Worth It or Just Meh? – Beautiful With Brains

by Lina Clémence August 4, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

If you’ve ever gone down a rabbit hole of dermasil lotion reviews, you’ve probably seen the same thing over and over: people either swearing by it as their dry-skin savior or writing it off as just another dollar tree store gimmick. So, naturally, I had to find out for myself. I grabbed the Dermasil Dry Skin Treatment Body Lotion, slathered it on for a few weeks, and now I’ve got thoughts: lots of them. Let’s get into it.

Key Ingredients in the Dermasil Dry Skin Treatment Body Lotion: What Makes It Work?

DIMETHICONE

If you’ve ever put something on your skin and thought, “Whoa, why does my arm suddenly feel like a baby’s cheek?” – it was probably dimethicone doing its thing. This ingredient is basically your skin’s temporary smooth-talking best friend. It doesn’t fix the dryness underneath, but it gives you that velvety, soft, almost filtered feeling instantly.

What it really does is act like a shield. A very breathable, very lightweight shield that keeps water from evaporating while protecting your skin from the junk outside (wind, cold, pollution, whatever). It’s not sticky. It’s not greasy. It just gives your skin that healthy, moisturized finish without any drama. And if your skin is feeling rough or tight, this stuff makes it feel “normal” again – like you didn’t just lose a battle with the central heating.

PETROLEUM JELLY

Let’s be real: petroleum jelly isn’t glamorous. It’s not light, it’s not trendy, and it definitely doesn’t make you feel like you’re in a chic Parisian pharmacy. But when your skin is cracked, raw, or so dry it physically hurts to move? This stuff becomes your best friend. It’s like slapping a security guard on your skin. No water’s getting out, no irritation’s getting in, and everything underneath finally gets a chance to chill out and repair itself. It doesn’t just hydrate. It locks in whatever hydration you gave it with a serious “don’t even think about leaving” energy.

In this lotion, it gives the whole formula some backbone. You’ll feel it. That instant, buttery layer that doesn’t vanish in two seconds? That’s the petrolatum doing what it does best: sealing everything in and giving your skin a chance to actually heal. It’s thick, but not sticky. Protective, but not suffocating. If your sensitive skin is screaming? This is the ingredient that shows up with snacks, a blanket, and tells your skin to lie down and rest.

MINERAL OIL

Look, mineral oil isn’t sexy. You’re not going to see influencers raving about it on TikTok with dewy filters and a cute voiceover. But if you’ve got dry, cracked, irritated skin and you actually want something that works instead of just smelling nice and vanishing in 10 seconds? This is the stuff. It’s basic, yeah. But basic like bread and water when you’ve been starving.

It doesn’t pretend to do ten things at once. It just seals everything in, softens your skin, and keeps the good stuff (like glycerin and oils) from evaporating the second you step outside. In this lotion, mineral oil is the glue that holds it all together. It makes the whole thing feel richer, smoother, more comforting. You’re not gonna get glow or glam, but you will get skin that doesn’t feel like it’s about to flake off in sheets. And sometimes that’s all you need.

The Rest Of The Formula & Ingredients

NOTE: The colours indicate the effectiveness of an ingredient. It is ILLEGAL to put toxic and harmful ingredients in skincare products.

  • Green: It’s effective, proven to work, and helps the product do the best possible job for your skin.
  • Yellow: There’s not much proof it works (at least, yet).
  • Red: What is this doing here?!
  • Glycerin: A moisture magnet. Pulls water into your skin so you don’t dry out five minutes after applying.
  • Sunflower Seed Oil: Lightweight, soothing, and packed with fatty acids that help repair your skin barrier.
  • Geranium Oil: Mainly here for the scent. It can irritate sensitive skin.
  • Borago Officinalis Seed Oil: Great for really dry, sensitive skin. Helps reduce redness and smooth rough patches.
  • Cholesterol: Sounds weird, but your skin actually needs this. Helps keep your barrier strong and resilient.
  • Lecithin: A skin-softening ingredient that helps hold moisture in and makes everything feel more luxe.
  • Sweet Almond Oil: Gentle, nourishing, and great for softening dry or flaky spots.
  • Sandalwood Oil: Smells nice, but can cause irritations in sensitive skin.
  • Rose Water: Lightly hydrating with a soft floral scent. Makes things feel a bit more pampering.
  • Vanilla Fruit Extract: All about the scent. Sweet, soft, and gives the lotion a cozy finish.

Struggling to put together a skincare routine that banishes dryness and makes your skin supple and dewy? Download your FREE “Best Skincare Routine For Dry Skin” to get started (it features product recommendations + right application order):

Texture

Thick, but not greasy. It comes out creamy and dense, but spreads easily and sinks in within a minute or two. You won’t be slipping off your chair or feeling sticky for hours. For winter skin or those dry AF elbows? Chef’s kiss. But if you’re oily or live in a hot climate, it might feel a bit too rich.

Fragrance

Technically it’s “fragrance-free” but… that’s kind of BS. There’s no “parfum” listed, sure, but it’s loaded with essential oils like geranium and sandalwood, which are scented and can be irritating. So if you’re expecting a truly scentless, sensitive-skin-safe lotion, this ain’t it. The smell itself isn’t strong-, t’s more like a faint whiff of “plant stuff and vanilla that sat in a drawer too long.” Not gross, just… there. It fades fast, but if your skin hates essential oils? You’ll probably feel it before you smell it.

How To Use It

There’s no 12-step routine here. You just slap it on when your skin feels dry – preferably right after a shower when your body’s still a little damp and confused about what season it’s in.

It goes on thick, spreads easy, and a little actually does go a long way. Start small or you’ll end up feeling like you fell into a tub of margarine. Elbows, knees, legs, hands… go wild. You can even use it on your face if you’re dry and not acne-prone, though fair warning: this stuff is not lightweight. It’s one of those lotions that works best when you don’t overthink it. Chuck it in your gym bag, your nightstand, your car door… whatever. It’s a slap-and-go kinda product.

Packaging

It looks… fine. Like, if packaging awards existed, this wouldn’t be nominated. But honestly? It does exactly what it needs to. The squeeze bottle is sturdy, the flip cap isn’t annoying, and you can use it half-asleep without spilling it everywhere. No pumps that stop working halfway through. No heavy glass jars you’re afraid to drop. No double-sealed nightmare situation that makes you want to give up before you even open it. Just straightforward, basic, toss-it-in-your-bag-and-go kind of packaging. Not cute enough for shelfies, but who cares. It’s $3 and it works.

Performance & Personal Opinion

Honestly? This lotion does exactly what it says it’ll do: keep your skin from falling apart when it’s dry, pissed off, or just plain over it. It’s not trying to be fancy, it’s not giving you glow or firming or brightening or any of that marketing fluff. It just slaps a protective, hydrating layer on your skin and tells it to chill. I used it on my legs after shaving, on my hands after washing dishes, on my arms when they started flaking in winter – and every time, my skin felt instantly better. Not softer in a luxury way. Softer in a “okay, I’m not itchy anymore” way. That’s the vibe. Like, it fixes the problem so you can stop scratching and move on with your life.

The texture is rich but not suffocating. It takes maybe a minute or two to sink in, but once it does, you’re not sticky or slimy. Just… moisturized. Comfortable. Normal. And if you’ve ever dealt with eczema, windburn, or the kind of dryness that makes your jeans feel like sandpaper – you know how underrated “normal” can feel.

That said, don’t expect miracles. It’s not going to give you dewy model skin. It’s not going to transform your texture or tone. And it definitely doesn’t layer well with actives or anything fancy. This is a basic, no-BS, dry skin fixer, not a glow serum in disguise. But for the price? It holds its own. If you stripped the label off and told me this came from a fancy French pharmacy, I’d probably believe you. Until I saw the $3 price tag – and then I’d buy two.

What I Like About Dermasil Dry Skin Treatment Body Lotion

  • It’s stupid cheap. Like, cheaper than your coffee. And somehow still does more for your skin than half the expensive stuff.
  • Actually helps when your skin feels dry, tight, or straight-up angry.
  • Thick enough to feel like it’s doing something, but not so greasy that you’re stuck doing the T-Rex arms for an hour waiting for it to dry.
  • Doesn’t sting, doesn’t burn, doesn’t trigger weird breakouts. Sensitive-skin friendly-ish (unless you hate essential oils-then skip it).
  • Makes dry patches chill out fast. Like, one use and the flakiness is gone kind of fast.
  • It’s the kind of product you can throw in your car, your gym bag, your nightstand and it always comes through.

What I Don’t Like About Dermasil Dry Skin Treatment Body Lotion

  • Let’s not pretend it’s fancy. There’s no glow. No bells, no whistles. Just hydration. If you want skincare with vibes, this ain’t it.
  • That whole “fragrance-free” label? Kinda shady. It’s got enough essential oils to annoy sensitive skin.
  • Not face-friendly for everyone. If you’re oily or acne-prone, this might feel like too much.
  • You’ll feel it sitting on your skin for a minute. It doesn’t just disappear. You’ll know you put something on.
  • It’s all barrier repair and no “extras.” No antioxidants, no actives, no long-term skin upgrade.

Who Should Use This?

  • If your skin is dry enough to crack, flake, or feel like it belongs to someone else-this is for you.
  • If you’ve got eczema, rough hands, post-shave sting, winter skin sadness-again, for you.
  • If you’re broke, tired, and just want something that works without paying £20 for it, grab this.
  • If you’ve overcomplicated your routine and just want something basic that won’t betray you.

Does Dermasil Dry Skin Treatment Body Lotion Live Up To Its Claims?

CLAIM TRUE?
Specially formulated with one percent dimethicone which helps to create a barrier on the skin to lock in moisture and protect against irritation.  True.

Price & Availability

$9.99 (pack) at Target and Walmart

The Verdict: Should You Buy It?

If your skin’s dry and you’re not trying to drop £20 on something that smells like coconut and does nothing, yes, grab it. It’s not cute, it’s not trendy, but it works. Slap it on, move on with your life. For the price, honestly, it’s kind of a no-brainer. Unless you have sensitive skin that reacts bad to fragrance, obvs.

FreeShipping.com Review: Is This Paid Cash Back / Rebate Program Worth It?

by Lina Clémence July 13, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

Thank you to FreeShipping.com for sponsoring this post and providing a trial membership so I can share my experience. All opinions are my own.

FreeShipping.com is a paid subscription offering cash back and rebates on online purchases. I have been a member since early May and am sharing my experience so you can decide if FreeShipping.com is right for you.

Here’s the overview: I have earned almost $175 from FreeShipping.com in less than two months. At this rate, the savings I’ve earned just about cover the annual cost of a membership. This is a membership worth keeping.

Your earnings potential will depend on your shopping habits. Dive into the program details below to learn more.

What is FreeShipping.com?

Source: Canva.

With FreeShipping.com, you can earn at least 10% cash back on online purchases made through more than 1,000 retailers on the FreeShipping.com network. You can also earn rebates on shipping charges, return shipping charges, food delivery fees, and price decreases that happen after your purchase.

How much you can earn

The maximum annual earnings by category are:

  • Online cash back: $1,000
  • Shipping rebates: $500
  • Return shipping rebates: $500
  • Food delivery rebates: $250
  • Price protection rebates: $1,000

Those add up to a total earnings potential of $3,250 annually.

Cost of membership

FreeShipping.com’s membership price is $19 monthly or $228 annually—about 7% of the $3,250 earnings potential.

When and how you get paid

Your earnings accumulate monthly, and you receive payouts by the 15th of the following month. You can choose to receive payouts to PayPal or mailed check. PayPal is the faster option since no mailing is required.

I received my first PayPal payout on June 11 for cash back and rebates earned in May. No fees were deducted from my payment, so I received the exact amount earned in the prior month.

My FreeShipping.com earnings

In May, the first month of my membership, I earned $119 from 10% cash back on four purchases plus two rebates. Here’s the May breakdown, followed by an explanation of my transactions:

  1.       $241.91 purchase from Chewy.com
  2.       $83.94 purchase from Gap
  3.       $671.14 purchase from EyeBuyDirect
  4.       $73.95 purchase from Horse.com
  5.       $7.99 shipping rebate from Horse.com
  6.       $3.92 food delivery rebate from GrubHub

EyeBuyDirect

More than half of the month’s earnings came from the EyeBuyDirect transaction for two pairs of prescription glasses. This is not a purchase I make regularly, so it’s logical to assume my future monthly earnings will be much lower.

Chewy and Horse.com

I will make additional Chewy and Horse.com purchases going forward, though it may not be monthly. I own two horses and a dog that are regularly in need of supplies and supplements. One point to note here is that FreeShipping.com cannot track auto-ship purchases. If you want to earn cash back, you have to click through to the merchant from FreeShipping.com for each new purchase.

Gap

The Gap purchase was to update my summer wardrobe with two modern tops. I shop at Gap often because the clothes have classic, easy styling and the sales are fabulous.

Grubhub

I don’t often have food delivered because it feels indulgent and expensive. But alas, now that I get reimbursed for the service fees and I have a free GrubHub membership courtesy of Amazon Prime, food delivery seems far more appealing. Already in June, I have ordered another GrubHub meal and requested a second FreeShipping.com food delivery rebate.

June earnings

My second-month earnings with FreeShipping.com are still in process, but here’s where my account stands now:

  1.       Chewy.com purchase of $68.93 for more horse stuff
  2.       The Home Depot purchase of $320.41 for a home decor project
  3.       Tractor Supply purchase of $33.99 for more horse stuff
  4.       Gap purchase of $102 for my husband’s Father’s Day gift
  5.       GrubHub rebate of $3

I earned 10% cash back on each purchase plus the $3 rebate. With no other purchases, my next payout should be $55.53.

How to maximize FreeShipping.com earnings

If you use the FreeShipping.com network for your online shopping and request rebates as needed, the membership can easily produce more cash than it uses. In my case, I nearly paid for a whole year of membership in two months.

That’s the kind of experience you want with a paid cash back program. Follow these tips to make it happen:

  1. Start with bigger purchases you’ve been delaying. I needed glasses, and the 10% cash back helped motivate me to buy them. A big purchase like this pays for itself right away – and keeps you motivated to keep earning.
  2. Read the terms for each retailer. FreeShipping.com shares terms for each retailer. Read them carefully so you know what to expect from each purchase. Some retailers simply don’t allow purchase tracking for their own reasons. This can cause cash back not to appear in your FreeShipping.com savings center. I haven’t had any bad surprises with Freeshipping.com, and all my purchases have been tracked as expected.
  3. Buy online and pick up in store. Don’t want to wait for your goods to be shipped? Buy online and pick up in store — as long as this isn’t excluded from the retailer’s cash back terms. You get your cash back with no shipping delay.
  4. Watch for seasonal promotions. I understand there are seasonal promotions that raise the cash back percentage above 10% for participating merchants. There was a a 20% cash back promotion for Memorial Day and another one is coming in July for the back-to-school season.
  5. Don’t switch browsers or windows. To get credit for your purchases, you must click through to the retailer’s website from FreeShipping.com. You must also complete the transaction in the same browser window.
  6. Don’t buy in apps. Some retailers will redirect you to an app. When that happens, the retailer doesn’t share the data back to FreeShipping.com – which means you won’t earn on that purchase. Before finalizing your purchase, make sure you’re on a website and not an app.
  7.  Don’t spend to earn. Resist the urge to buy things you don’t need or want just to earn 10% cash back.
  8. Remember your rebates. The cash back opportunity can be substantial, but don’t overlook those rebates. It only takes a minute to complete the rebate forms, and you can forward necessary documentation by email. I requested rebates on shipping and food delivery charges and everything worked as expected. I have not tried the return shipping or price protection rebates yet.

Pros and cons of FreeShipping.com

Based on my experience, these are the pros of a FreeShipping.com membership:

  1. The earnings rules are straightforward. 10% cash back is easy to estimate when you’re shopping. Many other cash back programs pay variable percentages as low as 1%.
  2. The earnings potential is substantial. As noted, I am earning more than my membership costs. Also, FreeShipping.com pays monthly, no matter what you’ve earned. Quarterly payouts, sometimes with minimum thresholds, are more common across cash back programs.
  3. Transactions are well-documented. FreeShipping.com sends email confirmations after earnings are recorded. You can also log into your account and view your savings for the current and prior months.
  4. Payments are free and punctual. My first payment appeared automatically in my PayPal account. I didn’t have to request it or pay a fee to withdraw.
  5. Customer service is 24/7. If you have an issue, you can reach out to the customer service team at any time.

The cons are:

  1. You must spend to earn. To keep your finances healthy, use FreeShipping.com to offset the cost of items you would buy anyway.
  2. The membership cost is monthly. With an active membership, you pay the monthly membership fee — even if you forget to shop through the links or request rebates. Try putting a sticky note on your credit card that reminds you to check the FreeShipping.com network before buying something online.
  3. Some transactions aren’t eligible for cash back. Some product types, like groceries, may be excluded from cash back. Also, some browser extensions can override your FreeShipping.com tracking so that you don’t earn the 10%. These restrictions apply to most cash-back programs.

My FreeShipping.com Review: Budget Fashionista Approved

In summary, FreeShipping.com is an easy way to earn cash back and rebates on your purchases. Double-digit cash back can add up quickly, which is super motivating. I wholeheartedly recommend this program for disciplined shoppers who are in command of their budget and spending.

My closing pro tip: Consolidate your FreeShipping.com earnings with earnings from other programs and use the funds for your discretionary spending. In June, I collected $119 from FreeShipping.com, plus about $80 from Poshmark, and $47 from selling old smartphones via EcoATM. That’s $246. I can use that for more FreeShipping.com buys to compound my savings. I can’t wait to see how far I can take it!

Medicube Zero Pore Pad 2.0 – Is it worth the hype ? Review on Indian Medium Skin – MAKEUPHOLIC WORLD

by Lina Clémence June 17, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

I had been struggling with large, open pores for quite some time and had tried numerous methods to reduce their appearance without much success. It was a frustrating experience as I couldn’t find a solution that effectively minimized the size of my pores. I experimented with various skincare products and routines, but nothing seemed to provide the results I was looking for.

Then, I came across the Medicube Zero Pore Pads and decided to give them a try based on the promising reviews and ingredients they contained.

The Medicube Zero Pore Pads are designed to exfoliate and refine pores, making them perfect for individuals who are concerned about enlarged pores, seeking smoother skin texture, dealing with excess oiliness, or facing issues with blackheads and whiteheads. The Medicube Zero Pore Pads 2.0 are dual-textured facial toner pads designed to exfoliate the skin and minimize the appearance of pores. They contain 4.5% Lactic Acid AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) and 0.45% Salicylic Acid BHA (beta hydroxy acid). The AHA and BHA ingredients work to gently exfoliate the skin, removing dead skin cells and impurities, while also helping to control oil production and prevent clogged pores.

Ingredients

Water, methylpropanediol, trometamine, lactic acid, alcohol denat., 1,2-hexanediol, panthenol, glycereth-26, salicylic acid, ammonium acrylic acrylicqudimethyltaurate/VP, copolymer, betaine, trehalose, polyglyceryl-10 laurate, ethylhexylglycerin, glycerin, allanemia that. Toin, Polyglyceron yl-10 Myristate, Disodium EDTA, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Betaine Salicylate, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Zest Oil, Lime Zest Oil (Lemon), Citrus Citrus Peel Oil Grandis (Grapefruit), Citrus Aurantium Bergamo Fruit Oil IA (Bergamote) ), leaf oil of rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary). Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Vitis Vinifera Fruit Extract (Grape), Aurantifolia Citrus Fruit Extract (Lime), Citrus Lime (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Pyrus Malus Fruit Extract (Apple), Aurantium Dulcis Citrus Fruit Extract (Orange), Ethyl Hide exanediol, extract from Centella Asiatica, Slix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Origanum vulgar Leaf Extract, Chamaecyparis Obtusa Leaf Extract, Lactobacillus/Soy Ferment Extract, Cinnamomum Cassia Bark Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Oleracea Extract, Oleracea Extract, Oleracea enothera Biennese is (primrose) Flower Extract, Pinus Palustris Leaf Extract, Ulmm us Davidiana Root Extract, Pueraria Lobata Root Extract, Limonene

How to use them

These pads are intended to be used after cleansing, with the user leaving the pad on the skin for 5 to 10 minutes before gently patting in the remaining essence. They are formulated to be suitable for all skin types, and are designed to improve skin texture, minimize pores, and promote a smoother, clearer complexion.

I absolutely adore the Medicube Zero Pore Pads 2.0! These little pads have become a staple in my skincare routine, and for good reason. They work wonders on my skin by gently exfoliating and effectively controlling oil production, while also minimizing my pores. What I love most about these pads is how easy they are to use – simply apply after cleansing and leave on for 5 to 10 minutes before patting in the remaining essence. They are incredibly gentle and have not caused any irritation to my sensitive skin. I’ve noticed a significant improvement in the texture and clarity of my skin since incorporating them into my routine.

The result is a smooth and refreshed complexion that I can’t get enough of. I am adding before and afer pictures of my face and after pictures are taken after a month’s use

One of the things I appreciate about these pads is that they don’t hve any strong fragrance. It felt lavender-citrusy to me, not overpowering. The double-sided, durable design ensures that I get the most out of each pad. Additionally, the non-sticky formula is a bonus that I appreciate. The single pad notably cover both the face and neck, and they have also shown good results in reducing recurring acne bumps and improving pore size. I use these pads about 2-3 times a week, usually at night after cleansing my face and patting it dry. I make sure to skip using them on days when I use Retinol or after I’ve had hydra facials or skin PRP treatments. While some may be tempted to refrigerate the product for a cooling effect, it’s essential to note that this could lead to premature drying of the toner essence. Additionally, caution is advised when using it alongside other actives to avoid potential irritation. When incorporating the toner pads into your routine, it’s advisable to streamline your skincare regimen and refrain from using conflicting products. I personally used the Hyaluronic acid followed by Estee Lauder ANR OR Clarins Double Serum OR Shesha Ayurveda Kumkumadi Cream alongside the toner pads. For optimal results, users should have some experience with similar products, such as Pixi Glow Tonic, prior to using the Medicube Zero Pore Pad 2.0.

Overall, the Medicube Zero Pore Pads 2.0 are formulated to provide an effective solution for exfoliation and pore care, helping users achieve a healthier and more radiant skin appearance. I wouldn’t say pores can completely disappear, But it does blur them to a great extent almost invisible unless under closer proximity. If you’re on the hunt for a quick and effective solution to tackle enlarged pores or oily skin, I wholeheartedly recommend giving the Medicube Zero Pore Pads 2.0 a try. Buy here

Is It Worth Investing in K18 Hair for Healthier and Stronger Hairs

by Lina Clémence June 4, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

In the realm of hair care, innovation is the key to unlocking the secret to luscious, healthy locks. Enter K18 Hair, a groundbreaking brand that’s taking the world of hair care by storm with its cutting-edge technology and transformative products. In this post, we’ll explore the science and benefits behind K18 Hair and why it’s becoming a game-changer in the beauty industry.

The Science Behind K18 Hair:

At the heart of K18 Hair’s success lies its patented bioactive peptide, known as K18Peptide™. This revolutionary ingredient is designed to repair and restore damaged hair at a molecular level. Here’s how it works:

Hair Structure: Hair is primarily composed of a protein called keratin, which contains amino acids linked together in chains. These chains can be damaged by various factors, including heat, chemicals, and environmental stressors.

K18Peptide™: K18Peptide™ is a bioactive peptide that has a unique ability to penetrate the hair shaft. It seeks out broken keratin chains and reconnects them, effectively repairing the damaged hair structure.

Structural Repair: By repairing the internal structure of the hair, K18 Hair products restore elasticity, strength, and overall health to your tresses.

The Benefits of K18 Hair:

Meroda Cosmetics Velvet Dream Lipstick Review – Is It Worth the Hype? | Makeup Savvy

by Lina Clémence June 1, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

AD This is a paid for ad in partnership Meroda Cosmetics

Over the years lipstick has been a key staple in my makeup routine as I truly believe it has the power to bring any makeup look together to create something more polished and elegant.

With a makeup bag full of lipstick I still can’t get enough of them, so when Meroda Cosmetics reached out and asked if I wanted to try their collection of Velvet Dream Lipstick I jumped at the chance.

Meroda Cosmetic Velvet Dream Lipsticks come in four classic shades – Perfect Nude, Pink Peony, Luscious Red and Grape Galore. Boasting a cruelty-free & vegan formula and contains several nourishing ingredients such as vitamin E to keep your lips looking smooth and comfortable throughout the day.

Meroda Cosmetics Velvet Dream Lipsticks

Pink Peony – Best described as a soft pink blush shade this has instantly become my go-to daytime lipstick of choice. Not only do I find this shade compliments my fair skin-tone but the pigmented yet soft diffused colour really brightens the complexion. I know I will be reaching for this lipstick a lot!

Luscious Red – If you want to make a statement then this is the shade for you. This deep yet bold red is another complex booster that I have found to brighten my overall complexion. With buildable coverage, I feel this is a wonderful versatile red – when dabbed onto the lips it can easily become a fun daytime look yet when paired with the matching Meroda Cosmetics Luscious Red Signature Lip Pencil and applied directly from the bullet you have a much more dramatic evening look that has great staying power.

Grape Galore – Described by Meroda as a bold purple, Grape Galore is easily my favourite shade for the upcoming colder months. While this is another statement shade the coverage again can be adjusted to suit the occasion. With its warm undertones, I feel this will also compliment all skin tones and give a healthy glow against the skin.

Perfect Nude – You truly can’t go wrong with a nude lipstick, can you? This neutral-toned nude is another everyday favourite for me now as whatever my makeup look it never fails to look anything other than perfect. The velvet matte formula gives this nude a soft natural finish that I think most people will appreciate.

Lipstick Application

As the name suggests these gorgeous lipsticks offer a velvety matte finish which on application instantly impressed me as while they are highly pigmented they simply glide over the lips making application beyond effortless.

Comfortability-wise this range feels almost feather-like on the lips thanks to the addition of some nourishing ingredients and while offering a soft matte finish which never feels drying I’m very pleased to report.

As for longevity, when paired with Meroda Cosmetics Signature Lip Pencil a defined long-lasting bleed-free lip look is created, ideal if you are going to an event or want a truly polished look. I must say the wear time for these lipsticks has thoroughly impressed me!

Overall Thoughts

As mentioned I am quite the lipstick addict, which does mean I can be quite critical with an arsenal of lipsticks to compare against. However, I truly have only positive things to say about this range – I find the minimal shade range precise and uncomplicated (each shade has its time and place which I love!). The formulation has been thoughtfully crafted to provide a nourishing, soft feel containing ginger extract that also manages to last the day. As for the chic packaging, I can’t get enough of the satisfying magnetic close of the lipsticks and the concealed mini sharpener to the end of each lip pencil – ingenious!

Overall I couldn’t be more in love with this range of lipsticks. Have you tried out the Meroda Cosmetics Velvet Dream Lipsticks yet?

Is a Craft Gin Club subscription worth it? – A Curious Fancy

by Lina Clémence May 29, 2025
written by Lina Clémence

A summer meadow picnic with Craft Gin Club’s subscription box styled by Ragini R/ A Curious Fancy. Ragini is sitting in a meadow wearing a green floral apron dress. Next to her is a mirrored tray with a bottle of gin, 2 glasses with gin cocktails, and some meadow flowers on it. Close to the tray is a wicker basket wth packets of snacks in it.

We’ve been getting a monthly subscription box from Craft Gin Club since February this year and I wanted to talk a bit about it! Full disclosure: Owen is the gin aficionado in our family and I’ve been partnering with Craft Gin Club on a gifting basis as a little monthly treat for him. We receive the boxes, I create some content each month (sometimes with Owen’s help, sometimes by myself) and then we enjoy the gin, snacks and mixers.

Would we pay for a Craft Gin Club subscription if I wasn’t in a position to create photo and video content in exchange for the monthly boxes? The answer is yes. We’d probably get a bi-monthly subscription instead of a monthly one – Craft Gin Club offers monthly, bi-monthly and quarterly subscriptions along with the option of purchasing one-off boxes of the month. There are some monthly boxes that I’ve loved more than Owen did and vice versa, so I appreciate that there’s the option to choose the ones you like the most.

Whether it’s a subscription or a one off box, Craft Gin Club makes for a wonderful gift as there are so many different things to try out in every box. Everything comes packaged beautifully and securely, and there’s something for everyone. I love the fruity gin cocktails that I can make with the mixers while Owen prefers a traditional G&T. There are even things for Lila to enjoy (she loves the toddler friendly crisps and chocolate!) And thanks to Craft Gin Club, I’ve also discovered some new favourite beverages, both alcoholic and otherwise. That’s my favourite thing about these boxes – there’s a bundle of new things to try out every month that we wouldn’t discover otherwise, and some of the snacks and beverages from previous months’ boxes (blood orange cider and chocolate covered marshmallows immediately spring to mind) have become firm favourites in our household.

When we were shooting these photos in the meadows, we soon realised that we’d once again forgotten to bring a bottle opener, so we couldn’t make the cocktail of the month for the photos! (With every subscription box, you also get an issue of the Craft Gin Club magazine which has a variety of cocktail recipes and ideas including the cocktail of the month, the ingredients for which are included in the box.) So I quickly made a cocktail of my own creation with the Tassie gin, limeade, cocktail syrup, and dried pineapple garnish. And it was so good! I know next to nothing about making cocktails and with the ingredients in a Craft Gin Club box, I can just throw things together to my liking and get a delicious end result. Now that’s what I call magic!

This is July’s box that you can see in the photos – we’ve already received the box for August and I can’t wait to unbox it and try out the gin and other goodies inside! The boxes are £40 each and all of them have a full sized bottle of gin along with a range of tonics, mixers, garnishes and snacks to nibble on while flipping through the monthly magazine. Craft Gin Club also has frequent discounts on their website which make the boxes even better value! So here’s to a subscription box that never fails to delight, month after month *clink* And to more makeup free photoshoots (did you notice?)
