize your eyes. Draw attention to your beautiful eyes by using different makeup techniques. This helps to shift the focus upwards and balance out the wide-set cheekbones.

Smooth-out angles: add loose curls or waves to your hairstyle to add femininity and gentleness to your look. A side parting or hairstyle with asymmetry or a slicked-back look can balance the appearance of the cheekbones and create a more balanced frame for the diamond face shapes.

Layers that frame the face: layers around the prominent cheekbones can add volume and create a more balanced look. Face-framing layers smooth corners and draw attention to the centre of the face, highlighting the total beauty of diamond-shaped faces.

FAQs

  • What hairstyles to avoid with a diamond face shape?

Although diamond-shaped faces are suitable for many hairstyles, there are still some hairstyles that you should avoid. But that doesn’t mean that the haircuts listed below won’t work for a diamond-shaped face. You can also choose them, but it’s best to consult your hair stylist before you do. So: 1) Blunt bob hairstyles are often unsuitable for a diamond-shaped face. A blunt bob with straight, jaw-length strands can draw attention to the angle of the lower jaw and the width of the cheekbones, giving the face a square, soft look; 2) Center parted hair. The flaws of a diamond-shaped face, such as the width of the cheekbones and a sharp chin, can be emphasized with a centre-parted haircut, which will make the whole face more angular. 3) Long or straight bangs that extend to the eyebrows may not suit a diamond-shaped face. Full bangs can visually expand the forehead and at the same time emphasize the narrow chin line.

  • Are diamond-shaped faces attractive?

Yes, a diamond-shaped face is recognized as an attractive face shape. Celebrities like Megan Fox, Christy Turlington, Rihanna and Angelina Jolie are perfect examples of this face shape. And they’re all insanely beautiful, aren’t they? This unique facial structure gives people with a diamond shape face a sophisticated, exotic or even royal look. People with diamond faces are really rarely left without attention to their beauty, and a suitable haircut only emphasizes it.

  • Is layered hair good for a diamond face?

Facial framing layers starting at the chin look great on diamond-shaped faces. The reason for this is that layers soften a strong chin and jawline. Layers will also add movement and volume to the hair, giving an overall softer look. Also, layers give ordinary hairstyles a more interesting and unusual style. When you go to a hair stylist ask them to match you with the thickness and length of layers that will suit you. And don’t hesitate to ask for some tips on styling your new hairstyle at home.

Bottom Line

Maybe, choosing a haircut for a diamond-shaped face is not such a simple process. But the variety of options of hairstyles for diamond face, presented above, will not leave you indifferent. Be bold, don’t be afraid to experiment with the length or color of your hair, or stick to what you’re confident in – it doesn’t matter. You can show this guide to your hair stylist and they will help you choose the best haircut for a diamond-shaped face for you. And remember, you have a beautiful diamond face and you are gorgeous with any haircut, any hair color, any hair length, and any styling. Amen!

5 Problems Women Face in Their Weight Loss Journey

by Lina Clémence June 11, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

It’s a fact that men tend to lose weight faster than women because they have more muscle mass, which helps burn calories faster. Additionally, women’s hormones play a significant role in weight gain and loss. We do know that women encounter a lot of issues that can slow down weight loss, but the good news is that most of these can be changed with just a little bit of effort. In this post, we talk in detail about 5 Problems Women Face in Their Weight Loss Journey and how these can be changed.

Amazing Weight Loss Tips For Women

1. Hormonal Fluctuations:

Women’s hormones play a crucial role in weight management. Estrogen is linked to fat storage, especially around the hips and thighs, and its fluctuations can increase appetite and slow down metabolism. Progesterone levels rise during the latter part of the menstrual cycle and pregnancy, causing temporary weight gain due to increased water retention and appetite. Also insulin, which regulates blood sugar levels, can affect fat storage, posing challenges for women with insulin resistance when trying to lose weight. Additionally, thyroid hormones (T3 and T4) control metabolism, and imbalances can result in weight gain or hinder weight loss efforts. These hormonal imbalances can be managed by maintaining a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean protein, and whole grains can help stabilize blood sugar levels and support hormone balance. You can find such weight loss diets on the Rati Beauty diet plan. Download the Rati Beauty app for more details. Needless to mention, regular exercise can improve metabolism and aid in weight loss. Most importantly, do not forget to consult with a certified doctor to address any hormonal imbalances.

2. PCOD/Insulin Resistance:

PCOD (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) and insulin resistance can make it really tough for women to lose weight. When your body becomes insulin resistant, it struggles to turn sugar into energy, so it stores more fat instead. This makes it harder to shed extra pounds because your body is holding onto fat instead of burning it for fuel. So, even if you’re eating right and exercising, it can still be really challenging to lose weight when you have PCOD or insulin resistance. Managing PCOD and insulin resistance involves lifestyle changes and medical interventions. Switch to a healthy diet, cutting down sugar, refined carbs, and including foods rich in fiber, lean protein, and healthy fats. Regular exercise, even if it’s brisk walking can improve insulin sensitivity. Most importantly, consulting with a doctor to develop a personalized treatment plan is essential to treat PCOD and reverse insulin resistance.

3. Chronic Stress:

Let’s face it – juggling between life and work can put women under a lot of stress. Cortisol, which is also called the stress hormone, can go out of whack with chronic stress. Cortisol can make you feel hungry, increase cravings for unhealthy food and sugar, and facilitate storage of fat, mostly around your belly. When you’re constantly stressed, your body releases more cortisol, and if this happens a lot, it can lead to extra fat in your tummy area. That’s why many women struggle with belly fat, especially when they’re feeling stressed out. To fight stress and support weight loss, women may practice relaxation methods like deep breathing or yoga. Engaging in regular physical activity, such as walking, dancing, or cycling, can also reduce stress and boost mood. Additionally, seeking social support from friends, family, or support groups can provide encouragement and help manage stress. Indulging in hobbies can also distract from stressors and promote overall well-being. Also read: “5 Main Reasons For Belly Fat in Women.”

4. Leptin and Ghrelin Imbalance:

Leptin and ghrelin are like little messengers in your body that control your hunger and fullness. When they’re not balanced, it can be tough to lose weight. Leptin tells your brain when you’re full, but if you have too much body fat, your brain might not listen to it as well, so you keep feeling hungry. Ghrelin, on the other hand, tells your brain when you’re hungry. If you have too much ghrelin or your body doesn’t respond to it like it should, you might feel hungry all the time, even when you don’t need to eat. So, when these hormones are out of whack, it can mess up your appetite signals and make it harder to stick to a healthy eating plan and lose weight. Cutting out sugar, processed food and switching to a healthy diet can bring the leptin-ghrelin hormones into balance.

5. Not Finding Enough Time For Sleep and Rest:

Achieving work-life balance can be tougher for women, and this struggle can contribute to weight gain. Women often juggle multiple responsibilities, including work and household duties. Balancing these demands can leave little time and energy for self-care activities like exercise and meal preparation. Additionally, a lot of women prioritize others’ needs over their own well-being. Stress from trying to manage it all can lead to emotional eating and disrupted sleep patterns, both of which can contribute to weight gain over time. Furthermore, workplace environments may lack support for working mothers, such as flexible schedules or childcare assistance, making it even more challenging to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Do make yourself a priority and find time to rest and rejuvenate and construct a sleep routine which gives you at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night. Just by making this change, you would see a major change in your weight loss game.

Write an title about: Purple Clothing Was Once Forbidden – Here’s How to Wear it Like a Queen – Fashion For Real Women

by Lina Clémence June 3, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

rewrite this content and keep HTML tags as is:

During Easter break 1856, 18 year old William Henry Perkin stumbled across a way to make synthetic purple dye.

A student at the Royal College of Chemistry, he’d set up a crude lab in his apartment so he could continue his research during the break.

His goal?

To create synthetic quinine.

Quinine had been used to treat malaria for centuries.  But since it was derived from a tree that only grows in Peru, it was labor-intensive and costly to produce.  Industrial England demanded a cheaper alternative.

After one of his experiments, Perkin was cleaning the lab beaker with rubbing alcohol when he noticed a purple residue.  As a chemist who also dabbled in painting, he was immediately intrigued.

The new color, which he called mauvine, launched the synthetic dye industry – and brought the “color of kings” to the masses.

These days, it’s one of the most popular clothing colors, particularly for women.
